I think this is another case of everyone wants to look like something else (or at least it started that way). I'm not wholesome enough to look "girl next door," my cheekbones and face are too narrow to look "exotic," I'm too pale to be "beach bunny" and too tall to be "cute." It goes on and on. I agree that there are enough artificial means of "creating" or playing up a look that most of us can look like just about anything we want. (Although I'm not getting any shorter...)

Another "exotic" white girl: Liv Tyler.

HELLA OLD THREAD WHAAAT

But yes white women can look exotic. To ethnic men! :D

Or... beuatiful, unusual features can look exotic. Example! Scarlett Johanssen. IMO she's a bit different looking. Jessica Simpson = no.

They're both blondes however.

Good call on Scarlett, she is mega hot.

It's got to be something about the rounder face. Hmmmm!

I describe exotic as unexpectedly beautiful. Like a person whose face "breaks the rules" of what beauty is defined by and surprises everybody with a new look that is beautiful.

So for me, the puffed up lips of Angelina don't feel exotic anymore. You see them everywhere (along with all the cosmetic surgery ads for them).

When I think of exotic, I think of strong rather than submissive.

Eva Green is exotic with her unusual eye shape, long nose, and freckles.

I don't think of Jennifer Garner as exotic, but I do think she is A-dooorable. But the different shots of her kind of show how you can transform yourself from girl next door to exotic. I agree with KrisMadison -- work with what you've got and love what you've got to work with.

Vivacious, that is genius!! It's just so simple: even a blonde can be exotic in a room full of brunettes. Having a different look makes someone exotic-looking... :worship:

Exactly.

Although I would never be considered 'exotic' here, when I spent time in Asia, as the only fair skinned, blonde amongst many, many brunettes, I was constantly being asked about my hair and skin.

Imo, 'exotic' is something a bit unusual and different from the norm.

Sorry babes but White women are not exotic. They are the majority so that in itself would be a contradiction. What makes a woman exotic is that she has a look that is not in the mojority, hence the term exotic. Maybe she comes from a far off land or has roots in many

White is white and not exotic. Exotic is something that makes you wonder and think a few times about. Something or someone that you see often would not make you wonder nor think twice about. So, in my opinion, there is no hair or makeup that will make someone look exotic. Either you are or you're not! Just go with your own natural beauty. Most people dont like "frauds" anyway. ie. fake blondes, fake "exotics", stupid way dark tans, yada yada. Be you at your best.

Exotic means foreign, stunning, unssual, interesting and YES a white woman can be all those things..

Are Canadians not foreign to Americans??
Does Stunning only come with darker pigments??

Infact here in Miami being purely white would be considered Exotic as we are the melting pot and largerly Hispanic.

Forget it I get told I'm Exotic everyday mainly because I'm Russian Polish Cuban and you bet I'm White unless I go tanning.

Still even when I tan like a Hispanic my facail features are read as Foreign as in from anywhere else as 1/2 the time they agrue with me saying I couldn't have been born here (Miami and a Hispanic) I most be from Europe or Ireland or somewhere else till I tell them I'm also Russian and Polish and still sometimes they don't believe my family comes from there because my features are soo mixed my style or accent confuses the hell out of them.

Anyhow I consider many things Exotic like light eyes on a girl with darkskin or a Mohawk on a Barbie, Tattoo's on feet with prefectly pedicured toes, a Glam Diva in a Man's Suit, things that cross the expected norm that contrast is such a way it's totally Sexy that's Exotic to me.

I get 'accused' of being Mediterranean all the time and I am as English (and white) as they come. I have got almond shaped eyes, long black hair and I am tanned. My family are as English as they could be and my hair is dyed black (should be a dirty blonde). I am a little wide around the hips with a small waist. I don't know if these are the reasons people think I am 'exotic', but even people from Greece and Spain have been fooled and where I live in England I could probably be classed as exotic.

here are some exotic looking models in full makeup on MAC's site

http://www.maccosmetics.com/?AD_ID=74804&cm_mmc=Range-_-Search-_-Feeds-_-Home%20Page

when I have time, and feel like doing my makeup a new exciting and exotic way, I often use MAC's site. You just click "Collections" and they show you different looks, then click "View The Look" and it will give you the step by step for application. Of course it does list all MAC products, but you can substitute any brand in a similar shade obviously.

click for a few examples from the "N Collection"

I'm told that I look "exotic" all the time. In reality, I'm just a European "mutt" (Irish, Italian, Spanish, English and Scottish).

I think what makes people think I look "exotic" is that I have very long, very dark hair (just past my butt) and the shape of my eyes, which I accentuate by lining only the top in a classic "cat eye" fashion. I'm white like snow white without a tan, but when I do tan I'm very dark. I seem to get more "where are you from?" / "what is your background?" questions when I'm really tan.

As someone said before, I think what makes people look "exotic" is anything that looks different from what they see every day. For me, it's mostly the length of my hair.
