Okay, so I know I am not the only one who is running out of sites where u can find free music to download. It is so much easier when u just wanna download one song to go on the web instead of hunting around to find a friend who has the cd and then saving the track to ur computer. Well, free sites seem to be fewer and further in between these days so..........does anyone know of a good free site or of a reasonably priced one that charges a flat fee for all access and not one of those that charges u by the track? Thanks all.

Win MX - I actually got the lead about this right here in this section of SW sometime ago! And have never looked back since. My repertoire of songs has become SO good as a result. Kazaa is the other I believe, but I have not had need to try it yet.
Good luck!

KaZaa has more stuff available (I downloaded the app, but uninstalled it because it was too slow and was wreaking havoc on my computer), BUT it has a bunch of spyware attached that I'm STILL finding pieces of. GRR!!
>:(

I recommend WinMX (spyware free), even though there's not as much music. If you're searching for an old song or an obscure artist, you may not be able to find it.

Though I, myself, would never be caught pirating music; try Blubster.

dr_catfish, I beg your indulgence, but I have Kazaa and my computer goes haywire frequently.

Can you explain why this is, and also what is so bad about spyware? Is the CIA and the FBI keeping track of my sedition on Stripperweb and what naughty sites I am visiting? Because otherwise, I could give a f**k if the people at Walmart know, I'll never work there...

Well, I'm pro-sharing but am also pro-buying so here goes:

I use iMesh (www.imesh.com). The good: I have found 95% of the songs and videos I've searched for and the downloads are FAST. So far, I haven't come across any spyware or anything like that. If you're interested (and brave enough) there are games, movies, etc.. you can download, but that's out of my league!! Oh yeah, it's free too ;D

The bad: Popups. I HATE POPUPS. They come up like every 15 minutes. People also tend to name like their porno videos popular song names. Best to preview the file before it completes.

Kazaa Lite (no bundled crap that slows down your computer) free

Lavasoft's Ad-Aware (remove the crap if you already have it and speed up your computer) free

I use bearshare lite and winmx, lavasoft is the bomb and I recommend it to anyone who spend's a lot of time surfing, adware and spyware do slow you down.

I have used amazon.com as a great source for other music by artist's that you find a song for and want more of there stuff. They list cd's and song title's for all the cd's and best of all.... soon to be released material that you can, if your lucky find in download site's b4 they are available for sale, making you the first dancer/ club to possess it ;) .

But where can I just listen before I download.
Someone recommends a great song to dance to and I have to do the whole download routine just to find out that it would not work with my style of dancing.

I want to listen and then if i like i will go to wnmx and do the download.

Any help here????

The Radio ..... you have to download at least a portion of the song to hear it. Although you can listen to it while it's downloading. After say 20% of the song is downloaded, left click on the download and it gives you an option to play, it will fire up your audio emulator ( mine is winamp ) . if you like it keep it going if not left click on it again and click on " delete file " and it's gone.

A good site I use is . They have LOADS of new music, even full albums, often before release date, and if you have trouble getting the stuff directly from their site, they have instructions for joining their IRC for quick file-swapping. It's my all-time fav site. Been on it over a year.

My personal favorite for music is WinMX. Its one of the few out there where you can get quality music of 160 bps or higher.
