It's funny this thread was bumped, because I just flagged a Craigslist post. It was for a bachelor party company and it said "white only. No other races need apply". I just wish I had saved the thread. I've been seeing many ads like that on sites.
I've seen racism in many of the clubs I worked in, and it stinks. I remember seeing one manager reject a beautiful black girl with a great figure (think Beyonce) for a fat, ugly blonde. Even though I'm white, I often pass as Hispanic/Native American, and have been rejected for being "too dark", while they hired the homely fair skinned girl. Unfortunately, years ago I realized that ugly, fat blondes had a better chance of getting hired than anyone who was dark. It's not right.
Even in terms of customers I've preferred the older black guys over white guys. The black guys seemed to be more about the entertainment. The white guys mostly wanted to take me home. Both groups of guys were professionals but different in their treatment. The black guys were often watched more.
Interesting to note that most of the dancers I've gotten along with the best were the ethnic girls.

Maybe they assume that more girls of color attract men who are trouble or don't have much money. Look what happened to Minxx in Vegas during NBA All-Star Weekend.
Incidently, what color was the guy that fired shots at Penthouse? Minxx wasn't the only club in Vegas that had a shooting. I think the media focused so much on Minxx because a celebrity was involved. There was a fatality shooting at Sapphire but that's being kept quiet. That's something that makes one go Hmmmm.

Isn't it disgusting?
Even though I'm mixed with very light skin, I've experienced that sort of discrimination too.
Not to be a bitch, but I've been turned away from plenty of clubs who claimed there was 'no room' for me - when I KNOW I'm way hotter than half their girls..... I'd see fat, ugly, slobbish, acne ridden white chicks roaming the floor. Those girls are good enough, but I'm not? Talk about an insult! :-[
The club I'm at now refuses to let me and a few other girls work nights, and we're all 'ethnic' looking. They keep saying theres too many night girls. Yet they keep hiring and hiring dumpy underage white chicks with zero dancing experience. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

Here is the bottom line. I am a light caramel colored Dominican lady and here is the scoop ladies.History always repeats itself. Especially when the economy sucks
things get worse.
When I first started dance I wanted, so bad to dance in the so called top tier clubs.
but my body said no. For 1 no matter how much weight I lost my hips and booty. Was to much. When I first started I had wonderful, dreams abut traveling around the country dancing. Then the dream was slapped out my mouth. the truth is until customers complain and stop going to these racist own places. it will remain the same.
I remember one time doing audition, and then being told I was too thick. But yet while I was on stage the customers white and black came to watch me. When I was on my way out of the club. A customer ask me will I be back. I said to him no. he said why you are a breathe of fresh air. I said well go have talk with management.

Here is another phenom. Somtimes they will hire a woman of color and from london
or some other country before hiring an African American girl from the states.
Go figure.
I remember when there were harldy any black feautre dancers. I called an agency one time and asked why they hardly had any ladies of color they said.
because clubs owners would hardly book them.
Now as for as customers ignoring you on stage.Yeah they ignore you onstage but would fuck you behind closed doors. Thats the old sneak out to the slave quarters mentality.
But how about this for size. one time I making rounds for dances. A man of my own race siad to me. I did not come here to see you I cam here to see them.
as he nodded his head towards some Caucasian girls on stage.
here is how I feel and somethings I have accepted.
1.blond ladies for the most part will always rule in this industry. that is just what 70% of America thinks is beautiful. Oh and especially in the adult industry.
2. As a Latina, and I mean darker Latinas, creole, etc. we always have to give 200%
3. No matter how ugly out of shape, acne scared or drugged out a Caucasian girl is.
middle aged jimcrow assholes who own the clubs will always pick them.
4. Why dance in a club where you may not be wanted anyway.
special note. ( As women of color here is how we are seen by some in the industry)
Lazy,Thieves,Unclean,Trouble makers.
For my safety and sanity I try to dance were I am welcomed. One time a guy called me a coon.Well let just say Heineken bottles are great. Some may say typical reaction. I was taught if you are going to start something be ready to finish it.
Maybe I just grew weary of fighting the Jimcrow shit. I say them have there racist ass clubs.
What we need to do is open a chain of racially diverse clubs. That is would we need.
Ladies did you know Dorthy Danridge was forced to pee in dixie cup
as well as many other entertainers of color. They could perform for Caucasians.
But not use their bathrooms. Let not forget Josephine baker.
Also my beautiful sisters. unfortunately the aunt Jemimah syndrome still exsit.
My Latina sisters you are always supposed hot and spicy
I currently do phone sex. When they do ask for a a black girls this what they ask for. big with big giant tits and giant ass. Oh and how about 95% of my calls are for Caucasian characters. Most of my calls are from the Midwest. Oh and here is the kicker lately they ask if I will be there little n****R slut. oh yeah
5. A lot of the top tier clubs are rip offs to your earnings anyway.
Take care ladies and be careful out there.

Well hello thread! Re-reading this has made me SO glad I retired. A lot of the stuff mentioned here really weighed on me over the years. I was always a happier stripper when I worked in black clubs even though I didn't always have the big ol' ass n' titties because I was fully accepted there and I knew I wasn't going to be turned down because I was black.
It's sickening to see fat, ugly, classless white girls making money while we get rejected. It happened WAY too often at my last club and it made me want to scream.

Here's my uneducated guess as to what the club manager is thinking: The vast majority of customers are white men. When white men get a few drinks, they can get loose and crude about issues of race. Most guys are cool, but not all. Some drunks openly resent seeing a black guy get a lap dance from a stunning blonde. Managers know that they have to keep the club white to keep the money coming in and keep the crowd cool. After all, people are drinking a lot and someone might say something out of line and who knows what will happen with a bunch of guys drinking and some racial incident breaks out.
Too many black dancers will draw too many black men, which will scare off the white guys with the big money. White people generally avoid going any place where black men might gather. So a strip club that starts attracting groups of black men to see black dancers will start losing money, because white men will go elsewhere. And groups of black men getting dances from white dancers just might make some--not all--white patrons uncomfortable. So, just don't hire black dancers and keep the number of black customers to a minimum.
This quote right here is from 2002 and i hate to say it but it is oh so true. Two stories
Me and brother went into this stripclub that we were "told was mixed" and got WTF stares as soon as we walked in. They had a 2 black dancers there who said more were coming (they didn't tho) so we chilled. I'm not into white dancers but this one dancer that got onstage with a body on here that i had to go tip, well as soon as i sat down the bouncer left the door and came and stood right behind me. I just laughed it off
On occassion we went into this stripclub with this HUGE front door as soon as we opened the door everyone in the club literally stopped and started looking at us, we never got further than the door tho because one we saw nothing but white people in there and the main reason was because they were playing country music so we knew this wasn't the club for us...lmaoooo

I am saying this because of the 2002 quote. So excuse me everyone. White have upheld the the precious white pussy for years. have made wallets out of a black mans balls for even looking at it. That is fact not a opinion
But they can make a black woman his mistress and nothing will happen to him
google the word Quadroon balls.
You did not walk in that club Grindonme because of what you saw. But yet white men boldy will walk in a black club if he so chooses. That is fact as well.
I have seen that happen many times and nothing will happen to him.
Here is th fucked up thing. A white dancer can come black club they will let her work not matter what she looks like. But let me try that same thing in reverse.
Some may not like what. I am going to say but is true. The chains are off but nothing has really changed.
Whose dick Halle Berry have to suck to get an award mmm let me think. Oh right a white one. I am of mixed race. Latin, Louisiana creole, .Unless you are passable
my sisters the bull shit will not stop.
Again if we really want a club that is diverse with all kinds of shapes sizes races
we need to open our own chain like the spearmint rhino. mm I woonder how many dancers are really with me on that one.
As for me Once I get back to fighting weight (lol) I am going back to clubs that will embrace my hips. Again some of the so called topteir clubs are rip offs to dancers and customers. When I first started dancing an older dancer said this. She made more money in so called hole in the wall clubs.Than ones with the bright lights and all the fixings (lol) Alright ladies take care

Not every dancer of color is ghetto or from the projects. Again the bottom line is that white man can go to any club he wants and dance with who he wants.
A white woman can go dance were she wants most of the.
A white dancer can get in her car right now travel around and be able to work
asap. Now let me try the same thing.. I will get hit with all kinds of excuses.
here is another thing. A white dancer can buy a bottle of bleach and some boobs
lose couple pounds and sh can be a star.
Not let me try that. Ahhh its not going to work. I can change my hair color but they do not have a treatment to change my race or skin tone.
Some may say I harsh Bt it is a freaking fact. Here sis agood example
A girl who was brunette at this club I worked was a little chubby and had a flat chest. Well things really changed around for her. She got some boobs. dyed her hair lost some weight. I need not say more.
I am not mean person But a woman who has seen a lot of bullshit. A white girl can pop her booty or shake it and its cute.If I do it I am considered ghetto. depending on the club I am. I personally will stick were I am embraced flaws and all.

I had to put up with that- that's why I left the white clubs and never looked back. To those dancers who can make it work, I applaud you for staying and prospering. I have bullshit to deal with at the other clubs, but I won't agree to deal with racism on top of everything I have to deal with as an exotic dancer.

Same here, on both counts. I'm usually thrilled when a well dressed black man comes in on his own, sits and orders a drink. It's a huge plus for me if he wears glasses, and if he laughs at my jokes. Don't really know why, but the sale is almost guaranteed at that point unless he has a girl he's already coming in to see.
I am noticing that there is kind of two sections in my club's DR. Two sections of the mirror and vanity area are bisected by the DJ booth, and usually the blonde white girls sit on the left side and almost all the black girls and a few others hang out on the right side. It's not intentional by the club or anything, but people sort of naturally separate that way. I tend to go back and forth between the two sections. A lot of white girls at my club don't mingle with the black girls either and I do. I've learned so much from black women, and I can't see the point when white people tend to deny that. They dance to hip-hop and shake their butts (usually badly) but when it comes time to pick another girl to go to the CR with, they take their white buddy instead of a black girl. It's all very hypocritical.
But at least we have a good mixture of black, white and latina girls AND customers. And that's pretty good for this area.
As a customer, I'd spend all my money on the black/latina women. My dream is to one day have the money to go club hopping all around Atlanta and shower women with cash. I don't want to ask for anything in return, just give.

Anyone who thinks every dancer of color is from the projects, or ghetto, is just plain stupid and that has nothing to do with being white or black.
The club I would like to dance at wont have me because I am not tan. I am very pale, I am not willing to ruin my skin and possibly get cancer from tanning beds just to fit in.

Latinas are often seen as exotic and are therefore in demand in many areas.
Here is a true story:
I walked into a club after talking to a manager of the phone who told me they were in fact hiring and to come down. I've been told I sound "white" on the phone so I guess he was surprised when I walked in with all my hips and curly weave. He asked if I was mixed and I said no, I'm black. He told me that they weren't hiring and to try back in a few months. So a few months later I walk back in (without calling first) and I had in a long straight weave. He didn't recognize me from a few months before and when he asked what my ethnicity was, I told him I was Creole. He hired me on the spot without an audition. What the fuck is that shit?

I hope I haven't missed anything with all the responses that have been made to this thread but since we're on the topic about ethnic dancers facing discrimination when it comes to getting hired at some clubs, can we also discuss the treatment of ethnics vs. white dancers and best way to handle it once you are hired?
I have a co-worker who happens to be mixed and has a fair complexion. She complains that one of the managers is always giving her shit about her LD and the way she shakes her ass. Does anyone else experience this? If so, what's the best way to handle it? I'm surprised that anyone would give her shit over her style. The customers (of all races) certainly don't have a problem with it. Do many of you feel favorism when a floor guy has something to say to you about your LD yet, allows a white dancer to get away with murder during her LD? Perfect example, a customer honks your butt yet, a customer of a white girl has his hand down the front of her thong and the bouncer turns a blind eye to it. I heard about this happening at a club I used to work at.
Also, how do some of you feel about the floor guys and how eager they are to direct white girls or latinas with a fair complexion over to guys they think have money to spend yet, leave the other ethnic dancers to fend for themselves?

JuicyCamella-
Perhaps you should be working in So Cali. There are two clubs I work in in which I am a blond, thin minority. I am half Latin, but in dark lights, and being small, I read as Caucasian.
My situation is totally switched. The bigger, darker girls bank in the two clubs I work in. ( I work in four from time to time).
So, I have experienced racism as well. Being half Latin, with naturally curly hair, when I had it dark, people would ask me if I spoke English (which is, yeah, my first language).
I totally feel you. But I gotta admit, when I am making a measly $250 in one of those two clubs, I see the darker, thicker girls making twice what I do or more.

ello,Ladies
I apologize about the comment I made. But that is how I see things. Now here is the situation ladies. I am Creole/Latina my skin is not that of JLO. so automatically I am classified as a light skin African American. Unless I come in with green contacts and long hair.
My skin color is a little darker that Halle Berry bit not by much. So to some I am not Latina. Because the media only portrays only one type Latina. Unless they took a look at the Cuban ladies volley ball team.
I to have had the same thing happen, to me as far a coming back to a club to audition with a different look. To my Caucasian sisters. I am not a mean girl. I am not hateful. For hating you would mean hating myself. because of my French and Cajun blood.
But the whole adult Industry is still in Jim Crow area. Just look around at some of the conventions you might attend. Hell look around in some of the so called top tier clubs. Count how many Ethnic women are there. The standard of beauty may be changing slowly but not fast enough. Then again there should not be standard of beauty.
So badly I wish I could dance around the country. But I know whats waiting for me
a lot of you can work day shift or we are not hiring now. To my sisters we must alwyas give more than 100%. Our makeup must be flawless. Our hair must be flawless. nails flawless, really take the time pick out your costumes. Manicure and pedicure flawless. Because the minute you slip on these you are considered ghetto or trashy. How do I know?
I have witnessed so called house mothers and mangers pick at the slightest thing on a lady of color. Mean while a dancer that was Caucasian had a broken nail. Pedicure was mess, no one said a word to her.
Seeing Caucasian dancers get away with murder. While I played by the rules.
I will never forget when I tipped this the stupid dj Who is paid a salary anyway.
Who is not sweating on stage. oops I digress .He said under his breathe
to another dancer that is what expect from them. The thing so I tipped him the same amount as anyone else.
That is when I went flip mode on his ass and his true colors came out. It took 4 dancers to hold me back.
That is when I said it is not worth it to dance it certain places. Again I say we need to start our own, chain of clubs and take control from the men who dominate the strip club industry. How about giving our own private parties. mmm
something needs to be done.

I have no solution to this, I just want to share my story...
I'm a mixed-race woman with heavy African influence and I look like it, I have to agree that yes, the "ism" is present. At the same time, that same "ism" is alive in most parts of the entertainment industry with various reasonings keeping them alive. I am not saying that it's right, but knowing it's there, I've tried my damnest to turn it in my favor. I feel like to more it falls into my favor, resistance is lessened.
I started dancing in a racially diverse club and when I moved on to a different area, I saw the "ism" pop up. Not just about being brown-skinned, but how "white" can you be. Yes, I have been told to "whiten up" those being the exact words. Meaning they told me to adapt some of the stereotypical behaviors, speech/lingo and looks the average SC patron would identify with white women. Admittedly, I am a very light shade of brown (high yellow), green eyes, etc. so I cannot pretend that it would be impossible for me to "pass" for at least a half-white ancestry. I see the difference in the way that I've been treated versus darker-skinned dancers and I would not wish anyone be treated differently based on their race, but it happens all the same. I am not afraid to try to work a mostly white club, over the years I found that it's actually easier money for me if there are not many dancers that look like me. I play up the "exotic" aspect of it all, difficult to do if there are a lot of dancer who look similar to you.
I strive to remain positive in it all. There's almost always a way to turn a complication to your favor. Again, I'll never make excuses or say it's right to let that "ism" take control. Hell, at my non-SC job I am most "exotic" looking person who works there so I get a lot of that "ism" popping up. I strive to turn it to my favor every time. It doesn't always work, but I find it easy to see that attitude for the masked insecurity that it really is. I've gotten the run-around from clubs before, and I tried other options. I get the 3am shift at a certain club in vegas, ok that means I can audition for main shift at other clubs until I find the one that works for me. I don't harp on the fact that I didn't get my way, I formulate a plan to make my way.

As dancers it's also important to be conscious of when we enact our own subconscious (or sometimes more overt) racism. Like I've heard other dancers talk about how all the Mexicans try to be aggressive in champagne rm, how black guys and indians are cheap, how white guys are the most generous. Well, in my experience, none of those things have held true!! I've also heard other dancers talk about the girls as 'ghetto' or 'uncultured' (which are obviously racial comments) and it's so frustrating!

Oh I so feel you...and I've also seen ads on Craigslist where they say they are looking for blondes or "the girl next door." It pisses me off. I've gone to clubs where I see the dumpy fat girl doing bumps behind the bar and the manager says that they have too many girls. Once I auditioned and they said I didn't smile enough. WTF I still don't know why a club wouldn't want a hot black chick with all natural, perky 32F boobs and long legs.

I don't think it's good enough for white dancers to say "that sucks." I think white dancers should speak out against racism in the club to the management and to customers.

^^The industry's too competitive to that. That's just not gonna happen.
Also, people are really good at PRETENDING empathy, y'know? The girls at your job might say, "Oh, that sucks." But I'm sure quite a few of them get a wave of satisfaction from knowing that there's one less girl to worry about. Stripping =/activism.

it's 2008.... this makes me upset that people are still like this- especially in situations like Venusace described.... this is sad because i grew up in diverse areas where almost everyone has more than one ethnicity and this was "country ass" Virginia were multi racial couples and friends live in harmony... and my dumb ass thought things must be the same across mainstream America- especially in major cities

I don't know if I feel guilty enough to do anything about it. :-\
However, I don't have the view that restricting black girls is "one less girl on the floor" because I personally don't feel that black girls are in competition with me. I feel the same about the Barbie-type girls and other girls who have a completely different look from me.

^^That's understandable. Also, I hope I didn't offend anyone. I totally understand that and I think that's just human nature to look out for one's own best interest.

I think I'm in love with you for writing this post. Discrimination against ethnic adult entertainers has gone on for WAY too long now. It's amazing too, because there's such a huge DEMAND for ethnic adult performers from both the ethnic and "white" audience just as there's a demand for white performers from the ethnic audience.
In the exotic dancer world at least you can get immediate "proof" from the audience that ethnic women make just as much money as their white counter parts. I wish it was the same in the porn world, it's changing but I've never seen so much blatent racism in my LIFE since getting into porn.

some of us white girls do speak up. we walk out too when pissed about it.
I haven't been able to work because I effectively blacklisted myself when I had my fit over racist things a couple of weeks ago.
So I am now searching for another club and/or other work.
not all white girls just let it happen and happen, sometimes we do speak up.

^^its true. cause i do all the time at my club too. i meet with the same blank stares and excuses that i am sure everyone else does. when customers are racist i pretty much have to speak up and leave the table. its a real money killer when race and politics come up. it's actually a real conversation killer too as i have a tendency to correct my less "eyes wide open" white friends. but, my daughter's father is black. so my stomach gets sick every time i encounter it as i picture it to her face and not mine. it 's the same with the music rules in our club. it is not as tho i try to picture her as a dancer but i think you get my drift.
we ALL have to make the best of this hell created on earth. i believe this disparity exists as a distraction. while we are so busy fearing, hating and fighting because of color we are getting fucked from all sides by our government. as long as we keep our minds on race wars they can do what the fuck they want. we all have to stand up and change it first in our personal lives. extending our social networks to include people of all origins ,colors, religions etc. we have to continue this in our professional lives allowing trust to cross color lines. let me shut my idealistic mouth now for tho i will put my money on it ..i have to run. it is my babies birthday!!! gotta get her up for school. peace and love.

palazio in austin hires a lot of black girls and as far as i can tell does not discriminate at all - other than your actual appearance - ie, overweight or just not so cute - i'm 1/2 asian 1/2 swiss so i've got that exotic thing going for me and typically always been hired - idk - it's hit and miss. and to the clubs that do discriminate - their loss! variety is the spice of life!

Juicycaramellatina- I concur with every single word you typed on this thread. The truth hurts many. Many are in denial. No one outside of us can ever truly understand what we go through simply because...they don't have to.
The majority of men in this world don't see us as being "Precious", but they will hold more value to other cats. It is what it is.
I feel you...on all levels.

Nothing irritates me more than people who seem to think that racism just disappears in the club and all girls are suddenly equal when they are naked. It's bullshit. I have seen dancers of color who are ten times hotter and more talented than any of the white girls in the club have to work doubly harder to bank. I have seen those girls who do bank have to put up with the seemingly benign racism of customers who think their money entitles them to project their fucked fantasies of black female bodies all over the dancer. "Yeah, pretend we are in a rap video! grind it girl!" I have heard this in a lap dance room.
The other day I was choosing my music and some big spender came up to me and said, "hey you're beautiful."
"Thanks! I'm more beautiful in your lap." wink "wanna dance?"
"Yeah, just don't pick any n**** music."
I told him I don't dance with racists and walked away and probably lost some money, but that is just disgusting to me. A guy in another club I worked at dropped an N-bomb and I tried to get him kicked out and the management let him stay and ten minutes later he approached a black dancer and asked her if she smoked crack and could she get him some. Why should she have to put up with that shit? He should have been kicked out.

as a white girl who works in mainly black clubs IT GOES BOTH WAYS! I am so sick of people talking about how whites are racists. "White Precious Pussy"
Sorry, but that was uncalled for.
it wasn't uncalled for. i am tired of people not talking about how racist whites are. you act as if this is some prominent discussion in the world. It isn't. It does not go both ways equally. There is no comparison. Look around you and you will hardly see equality anywhere, so don't try to imagine it up in this case.
It does not go both ways equally.

Some girls DO give a shit and take a stand!
Last night a white girl said she overheard a large group of backwoods racists making ignorant remarks about a black dancer. She raised hell about it with the management/bouncers, and the bouncers threw them all out!
That story made my night.

That is awesome. The only way to change it is to interrupt it and to let people know that shit isn't cool. That makes me happy.

I have criticized and chastised people who spoke in stereotypes and racist terms. I have gotten them kicked out for being bigots. However, we don't have many black girls at our club.

At my last club (in backwoods Pennsylvania), the only other black girl and I got called "niggers" by a group of 4 guys while we were onstage. When we told the club owner, he goes "Oh, that sucks," completely unaffected, and leaves. After I compose myself in the back lounge they have, I go out and he's laughing and cavorting with them, apologizing for the "misunderstanding," and giving them free passes to come back.
At the end of the night, a bouncer called some straggler "gay," and quickly whipped out a sarcastic "Oh, wait: that's not PC. Guess I can't say that here..." and was egged on by a manager who once returned a call to some mystery guy who a dancer (falsely) assumed was Mexican, and said things like "You fuckin' beaner, stop calling or I'll have your ass deported."
When I switched clubs (still backwoods PA, but slightly less so), I expressed, in full detail, the racism that I had to deal with perviously, and how it made me feel, and they assured me that I would -not ever- have to deal with it again. So when some guy looked at me in disgust onstage and "subtly" lifted his shirt to show me a confederate flag belt buckle as he prepared to turn his chair as to completely face away from the stage, you can believe that wasn't tolerated.
I'm so scared and nervous about working at big Pittsburgh clubs because I've heard so many bad things about Blush and Erotica in relation to race.

xsomna: That is so fucking terrible. That is exactly what I mean when I say that white dancers have no clue what a challenge it can be to be a woman of color dancing at places like that. That made me ill.
I live in Pittsburgh, but I've never entered any of the clubs there, so I have no idea. I would think that those clubs would be better than the back country ones, but who knows.

I'm glad the second club didn't tolerate that dumb-ass's idiocy.
Why, exactly, do people STILL insist that the confederate flag isn't racist?

Strip clubs are for men to unwind...whoever owns the club decides what and who he wants in the club, thats the whole reason for owning a club in the first place...socially speaking, normally whites like to be around mostly whites and blacks to be around mostly blacks...and it goes the same for most nationalities or ethnic groups
If you are a good looking girl of any color you are going to make your money...Esp if your are in big market cities like ATL or Wash DC there are plenty of black clubs to dance at as well as clubs with blacks whites and all nationalities
I think if you are a black girl then you shouldn't have a problem at black clubs ...and if you are trying to work at some predominantly white clubs where they obviously don't want you there then you are probably going to always have some problems.
