That's beautiful. Now Imma cry. lol You don't hear of many communities coming together these days.

Grocery store encounters are the best! People seem to let their guard down there.

Props to Best Buy. I returned a monitor last week. Today I got a bill from my credit card for a $34 balance.

I called Best Buy and the guy said "Oh My God" LOL. He told me I was charged for the free antivirus that came with it because I returned it. There was no way he could give me a refund but he did cancel my subscription. He said the only thing he could offer me was a gift card with double the amount. Heck yeah I'll take it!

We talked for quite a bit about his dogs and stuff. He told me he enjoyed our convo and I said I did too. Haha!!!

I'm still engaging in random acts of kindness weekly. I still tip extra and donate a small amount to Love Without Boundaries like clockwork. Not only is donating an act of kindness, it elicits a huge amount of gratitude, which, according to Dr Bruce Lipton...not only improves the mind, but increases life span and quality of life. Practicing gratitude triggers the miracle enzyme telomerase which is like the "fountain of youth."

I miss you Mama Bear. I shed a tear whenever I think of your kindness. Love and light.

I miss you too. I was so happy when you came back.

All of that makes perfect sense.

In fact, it happened to me today but it was towards me. Someone came into my chat and tipped 100. Then 100 again and another 50. He told me he is just sharing some blessings and that I deserve it. He told me to have a wonderful day and he left. I had a hard time holding back my tears. I had to log off for a bit and cry a little.

I'm still feeling emotional from it. You seem like a sensitive and emotional person also and very generous.

I still donate to the SPCA as often as I can. They took such good care of my cat before I adopted her and of course they need donations to operate.

That's so lovely, I know we get tips as part of our earnings but that's so nice he treated you like that, such a nice way to do it!

And I'm with you on the animal donations, I donate each month to Guide Dogs for the Blind and Cats Protection and I just adopted a kitten from Cats Protection and paid more than what they asked for him. They work so hard to care for them and OMG vet costs in the UK are just shocking. My kitten is a total nutter mind you, I think they saw me coming! :D

Thank you. It was lovely. Even more than the tips, it was very touching the way he treated me.

I love your post so much. Congratulations on your new kitten! They are rambunctious:hyper:. You have to watch them like toddlers but they sure are worth it!

Got my Starbucks pumpkin spice creme this morning, it was $4.44 and I gave the Barista that made my drink $10. She was happy and so was I for her service. It's a win, win :)

This thread has slowed down a bit! I took my lovely hairdresser some chocolates and posh biscuits today, she totally deserved a treat especially after the time those businesses have had the last couple of years. Also I flagged down a poor unsuspecting motorist in the supermarket car park to let him know I was about to leave and he could have the space. It's a nightmare coming up to Christmas, like musical fucking cars driving round and round to get a damn space!

Thank you for reviving this thread!

Yes, unfortunately salons took a big hit, as well as other small businesses. Food is always a perfect gift, especially sweets!

Holiday traffic is the worst. Not only is it backed up but most people are in a hurry. People always appreciate when they are given a closer parking spot. Little things like that can make someone's day. I'm a very passive driver. Just go first. lol

I have lived in my apartment for one year. The lady downstairs seemed to avoid me. Today she smiled and said hello. That made me so happy.

That's lovely! And you're right about the car park, I guess if someone gave me a parking space when it was busy I'd appreciate that. We are good at small (and not so small!) acts of kindness on here! :):):)

I did one today. When I was at the self-checkout at the grocery store earlier the employee in charge of the area was super stressed out, which she was the last time I saw her there as well. When I went to the Starbucks that was right next to the self-checkout area I got her a $10 gift certificate.

That's so lovely, exactly what this thread is all about! You've got me thinking now, I often go to the same shops and chat with the same people, supermarket staff work so hard and the pay is not good. Might do something similar next time I go! :)

^Same! There is a Starbucks in my store too. The self checkout people are always in a rush. They are waved down constantly.

Great idea Genoveve!

Spoke to a staff member in Sainsbury's today to ask if they had a collection box for kid's toys, they had one last year but not now. She was the head of the charity stuff instore and said they have to focus on food poverty right now and are limited to what they can collect for instore. I asked if the food bank collection took pet food and they did so I bought 9 big bags of cat and dog food and put them in the food bank. Probably something that gets forgotten, people often donate food but not so much pet food and if people are struggling to feed themselves then they must be struggling to feed their animals and that breaks my heart.

Went to Lidl afterwards and they DO collect toys so I got some lovely puzzle books for the toy bank and also some cat food for their food bank. Every little helps as they say!

My daughter and 4 grandchildren will be moving to my apartment complex in a month. I'm beyond excited because right now they live about half an hour away but the highway is treacherous in that area.

My wonderful daughter just made the most generous offer. I have been needing knee replacements for years but did not think it was possible because I live alone. She and my 16 year old grandson want to help me out. I am blown away with gratitude.

I can also help her out. I can cook for my grandson and take care of her birds.when she's out of town on work trips.

This is the ultimate act of kindness.

i was at my fav restaurant like a week ago and i overheard this lady telling the waitress she had a rough couple days when she asked how she was...the waitress was polite but dismissive (understandable cuz shes working lol) but i felt bad because i could hear it in the lady's voice she was really sad not just one of those ppl that complain any chance they get. so it's a place where u have to go up to the counter to pay , and when i went to pay i said ill pay for her too. but because i have trust issues i went and told her just incase they decided to pocket the money and hand her a bill lmao. but when i went up to her i could just tell she had been crying alllll day. i offered her a hug cuz i didnt really kno what to say. but the way this women hugged me it was like a baby clinging to their mom idk how else to explain it. it really made me feel thankful that i make enough i dont have to even think before doing something like that.

This should happen more often. If someone is having such a rough time they can't hold it back, it's not right they should be ignored. Nobody knows what they are going through. It has to be pretty bad for them to cry in public. I think it makes a lot of people uncomfortable to see so they turn the other way.

Compassion from a stranger is powerful. She will never forget you, that's for sure.

You are totally right there. I remember many years ago being in terrible debt and getting a letter from the bank regarding repossessing my house. I've never felt so ashamed and sick but I remember clearly the man called Richard at a job agency who got me a job there and then, the first step I needed to arrange repayments and get back on my feet, I kept the house and much of that was down to his help and kindness that day. This was about 20 years ago at least, when you could walk into an agency on the high street with a CV and get admin work. I just realised I remembered the guy's name after all this time, I guess that shows how much kind people stick in your mind. So yes, I'm sure that lady will think of you, Hottie. :)

Yesterday an old man chased me down in Aldi car park with the pound I'd left in my trolley, I thought that was so sweet!

it’s been a while since i posted here but i have a few stories to add. yesterday it was raining and my hubby and i we’re having coffee in at an out door terrace facing the street. an elderly man slipped and fell in the rain. i was slow to react but i managed to tell my husband in time who ran over as fast as he could to help him get to his feet we offered to help get him an ambulance, he was so thankful even speaking to us in english (i live in france now ). there was another man next to me who was watching him fall and didn’t even help i shot him a “if looks could kill” after he felt so uncomfortable that he got up and left …. like how the fuck can you just sit there !??and my husband told me a group of people eating were even laughing at the elderly man falling . oh boy they are lucky i didn’t see , let’s just put it that way. part of moving to france sometimes you feel like if something happened no one would help you . i hope to be proven wrong. that was someone father someone’s family member. how can you not help the elderly ? i’m proud to be married to someone with a big heart . the man acted as if it made his whole day that we took something negative and turned it heart warming .

What a story! Thank you for sharing it. Bless Richard's heart! He was your Knight in shing armour. I can imagine that you were both smiling for days after that.

That was super nice of the old man. It could not have been easy for him to chase you at an older age. I can attest to that because I'm old. lol

Oh no! I hope he's okay and didn't break anything. I shudder to think of what might happen if you and your husband were not there. That selfsh man will get the same treatment one day as karma, as will the people who thought it was funny.

Unfortunately, many people do treat the elderly like that. I think it's universal. They get angry because we are slower and they run around us, sometimes almost knocking us over. Or they act like they don't see us. Wait till they are older. Oh yeah, they don't think it's going to happen.

People like you and your husband who help and care about the elderly are angels. I know that Marina also loves and helps them.

This morning at Starbucks, my drink was $3.58 so I tipped the Barista that made it $10. She was so appreciative, thanked me and said 'You're the sweetest'.
I appreciate it but sweet is not something I'd describe myself because I can be the biggest cunt when it comes to bullshit.
I'm ruthless when it comes to dealing with cunts and assholes.

As I was leaving I left the store $20 tip. It feels good to be kind.

I'm still without a vehicle and happy AF. I make enough to Uber, Uber eats, have groceries delivered, and pay for gas (which is never accepted) to friends and family who help me run an errand or two. That last bit is really just an excuse to spend time with loved ones as I take them out to eat...food is a Love Language for me haha.

I still tip anywhere from 25-30% to these service workers and continue to donate small amounts to Love Without Boundaries for the child trafficking fund.

Wanted to share the time I tipped 30% to a Shipt shopper. It was a couple days before Christmas eve and my area in TX had a freeze warning for the holidays. I was scared AF so I stocked up on water, canned food, and Gatorade. That order was heavy AF. I started with a tip of 20%. The doll who shopped for me was super responsive and did a bang up job. Since it was cold AF and that order was heavy AF, after she delivered I changed the tip to 30%. Shoppers don't usually communicate via text after delivery, but she texted OMG girl, THANK YOU...and my heart skipped a beat.

She's now a favorite shopper and has delivered for me 3 times now. I tip her well and it's not a problem as I have the means and like helping her out as she's doing me a great service. Just had to share cause she was so appreciative. I can't do much, but I hope the little I do is enough.

You made each other feel amazing. That's wonderful Sha:). It's sure good to see you! I missed you.

I love your story. It's delightful to hear about people like your shopper and you.
You and she are the dynamic duo, helping each other out.

I know the delivery people have to deal with some bs stuff. My son does DoorDash. One time he got a pretty big order and he said the house was like a mini mansion. They did not tip one dime! He said you have to actually erase the suggested lowest tip and type in 0.00 to do that.
