And this is in the same city where apparently, a few years ago, just about anything could and did happen in the clubs, until the city regulated that shit right out.

Wow- I didn't even know that was possible. I never would have believed it. That's the best strip club industry news I've heard in years...that a city CAN actually go from dirty to clean, successfully. Who or what is behind this turnaround?

I need a 1k night...it's been awhile!

^^Strict laws which hold the CLUBS responsible, as much as the girls. In most cities, it's mainly the GIRLS who are held responsible, so club managers have no reason not to look the other way when shit is going on. Here, their very license to stay in business depends on it, so they HAVE to make sure things are kept clean. This is really the ONLY thing that will work. We've all seen how doing it the other way works ::)

I wouldn't have believed it either, but it's happening. This is the same city where the infamous Gold Club sex scandal took place a few years ago. And now the girls are doing airdances and making money. HA

Part of the dancer contract I had to sign to work at this club included a statement from the club saying, basically, 'you must abide by the laws - we will not have our business license jeopardized by your irresponsible actions'.

Perhaps, rather than relaxing strip club laws, we should be lobbying for STRICTER laws on the CLUBS themselves....

Nice! Maybe that's why Vancouver's held out as an airdance city (mostly)...the clubs are responsible here too. I've never heard of a girl getting arrested for contact, only clubs getting liquor license suspensions.

Interesting, I hadn't realized what a factor club accountability was before, though of course now that you say it, it's pretty obvious!

Yeah, I first realized it in Phoenix, when the longtime club DJ was telling how the clubs actually fought the city to make the girls responsible instead of the clubs, so that "if one girl did something wrong the whole club wouldn't get shut down". Well, the problem with that is, when clubs are no longer responsible they don't give a rat's ass and they'll gradually let anything and everything happen. From what I saw there, mileage in Phoenix went up alot right after the stripper license law took effect. All the clubs do is post the laws for the girls to see, but from what I could tell they don't really do anything to make sure it's enforced. Because they no longer have to.

Now that I'm here I'm seeing the opposite side of that coin.

And this is not to say that strippers are inherently irresponsible and will do whatever they can get away with. NO. Many of the girls that have been hired in recent years WILL, sure. But really, the problem is that too many will succumb to pressure (human nature) and that mgmt actually begins to subtly encourage bad behaviour and avoid telling newer girls exactly what the laws are. Most managers I've met didn't seem to even KNOW the laws themselves - they only knew whatever bullshit rules the club had, and of course that's all they ever told the girls. We all know the clubs' rules rarely follow the letter of the law - especially if they're not forced to comply.
