I don't think they are. Both Finland and Sweden are openly providing weapons to Ukraine. Russia tried invading Finland once, and it didn't go well for them.

Judging from things I have read, Finns still do not think highly of Russians.

I personally took a short break with following everything on Ukraine. It really saddened me seeing photos of all the dead bodies. This didn't have to happen at all.

A friend of mine in the military summed all of this up as Putin wanting to show off. I agree.
It is really wrenching.

He's been a bully for years and no one stood up to him.
He stole Bob Craft's Superbowl ring. (At a business opportunity meeting in Moscow, asked to try it on, said 'You could kill someone with this", then put it in his pocket with two bodyguards at his side glaring at MR. Craft.) The Bush president at the time advised to 'Say it was a gift, so it doesn't hurt US-USSR relations.'

It did not go well in the middle of the Winter of 1939-40. A record setting one for cold and snow. The Finns fought on skis and Soviet casualties were enormous. However the Soviets reinforced themselves and used massive numbers to force the Finns to sue for peace by March , 1940 and give up land on the Karelian Isthmus and nickel rich regions in the far north .
The Finns and Swedes are scared enough of Russia to want to join NATO.

It's doubtful Russia will be able to do this again. Their army is being destroyed. So is their economy. They're not able to manufacturer tanks because they don't have the parts.
The Ruble is back to its pre-invasion value. Europe and countries like India are still buying Russian energy.

The largest vessel sinking since WWII. Not easily replaced since it was built in a Ukrainian shipyard, since bombed by Russia.

And in a nice bit of poetic justice, it was the recipient of that 'Russian warship, go fuck yourself!' message from the Ukrainians on that island.

Russia is trying to pay off its foreign debt in Rubles. The holders of their debt are not agreeing to accept Russia's attempt to unilaterally change terms.
Thus they are facing two imminent defaults. Russia is staying afloat on oil and gas sales.

This really is terrible for the average Russian citizen who just wants to live and let live.
Putin is such a scumbag.

The longer this goes on, the more I become convinced that Russia cannot be allowed to walk away from this with a win. If they acquire the Donbas region and/or a land bridge to Moldova, then this will never stop. IMHO the only way that either country will be free from constant harassment and larger long-term threats is to kick Russia's ass completely out of Ukraine territory.
Not long ago I did not believe that a complete Ukraine victory was possible, but I'm becoming a believer. Yes Russia has a much larger military, but the mobilization of Ukraine's civilian population has been amazing. Frankly it doesn't seem that many of the kids that Russia is sending to Ukraine are any better training than many of the civilians fighting back. The only thing that the world needs to do now is to send Ukraine enough heavy weapons and humanitarian aid to keep them going and counter-act Russia's resource advantages.
Once again some will say, but what about the nukes? If we let Russia win just because it has nukes, we might as well just hand over Ukraine and Moldova now. Heck, maybe we can throw in Finland too. Heck any country with nukes could pull a similar stunt. At a certain point we have to be willing to call the bluff.

You can see other nuclear powers coming to that conclusion. I had some informative talks with proxies of the government of Iran last week, and they seem to firmly believe the US system of government has paralyzed us in our response to threat of nuclear arms.

Those fucking russians are ravaging everything, as I get overwhelmed by the news about women and children raped during this war in Ukraine, more and more footage with russian soldiers raping women and children, considering I am from a country that was under soviet occupation for almost 60 years, all I can do is remind everyone what those monsters are doing, aside the bombing.
Today I feel extra hate. Today it's they celebration day, 9 may, the day they celebrate the end of WW II. This is how they celebrated the victory, by raping 2 million women and children:

I truly hope they don't get to have a victory in Ukraine...

^ Absolutely horrible. Ukrainian women and girls that have been raped by Russian soldiers and that have now fled to Poland are also being denied abortions because of the country's strict abortion laws. If a Polish person helps any Ukrainian refugee to get access to abortion they can face criminal charges as well. Several other countries nearby are also very bad for Ukrainian women and girls to end up in when it comes to abortion rights. What an absolute hell some people seem determined to turn this world into.
Yeah, I've heard about this issue too, it's unbelievable what's going on and what women face, everywhere in the world now. I might as well just not access any kind of threads like this for a while, it's really making me stressed.
What pisses me off, is that Poland is part of european union and they were just shaking their head, when Poland banned abortions. What the fuck... my country is in EU too, we don't have issues with abortion laws (for now), but if one day, a religious party comes in, I feel helpless, since the EU simply sucks a dick when it comes about human rights.

Not long ago I did not believe that a complete Ukraine victory was possible, but I'm becoming a believer. Yes Russia has a much larger military, ...
In reality, the Russian Land Forces are only about 280,000 troops. The rest that our media counts are border guards and naval infantry who's job is really to keep an eye on the army and keep people from leaving without proper authorization. Russian sent about 150,000 troops into Ukraine against the Ukrainian army of about 100,000 troops. A number that has swelled to about 200,000 since the invasion. (Training quality aside, not a bad force.) As I wrote earlier in this thread, Russia's army has major supply problems and those have not been solved in the 70 or so days since I wrote that. Their supply issues remain. Of course, the Russian Land Forces have to keep up with their other defense and training obligations.
...but the mobilization of Ukraine's civilian population has been amazing.

I think another lesson is already here to be learned. Nukes of no nukes, you cannot attack a country that is a part of NATO. The Russians like to threaten Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia, but the truth is, as long as the think the U.S., U.K., and France or any combination thereof will rattle the nuclear sabre, the Russians will keep their hands off. That's why Finland and Sweden are working on joining NATO.

That's what everyone has always thought, from at least the American Civil War until today, that it will be quick, not a drawn out deadly event with lots of suffering on both sides... Sapiens never learn from history.

They are stuck there, right?
I think they were expecting fast and easy conquest. It's hard for them to step out of this and save their face at the same time now.
