I generally eat my fruits, veggies, and nuts raw. But I think it's best to cook meat before eating it. The stuff at the supermarket isn't exactly fresh from the kill.

I guess the main thing is about being a raw fooder is to avoid all animal products. I have heard of some who eat raw fish on occasion and raw dairy (unpasterised milk etc).

Sushi, steak tartar, etc.

All meat is perfectly good raw if the animal it came from wasn't diseased, and if it's freshly killed. Supermarket meat, however, is generally at least a week old, and can therefore have salmonella or other poisening.

(Wolves and foxes eat all their meat raw, and their digestive systems are remarkably similar to ours.)

I did not know that, thought you would get sick eating raw meat, not raw fish but meat, dont you have to kill the bacteria?

Ryan's point being made here........
you would'nt put your cat in a microwave.......so why put food that goes into your body in there?
That is all he ment.......

Yes, the meat you buy in the supermarket may be infected with bacteria since the animal has been dead for a while. That wouldn't be a concern with meat that is freshly killed (unless the animal was diseased).

Ryan mentions that "horses, cows, elephants, etc etc" subsist solely on raw foods and do so in a quite healthy manner. While it paints a pretty picture, one has to wonder at the "nutritionists" who use as examples animals with digestive systems far different than the actual humans they wish to evangelize. I would like to take a moment to state that anyone who claims that a ruminant has the right idea and that all single-stomached creatures should follow their lead is perhaps a few carrots short of a smoothie.

Horses and cattle will also eat placentas after giving birth. But it is raw, so perhaps we should follow suit.

And as to claims that this is The Only Healthy Way, I would like to see an actual AMA endorsed long term study. We've seen that Ryan knows how to copy and paste from unverified sites, but let's see some reputable facts. Just for kicks and giggles.

I would not put my cat in a microwave. But I would not eat my cat either.

The BARF diet is soooo much better for your pets health...the prepackaged stuff is a huge really expensive, but totally worth it. Look up www.naturesvariety.com. I worked at a pet supply store b4 I got into stripping.

Raw food diet is healthiest eh? I suppose that's why there's a couple on trial for the death of one of their kids who was forced to do the whole raw food thing.

I'm not saying raw food isn't healthy, just that any diet that depends on extremes isn't the end all be all ...

Whoa, whoa, whoa!
That is not from a raw food diet. A 6 month old baby was fed exclusively wheat grass, coconut water and almond milk for three months. And the baby apparently had several congenital diseases. Parents who wanted a raw food diet would typically still be breastfeeding at 6 months (or utililzing a breast pump), and would have continued until the baby was able to eat a diet entirely of solid food. The parents were also physically abusive. This did not happen because raw food is bad for you.

Yep...my puppy eats his own raw poo....mmmmmm...nope! Ain't going to eat it ::)

I'm just kidding. I don't personally care for Ryans "attitude" but that's not the point. I like reading new information like this. It strikes up new and creative thoughts in my mind about how our bodies work. Like everything we need to take it and weigh the Pros and Cons for ourselves. If we will try it and like it or if our bodies are telling us Hell No! I need a rare steak!!!!

I have to have my meat...... but at the same time I don't get nearly enough fresh veggies or fruit and eat way to much processed and mircowaveable foods.
sooooo.......personally for me.........I don't think I will ever turn completely raw....however the idea peaks my curiousity enough for me to want to research the subject further myself and my hope is that it will entice me enough to at least eat more of the veggie and fruits that i know i need.........raw diet philosophy or not.

You missed my point, my bad.

Any diet taken to an extreme is bad news. There is no one right way to eat. There are too many ethnic/genetic differences amoung people for there to be one specific diet that is best for everyone.

Something else to think about, just because we ate one way in our history as humans doesn't mean it is still the best thing for us. We've evolved greatly over the years as a species and what was best digestively/nutritionally 1,000 years ago isn't what's necessarily best now.

I dunno maybe i'm not making sense. I just always cringe whenever I see someone telling people one type of diet is best.

"Do you not eat any bread, rice, pasta, or meat? How does it all work? Certainly most veggies taste better raw, I agree 100%. What about corn??
Very curious....

Hey raw sweet corn is really yummy! My 10 year old daughter eats it that way straight off the cob ( I didnt tell her to!). When you bite into it its full of juice, crunchy and sweet. I slough it off the cob and throw the kernels in my salad sometimes.

Ive been reading books about raw foods since I was quite young. My diet is based on mainly raw fruits and vegies, some nuts and seeds. But I love deserts too much to be 100%. I eat some bad stuff every day, I look forward to it as a treat! I think most of us would feel mentally deprived and a bit depressed constantly trying to NOT eat some 'junk' foods. I also eat cooked liver(I know barfff!!). I have a pretty serious weights/cardio routine and the iron and b vitamins seem to really help. I think some meat, chicken, fish, eggs is a natural thing for a human to eat.

From what Ive tried to find about dairy, its not good for our system. Cows milk is for a baby cow only. I feel strongly that babies should be breast fed human milk! But we live in a society where it can be hard when women have to work etc and have to use formulas. I feel soo much better when I avoid dairy. But I wont avoid it completely cos I LOVE icecream and chocolate and cheesecake etc!!

A few times when I did 100% raw for a while my complexion sure did get really great though.

I like to read about everyones opinions/experiences. :)

Hi Ryan, It's good to see there's other people on here into raw food.

I've just joined, and put in my introduction.

I want to be a stripper, so just checking things out.

I'm 26 and I've been eating high raw for 7 years now,

just after my daughter was born.

I tried to look for your pic. Couldn't find it.

Are you a stripper?

Anyway do you know many other strippers who eat raw?

I know it's hard to begin with for others, but it's so normal for me now.I did a arw

food cafe out in Goa for one season, and I met a stripper from London who eats raw.

Do you know of any others?

Anyway, be nice to hear from you,

and check out my website.

Thanks, take care, Lisa.

Ya know, microwaves are insanely safer than they used to be (whoever the dunce is that warmed blood in the microwave should be shot tho) but personally, only raw foods should be allowed to grow in the sun........the sun isn't all good........my grandpa moved to Arizona to hve more sun (he loved it) but he died at the hands he loved.......he died of melanoma
