View Full Version : Newbie Question re: Carrying $$$
^^Does that actually work? Do guys see you with money and think to give you more? I've always wondered about that. I'm afraid that if they see how much I have, they'll think, "Well, she's making enough, I don't need to give her more." Hmm... I'll have to experiment.
I have had guys say "wow you have more money than I do" but they almost always still buy dances. I carry my $$ like that because it works best for me not to lose it, not because Im "showing off" to make more $$. Thats just a perk.

I always trade the 1's, 5's 10's etc in for 20's 50's or 100's by the end of the night I have fewer bills.
The garter thing doesnt really work for me. I prefer to carry it in a purse etc.

Just out of curiousity does anyone else have an allergic reaction to the money? I cant have it touching my skin or I get a huge rash! What do you suggest? Ive been using a plastic cash bag (like you put coins in from the bank) so its not touching my skin.

If you have access to your own locker with a lock I would take in a small purse and periodically stash your money in your locker. This way if you did lose your purse the majority of your cash would be safe.
Nooooo!! Do NOT do this! There was a gir who had her money in her locker locked up and she came back minutes later to find her locker broken into and her money gone

Pretty much all the dancers here carry purses. It seems WAY more secure to me than the garter thing. In two years of dancing I don't think I've known anyone who lost their purse, even while drunk. One girl got hers stolen off the stage once, but she put it in a foolish place, where customers had access. I usually turn in my ones regularly, I don't like to have too many at once because if they're popping out of the top I might start losing dollars, plus customers tend to think it's way more than it really is. Sometimes I'll be turning in a stack of like $40 in ones and some customer will be like "WOAH!!! Look at all that money!". I guess they've never worked in a job that involved tips/ones and don't know what a lot looks like.

Also I like carrying a purse so I can carry other things like breath mints and my cell phone, but also things that I don't want to get stolen like car keys and my ID. I know one girl who's car got stolen because someone found her keys in her jacket pocket in the dressing room and just drove her car away! I don't fully trust lockers either, so if it can't really be replaced I try to carry it with me.

it depends on the dressing room environment. if it's a big busy dressing room w/ no cameras i wouldn't trust my lock. My dressing room is small..rarely ccrowded and has 4 cameras in it...one pointing directly at the lockers. so i feel safe keeping my money in it. but we have a very honest group of dancers here...most leave their money on their counter or makeup bag...they think i'm uptight for even using a lock!

My dressing room is so small (3 girls!) that we all regularly leave singles lying around (nothing much bigger)... we all know each other for the most part. I generally disperse my money -- some in my makeup bag, some in my purse, some in my duffel, etc. if anyone rummaged around enough, they wouldn't get away with very much money. Since I wear kneepads, I can store a lot of money in there too.
I try to change my money as often as possible -- it gives me a reason to go to the bar. it gives me a chance to show off my money (I do think that guys are attracted to the popular girls). And people really notice when the bartender says things like "Thank you so much! I can barely keep up with all of these guys, everyone wants to tip you ladies tonight!" That's a definite morale-booster for everyone.
