Will Smith will continue to thrive as will Chris Rock. Yes they're black men but both are also powerful and wealthy. I hate seeing y'all going back and forth like this, but sometimes in moments like this a person's true character really does come thru.

I've been on Twitter mostly debating this issue and there are so many things surrounding it that I find fascinating. The think pieces: misognoir, white supremacy, white liberalism, the pick me squad... it's been glorious to watch!

I personally take zero issue The Slap ™, but it does make me feel some kinda way when I see people blame Jada for the behavior of two grown ass men. She was quietly sitting there in support of her husband and caught a stray. I refuse to believe that Chris Rock had no idea about her condition. He for whatever reason doesn't like her. Comedians have a team of writers to help them stay current and if NONE of them knew about her alopecia, then he needs a new team.

Also another take that I find unusual are those who have said things like "this is a set back.....this took black folks back a 100 years....not in front of the white folks..."

What I have to say to that is this if someone who isn't black says this then they didn't think much of us in the first place. And if you ARE black and feels this way you are most likely deeply and catastrophicly have been impacted by white supremacy. That is the key agenda, to make us feel less than and unworthy and also inhuman. Do not fall for that because we are magnificent and worthy of grace even when tested on a public stage.

In closing I can NOT believe that this incident has made me co-sign with something Nicki Minaj said:

"You just got to witness in real time what happens in a man’s soul when he looks over to the woman he loves & sees her holding back tears from a “little joke” at her expense. This is what any & every real man feels in that instant. while y’all seeing the joke he’s seeing her pain

The husband gets a front row seat to his wife’s pain… he’s the 1 consoling her… drying her tears behind closed doors when those cameras go off. Social media has made ppl feel that these “husbands” won’t ever run into them in real life. (Continued again(last time)on next tweet)

Imagine what it must feel like to be losing your hair to the point where you have to shave it bald. You think that’s easy to deal with for anyone? You don’t think she’s cried about that many times? 2022 y’all gon have to see these men about those jokes you made about their wives."

I know my hair is the biggest deal to me..

My Dad was the same way..

One of the things I was glad of, is he didn't lose his hair during chemo.

Laughing and smiling is a normal reaction in the moment when we're embarrassed and hurt and not knowing how to respond or processed what exactly happened with something that is totally unexpected. There's no one reaction that fits all or how we think people should react. I would personally feel very bad for someone on the receiving end of a joke at their expense regardless of whether they were smiling or crying without any hesitation of telling the joker totally not cool or fuck right off!

I've seen a lot of comments on twitter about Will Smith smiling but guess what, it doesn't matter. What matters is when you listen and saw what Chris Rock joked about Jada, how do YOU feel about it?

You know there are plenty of people that are smiling and going on with life when there's a recent loss in the family then break down weeks or months later.

Read the thread, Poke! ^::)

So, I saw Will kinda laughing at first (after Chris's joke), kinda looked like Jada was smiling, I didn't see her look mad or roll her eyes, that doesn't mean she didn't do it..

Reading Aurora 's comments I agree, to me, what I saw she looked a bit surprised /uncomfortable, that's my take doesn't mean it's accurate!

@PGD

I have a hard time believing that Will would have done this to Ricky Gervais. Will knew Chris wouldn't fight back.

Ricky has send things ten times WORSE than Chris Rock and noone has had the nerve to go up to him and slap him.

Another thing that kinda bothers me is that noone came to Chris's aid. Where was security?

Make no mistake, had it been Ricky Gervais, Will would've probably been gunned down.

I think we will see the extent of Will's power and influence in Hollywood here in a few days.
If he has to return that Oscar then yes, it's a big damn deal especially since Weinstein got to keep his.

As much as people love to claim that they don't care about celebrities, they're heavily influenced by celebrity culture here in the west.
So I think yes, Will has set black people back by 100 years. If Will punched out a man at a club for talking shit about Jada, everyone would be calling him a hero. But this was the Live at the Oscars where dry comedy is a commonplace and white folks make up the majority of viewers so yea it "looks" some type of way

I think two things can be true. Even in this situation, the anti-blackness is thick AF. You are absolutely right.

You are absolutely right but Jada can also sue Chris for verbally assaulted her with malice by humiliating her in front of the world.
There are plenty of videos of people being arrested and charged for verbal assault.

I totally agree with the bolded parts but that also depends on what kind of shit they talk about. For people that have been verbally abused and bullied, their take would totally be different than those who have never experienced it.

Personally for me I would totally slap a bitch and have for getting in my face and say shit to me like some of these hoes on here running their fucking mouths but I can guarantee you they would not do that in person because I'm batshit crazy. Emphasis on my batshit crazy-ness because that’s a dangerous sight to be hold.
.

I’m not a lawyer but I think you can only sue for physical assault not verbal (unless it’s defamation)

Since he’s a comedian he probably has more leeway on the verbal assault considering comedians do these type of roast all the time

I would have slapped someone for talking shit on my loved ones …..especially if I was ready to pay possible legal fees afterwards

I still think this is a WELL orchestrated PR Stunt

These actors didn’t get to the top by meekly sitting in their seats. They’re out here creating opportunities even if it means creating a very well planned “act” for the media who is eating it up like hotcakes.

Jada isn’t saying anything because ….. as long as no one ever finds out it’s a pr stunt then they can all profit from this for a while.

I get requests for Brown constantly from a lot of the dancers. Maybe they forgot or never knew. I'd still like just 3 minutes alone with that motherfucker ;D

...it seemed like the result of a lot of pent up anger, that this incident was the straw that broke the camel's back. I do agree that him basically being completely emasculated all over social media for the last couple years is the cause of said pent up anger and I do agree that this is mostly thanks to Jada constantly spilling all their business. I don't see how everyone has interpreted what Jada shares into Will being a cuck though, they've had an open marriage for years and Will was linked to other women long before the Jada/August 'entanglement.' As far as Chris's joke being too cruel because of her having alopecia, I doubt he knew. I don't think most people stay up-to-date on Jada Pinkett Smith's health, I follow a lot of celeb gossip and I didn't even know.

Yikes I didn't know that. I was under the impression that she met him through him being friends with her son but that's even creepier.

Pretty much my take on it as well, but I don't follow celebrities much (like I had no fucking clue about her medical condition--nor apparently did Rock). I did see a whole lot of people laughing at Will on social media back when her affair with August was being publicized.

Looked like a pretty good slap, I don't think it was staged.

fetishqueen
03-29-2022, 02:26 PM
I've only skimmed this thread but read something about him not knowing she had alopecia. So what if she had had cancer? That could be another reason for her hair loss and a far worse one to joke about. He should have kept his mouth shut. I love Will Smith and don't think this will do him any harm at all. He might have looked better though if he'd gone up on stage and called Chris out for being personal, he would come out looking a lot better.

I think it was just a matter of Chris Rock's joke made Will angry, perhaps because of Jada's struggles with alopecia, and he lost it, and went on stage and hit Chris.

Agree there is nothing wrong with joking however, when it comes to taking jabs at hardships, that is where it can cross the line.
I don't think it is ever okay to put your hands on someone though, regardless of the joke.

This is tough. On one hand I see her point.

on the other hand I don’t think Will Smith would be as famous and successful if Jada was that domineering. Domineering type women will control you to the point you aren’t yourself anymore. And they end up being more successful and richer.

Indont think it’s too that point yet.

Ding ding ding!

Point proven.

The man that gave that speech isn’t the Will Smith we knew.

Also him being Will Smith serves her. I mean, she would be a small time actress without the smith name.

But the thing is, these types of personalities can’t help but to ruin everyone and everything in their path.

^ I think people forget that men are victims of narcissists too. I’ve known many women that were with toxic narcissists, stayed and kept having babies too. If we said those women liked it, we’d be called victim blamers. I think in a lot of these situations the person feels they have no choice. Imagine if they did divorce, Jada could write one hell of a tell all and sit pretty for the rest of her life. He’ll have to pay a hefty price either way.

I don’t doubt most people in Hollywood have narcissistic tendencies but full blown narcissist?

I’m not saying he likes being abused (if he’s being abused) but he chose that. All of their kids are older and he could leave anytime but he hasn’t.

Maybe he is in a sunken place. Idk.

Candace Owens is a clout chaser and I have a hard time listening because will say ANYTHING against black people because she panders to white supremacists for money. She’s gross.

The thing with Will and Jada is because they’ve told us so much it’s easy to speculate and come to our own conclusions.

I personally believe that Jada is a text book narcissist. Several others have come to that conclusion. Candace stopped short of that but it’s clear even she can see what’s happening.

As for Candace is concerned, it’s why i said this is probably the only time I’d agree with her. I want to like her because I lean more conservative and there aren’t many black female conservatives willing to voice their opinion but i too feel she’s a bit too harsh when it comes to people of color. However, on this matter, she’s spot on imo.

You can’t diagnose someone as a narc from a dark video clip.

Everyone in the crowd was also laughing as well. And people were probably thinking will walking up and slapping Chris was part of the act, and in shock until they realized his reaction when he sits back down and looks seriously upset.

My "narcs always reveals themselves" comment didn't mean the video proved she was a narc.
It meant the video shows she approved of him ruining his moment to "please" or "protect" her. Just like she's approved of him humiliating himself to bolster her profile for the last two years now.

In my opinion the biggest sign the woman is a narcissist was her calling the birthday party he took THREE YEARS to plan "worthless" or was it "a ridiculous display of ego". He's been trying to please her since they got married and it's never ever enough. This is why will released that one video talking about how he "retired from trying to make Jada happy".

Also narcs always try to twist things, you catch them cheating and it's oh we were never meant to be monogamous anyway. LOL.

As for them all being in cahoots with each other, doubt that. Chris clarified that last night during his first show.

I've dated enough narcs to know one what I see one :)

I've seen people saying that this video proves she enjoyed what Will did but I don't necessarily interpret it that way. She might have just been as shocked and confused as everyone else and laughing out of nervousness, or she might have recognized how disastrous what he just did could have been to his career and was just laughing trying to play it off and/or was trying to diffuse Will's anger.
