I bought coffee for the Romani woman who begs at my local grocery shop. She's the sweetest and basically just sits there all day, making no noise and waiting for tips. Girl, I know what that's like. Coffee was on sale so she got two packs and $10 because that was all I had in cash.

My neighbor asked me to help him find a job. I asked if he internet access and thats when he told me he is illiterate so it's really hard
hes older, no car, and worked at the same cafe for 30 years until covid and the take out service pretty much killed his job :(
being illiterate is looked down on so for him to ask me i felt special, like he trusts me.
im not sure which one of us is doing the kind thing.
I hope we can find him something
That is lovely of you, yes I'm sure it was hard for him to ask for help, it's not easy asking for help anyway and men can be the worst at that. Is there anywhere he could volunteer locally? I get he needs paid work but it might be good for both keeping him active and social but also could meet someone who could put him in touch with others who might have opportunities for him? I don't know what it's like where you are for that kind of thing. :)

Oh boy, that's a tough one. Bless you for helping him out. You being there and accepting him surely means the world to him.
Please keep us updated on this. There has to be something out there he can do. He has held the same job for 30 years. That is a big plus. Good luck!

the average hourly for dishwashers is 15.00 hr plus tips in most restaurants or 30.00 hourly.. they get paid good compared to what ppl think they get paid bc the comment "you don't want to wash dishes your whole life" makes it seem like a low paying shit job. when i waited tables the dishwasher was always the happiest and most social person with the wait staff. Id always hide with the food prep ppl or the dishwasher if i didn't want to be found
I had a list and had it in my hand and I had it tight in my hand bc i didn't want to lose it
I lost it
i traced my steps for 2 blocks I couldn't find it
I had walked to my daughters house and then back to his house
there are tons dishwasher gigs.

Tipped my Lyft driver $20 for my free ride(it was a complimentary shuttle from the dealership) which took like 8 minutes. I got $20 cash back like a week ago for gas but my tank got too low to where I needed more than that and just used my debit card, and that $20 would have sat in my wallet till it disintegrated plus my driver was cool AF. Unfortunately now I have nothing for the Lyft that will take me back to the dealership, I know I don't technically have to tip because it's paid for by the dealership but it still feels wrong not to.

I hate when that happens. I have signed receipts without tipping because I thought I had enough cash, forgetting I spent on something else.

My hot chocolate was $3.69 at Starbucks. I tipped $20. It's not always about how much you give, it's about giving what you can. Big or small, we all can give something.
I also love giving the 'gift of feedback'. I feel it's so important to let people know that they're doing a great job and how much I appreciate them.

I saw a lady at the store today who was talking to everyone and complimenting them. I heard her ask a man where he found the cantaloupes in his cart. He pointed and they were right behind her. She had walked right past them. I helped her pick out a ripe one.
I saw her in the checkout line, looking around for someone to talk to. She must have a very isolated life. Now I wish I would have invited her for a drink at Starbucks. Starbucks is inside the store.

This seemed like the obvious place to post this! I just came across this phone app called Be My Eyes, it connects visually impaired people with sighted volunteers via a video call through the app, it shows you how it works. You can sign up as a volunteer or a visually impaired person and when someone needs help a call goes out to lots of people and the first to answer is connected. I just signed up, it took about a minute. Seems like such a simple yet brilliant idea, I had never heard of it until 5 minutes ago!

People are surprised when they know I tip Starbucks baristas. I don’t care if people don’t tip but I see them as baristas at restaurants. People tip when they’re at restaurants or at least I hope so.
I’m also a regular and they do so much for me. They pretty much go above and beyond for me. I don’t abuse it but whatever I want I pretty much get. Not many people that go to Starbucks can say that so I tip well when I can. They more than deserve it!

I'm not surprised. Last time I went to Starbucks I noticed there was no tip jar. I asked the barista where it was and she pulled it from a spot that was not visible. I thought, are people seriously stealing from the tip jar?
I think baristas deserve tips just like servers in restaurants do.

Yes, people do steal tips. Before the pandemic, Starbucks would have all the milk at the bar so people can use them for their coffee,
there would be people stealing half and half, whole milk and shit. People are horrible!
I've told baristas to put tips away when they're getting full so people don't steal them!
Today's act of kindness: hot chocolate was $3.69, I put $10 in the tip jar. I always give all ones to discourage people from stealing. 10s, 20s bills are too tempting for stealers!

The bar was so busy today but this Barista greeted me right away when I walked in Starbucks.
She’s very consistent. She was busy making drinks non-stop. I don’t know how she does it. Gives me so much anxiety just looking at her working so hard. My hot chocolate was $3.58. I tipped her $10 and thanked her for working so hard and I appreciate her for always getting my drinks together. She was so happy and that made me feel good.
Not everyday is a good day when you’re bipolar but doing something kind for somebody always changes my mood.
True kindness is doing something without the expectation of getting something in return but it always comes back to me. You can’t lose by being kind.
However, I still have no issues going off on bitches when it’s called for, lmao,

I have seen them work like that. It's like a precise system where they are fast but they don't look flustered or rushed. It's really admirable.
I saw a woman my age wearing a psychedelic shirt with flowers. I told her I love her retro look and she laughed. She asked me if I remember the show called "The Mod Squad" in the early 70's. I said yes, that was a groovy show LOL. This little exchange made my day.
I love these pants in the orange color. Reviewers say they are too long but that's how they were in the 70's. They were not fashionable if they didn't drag the floor.

I was on the receiving end of an act of kindness today so I was happy to return the favour! I went to order my regular prescription but the pharmacy lady told me they couldn't get any of one of the items, I would have to see my doctor for an alternative. Now without going into detail that isn't possible, what I use works for me and an alternative isn't an option. So I left feeling quite upset and called my doctor to see if they could split the prescription and get the drugs they did have in stock and then try to get the other elsewhere that might use a different supplier.
Anyway this is most likely boring to read lol but when I went back the lady had spent 15 mins ringing round and had managed to source the missing stuff and I was so happy I nearly cried! So when I went shopping while waiting for her to sort things out I got her a box of chocolates and gave it to her when I went back.
I know she wasn't trying to source the medication for me specifically because she had no idea I was coming back. But instead of forgetting about it she had listened to me and tried to fix the problem and I was really touched by that, not often someone goes above and beyond and she really made me smile :)

I stopped by Aldi today. When I got there I realized I did not have a quarter for a cart. I had all kinds of other change so I grabbed two dimes and a nickel. I walked to the entrance, intending to ask for a quarter in exchange for my dimes and nickel. LMAO
A lady saw me starting to walk in without a cart. She asked me "Do you need a cart?" I said yes but I don't have a quarter. She told me to take hers, as she was leaving. I offered her my dimes and nickel but she wouldn't take it. It's the little things :).

My store was out of garlic today. There was a couple who were also looking for it. We asked the produce manager if he had any in the back. He said he didn't think so but he had some packages of peeled garlic.
As it turned out, there was only one package. The couple grabbed it. I told the produce manager it's okay. No big deal. He asked me if I could wait a minute while he ran to the back to double check. There was no garlic there either.
I started walking around the store and he showed up again. LOL He told me he found a jar of freeze dried garlic but it wouldn't scan. He said to tell the cashier to give it to me for regular garlic price. I'm sure this jar probably cost 5 or 6 dollars. The cute and young cashier asked me if $1 was okay. I got to hear about his swim practice and senior photos. Haha

The peeled garlic is expensive and usually goes bad quickly. My $1.00 freeze dried jar will stay good for a long time. I came out the winner.;D

I tried an act of kindness today in a small way but it failed miserably! In Sainsbury's it was crazy busy at the self scan checkout and there was this guy waving for help. The woman in front of me in the queue was store staff but obviously not working and I said I think that guy needs some help. She shouted back "Well, I can't do anything about it can I?" as if I was a moron! Charming. I thought maybe she could ask someone else to help him but I didn't get that far. Oh well, I tried! :)

This reminded me of a cute grocery store one I had months ago; me and a worker (like construction-looking type worker) both got to the self-checkout line at the same time and of course he being a gentleman was trying to make me go first but because all he had was something hot from the deli I figured he was on break so I made him go first. After waiting in the line for a few he turned to me and was saying he was going to switch to a cashier line because he didn't think he could ring up the deli item by himself and I was explaining to him that he could totally ring it up in the self-checkout and he was like "Can you help me?" So I was like yeah and when it was his turn I just rang him up at the self checkout myself basically, showing him how to do it. Then when it was finishing up and printing his receipt I went and stood back in the line and when he got his receipt he turned to me and did that thing where he just stood there looking at me with his fist raised like in solidarity, like thanking me for helping him. He was so nice. It was one of those 'you had to be there' moments.

My significant other wanted to celebrate a month together and asked if I was available Mon eve. I said I was and he said be ready at 5pm for a surprise. I was extremely excited as all his surprises are terribly creative.
As we pulled up to the restaurant, one I'd never heard of, he said "don't hesitate to get whatever you want." I asked if the menu was expensive...he just repeated "get what your heart desires."
I'd never been to a Brazilian Steakhouse and was curious as to why there wasn't a menu. Apparently, you don't go unless you can afford it so they don't post cost. I felt like a princess.
Of all the servers, and there were many, one in particular was so cute: he offered filet mignon and I really wanted lamb leg. When I asked about lamb leg he looked up then down and his face revealed embarrassment. He quickly left then returned promptly with lamb leg.
I smiled so wide, asked for the cut I wanted, then told him "you're doing such a good job!" He smiled like it was Christmas Eve and I almost wanted to hug him.
My significant other is a gentleman and tips very well. Knowing that, and the compliment, probably made that wonderful fellas night.

On Amazon after your package is delivered it asks on the tracking page if your delivery was good or bad and I always click good, and when you do it takes you to a prompt where there's 6 options you can chose from regarding what the driver might have done well like 'was on time' 'followed instructions' 'was respectful of the property'...etc. I always select every single one literally every time. Even on days like today where I had 4 things delivered but they weren't grouped in together as 1 order so it allowed me to rate for each item I still go in and leave a perfect rating for each item.

Hot chocolate was $3.59. I tipped $10.
Found a nail in my tire on Friday, Tire kingdom has to order and it came in today. I was supposed to wait 30 mins, it took an hour so I said to the manager 'I deserve 50% off with a big smile.
I was supposed to pay $286. Got a $70 discount and ended up only paying $216.
This is proof that you can never lose being kind. That was so nice of him. I really appreciated but I also have to give myself credit for asking.
With everything in life, if you're afraid to ask for what you want then you have zero chance of getting what you want.

You quoted me as your sign, lol. Ask because worse they can do is say no. You have an advantage and higher chance of getting what you want when you ask because you're a senior.
They feel bad for saying no to the elders so play up your senior card, lol.
That's a really good tip sis.
That's freaking awesome about your tire discount. They really went above and beyond. It will all come back to them with good reviews and word of mouth recommendations.
I found an apartment key by the dumpster today. Someone must have dropped it when they threw their trash. I took it to the landlord. It was right at closing time. I hope they had a spare or someone else did. I know how it feels to lose keys.

I'm thinking about going goth so they will have to notice me. They will think I lost my marbles and give me anything to make me go away;D.
