Maybe that's why I liked it so much.

Yeep. Some of those have close to 20g of cane sugar per serving.

I lost weight after food poisioning, but I feel crappy because I haven't worked out in awhile. I plan to start tomorrow. I also feel frustrated because I'll have surgery next month and need to take two weeks off, but I am wondering if light walking will be helpful.

Good point, Charlie.

What does one do: gyms out the ?, very little room to do exercises, I like walking (no sidewalks, lots snow::))
I guess more walking, yoga. :-\

Do you have enough space to jump rope? Also, burpees are a good exercise if you don't have equipment or much space, as long as your ceiling isn't too low. Also, look on YouTube for some exercise videos to see if there are any you can do at your place.

Speaking of jump roples,I use a cordless one, as I don't have space for that in my apartament, I guess other can use this as well haha https://www.amazon.com/APLUGTEK-Training-Ropeless-Skipping-Adjustable/dp/B089VTJWHR/ref=sr_1_31?keywords=jump+ropes+for+fitness&qid=1644815877&sprefix=jump+r%2Caps%2C171&sr=8-31

I am going to get those jump ropes - thank you!

I started my walking workout. Not in a sweat but it helped my mind and I used ankle weights. I'm going to keep up on it. Maybe couch to 5K a couple of weeks after surgery, but prior to that, lots of walking.

One suggestion for jumping rope. If you're doing it on a hard surface, rubber mats help absorb the shock on your knees and shins. Something like this:

https://www.wesellmats.com/1-thick-multipurpose-mats/

I have bad knees and when I was jumping rope, this helped a lot.

I'm late to the Power Crunch bar party because I have been hearing people raving about them for years but OMG---they are so good and that's coming from someone who is still eating a bunch of sugar. If I was eating really clean I bet they would taste downright decadent. I've been eating the triple chocolate ones but I just got a pack of the s'mores and I think they might be even better.

Are Clif bars still pretty decent? I survived off of them years ago when I had to lose a bunch of weight for work.

I've been trying to get back into shape and eating mostly real food, except for a protein shake once or twice a day...ground turkey and chicken, veggies, fruit...just trying to stay consistent...trying to get to the gym minimum 4 times a week...so far since New Years I'm down 9 lbs so I feel good about it so far

I do workouts online a few days a week. I also walk a mile every day outside it makes a difference and clears my head.

It's going to rain again tomorrow, so leg day at the gym it is.

Think I'm going to make Thursday my rest/ self care day. I need to color my hair and bleach my teeth.

I need to get back on track. :/

That's the hardest part of the whole cycle, IMO. Getting back into it can be so hard.

I've been lifting heavy consistently for months now, and i can't stop because i feel like I'd be losing so much muscle, definition, and strength. Before, when i just did cardio, it was easier to stop going here and there.

I've never liked them so I am not a reliable source. :-X

ETA I keep wanting to track my calories to see how much I eat but I keep buying stuff that can't really be tracked. I had pho yesterday and I'm having it again today and I have no idea how many calories are in it and when I google I get nothing but different answers. Also had a ca phe sua da today and again, nothing but different answers online. Tomorrow I plan to have nothing that can't be tracked.

My boyfriend and I are starting a 30 day fitness challenge next week when I get back to his place. For 30 days:

1. Workout every day for at least 30mins.
2. Drink 2-4 liters of water per day.
3. No alcohol!
4. Only eat out once per week.
5. 30 mins of self care per day (reading, journaling, meditation, bubble bath, skin care, whatever)

I'm excited! Gotta get myself summer ready!

I hurt my back and my fitness routine got compromised.
I was traveling and LOVE visiting new yoga studios ..... no yoga last week. Ugh .

I'm home now and am doing " half pace " biking workouts but no upper body which has been a bummer.

I'm still determined to hit 165 ( 5'8'' ) and I'm a few pounds over. :/

I got some raw veggies and other ingredients to eat healthy in the next few days to off set the higher calorie travel eating.

My protein goal got thrown off track because the whey protein was making me break out AND shit myself. So now I'm back to my pre-made Muscle Milk shakes since they're casein protein, unfortunately they only come in cases of 12 so my protein intake just got more expensive because 1 case will only last me 4 days max.

I am so happy I’ve returned to my @home gym. Got a pass at a gym while I was traveling, the set up was annoying, other people got in my way, and even the 20 minute walk each way disrupted my internal scheduling mechanism.

Also went without my supplements, and trusted protein. Lifts have gone down but not drastically. Trying lower body tomorrow after really keeping it low key for the above mentioned reasons. It’s probably a really smart idea to possibly be hella sore the day before I get back to work.

This sounds like a great plan! And totally doable, too.

I'm discontinuing tonalin CLA bc I read that it can give you fatty liver. So I'm drinking more ACV instead.

Yeah, I don't work out at all right now so I know if I try something like an hour a day working out, I'm less likely to stick to it, so I'm just setting the minimum at 30 mins lol.

It's kind of like a much easier, shorter version of that 75 Hard challenge. Haha

Ok--

So-- long ago in a galaxy far far away, I was a fit, toned stripper. Then life happened. Had kids. Stopped dancing. Started camming and sitting on my butt 10-12 hours per day. Pounds started adding on... then one day I woke up-- and realized that I weighed in at 205 lbs.

Yikes.

I cut out almost all sugar. No more sodas. No more juice. The only things I drink these days is water and my 2 cups of tea per day with a packet of stevia. As of this morning, I'm sitting at 155. My current soft goal is 125. I'm 5'4" and very small framed. Back in my fittest days I was at 115, but I don't know if that is realistic for a 45 year old (well, 45 in 2 weeks) so at 125 I'm going to reevaluate how I look and feel. If I can get back into the one-teens.. I may consider competing, as I know myself well enough to know that if I throw competition into the mix, I'll maintain consistency after hitting goal. I lost the first 50 pounds in 4 months and have just recently entered the slow down phase of weight loss-- which makes it harder to just keep swimming-- so I'll be checking in here regularly to try to stay on track

Diet wise, I'm doing a hybrid between old school Atkins and Keto--- less fat than typical Keto but not by much. Keeping carbs around 25-30g per day with once weekly refeed days where I get close to 70g of carbs. This is going to slowly shift because the satiety of keto for me puts me in a situation where I'm not eating enough calories-- and I need to adjust that as my working out gets more intense and often. Most of my food is clean-- but I do generally have a keto friendly yogurt after workouts and will sometimes eat the Keto friendly bars from Aldi's. Every 10 pounds I reward myself with a pint of Rebel.

Workout wise-- I'm currently doing EMS workouts twice per week. I will be starting Orange Theory as soon as the studio in my neighborhood opens-- and will be doing that 3 times a week (Founding member-- join before one opens and you get a pretty sweet discount). When the weather is nice enough-- I will generally do a 1-2 mile trail walk every day- we have an amazing public hiking trail system here. But-- we're not quite at "nice weather" stage... so this is pretty limited. I try to hit the treadmill a couple times a week since weather is rough-- but I hate doing the hamster walk.

Supplements-- Most of what I take could be classified as "vanity" supps. I take a couple different types of Collagen, Biotin, Vitamin E, Cod Liver Oil, CoQ10, B12, and Vitamin D. The Collagen has Zinc and C built into it, so I don't take those as stand alones.

This year is also my year of vanity-- having DOT laser next week-- a lower lid blepharoplasty in July-- and may be considering a tummy tuck once I hit goal depending on how my baby belly looks.

Thinking of switching to planet fitness for their red light room alone. Plus they're cheaper

Day 4 of 30 and going strong!

I'm getting a membership at Planet Fitness next week! I am just now hearing about this red room thing and I think it will be very advantageous for me. My boyfriend and I are going on Monday, and I'm actually (dare I say) excited to workout there! I've only been working out at the house so far. I can't believe I'm excited to get to a gym! I literally haven't been to a gym in like a year lol and I usually loathe going. The fact that I'm looking forward to it is telling me my mentality is already starting to change for the better.

Also have incorporated a healthy new snack into my diet. Roasted cucumber slices with a little sprinkle of parmesan cheese. Pretty tasty, and low in calories. I am on an antidepressant that increases my appetite, so I have been looking for low-cal, healthy snack options. If anyone has any input, let me know! 8)

One thing to be careful of. Drinking too much water at one time can be harmful. Your kidneys can only process about .8 - 1 liter per hour.

charlie61
03-20-2022, 10:19 AM
^lol, she said her goal was 2-4 liters per day, not per hour. I think she's safe from overhydration / death by water intake. :D

eagle2
03-20-2022, 02:14 PM
I just wanted to add that, so that she doesn't try to drink too much at one time. I've read about people dying from drinking too much water.

charlie61

Yes, it's possible. Your post just made me laugh. I think 2-4 liters a day is pretty safe. The people you're talking about are drinking like 6 liters in a few hours, or not balancing intake with food and electrolytes, really extreme stuff.

With my “ rib out “ healing it’s been hard to adjust.
I still do the gym but about 2/3 time on bike.
I lift at 30% ish

I’d rather use caution than aggravate an injury.
I realized today my Dr. didn’t give me good guidance on modifying movements .
This can take a bit to heal but I don’t want to even go up a pound. :/

I still want to see 164-165 weight and I’m usually 166 most days.

Forcing myself to go to the gym for upper body day. I remind myself how good it feels when I'm done and that's what gets me going. I'm just bored of my gym. Joining Planet fitness next month bc I want to go also for their red light room/machine/thingie. Red light is rejuvenating and it will give meore motivation to go if I have the red light as a reward.

Is any of us excited about working out? I maybe am once in a blue moon, or when I start doing something new, which lasts for about a week. I am struggling with discipline rather than motivation or liking it, lol :))))
But the more ways to workout I discover, the less excuses I am making and just admit I am plain lazy and don't care about my health, when I don't workout for 2-3 weeks in a row :)))))

Today's workout. Currently doing FB Burn program and this is in my calendar:

Warm up (15 min): https://www.fitnessblender.com/videos/fat-burning-hiit-workout-bodyweight-hiit-cardio-workout-with-low-impact-modifications

Workout (24 min): https://www.fitnessblender.com/videos/24-minute-ab-blasting-interval-workout-at-home-abs-workout

Cool down (5 min): https://www.fitnessblender.com/videos/fast-5-minute-cool-down-and-stretching-workout-for-busy-people

Extra credit challenge (16 min): https://www.fitnessblender.com/videos/abs-butt-and-thigh-hiit-cardio-workout

Total: 44 minutes without extra credit challenge, 1 hour in total. I will do the extra challenge as I feel energized. So... 1 hour it is!

Edit: Did only 40 min out of 1 hour. I didn't do the extra credit challenge and the cool down because food arrived. I ordered dinner from a restaurant that's super busy and their delivery time is usually between 1- 1:30h. This time they sent it in 40 minutes only :)))

Oh, I wished I had woods or a beach in my proximity. I mean, there are some woods, but it's 20 minutes away with the car. I got a huge park in front of my apt building and I jog there sometimes. You gave me a great idea to go jog in the woods sometimes.
Seaside is about 3 hours away from me, ugh.
You're lucky!

PS: My favorite way of working out is playing tennis. I need to get a membership again.

-torso rotation

Felt so great! Gonna workout at home the next few days and go back to the gym later in the week.
