Happy "8 years, 4 months, and 6 days since the release of Kelis' Milkshake Day!"
So, what are everyone's plans for this monumentous day of reflection, rememberance, and worship?

With the dawn of a fresh, new year, with the sound of milkshakes long forgotten from our ears, with economic woes weighing heavily on our hearts, and with a new generation of young women who have not yet been given the chance, nay, the privilege to jostle to and fro to Kelis' words with that which their mothers did give them, I hereby proclaim 2012 the year of the return of My Milkshake Brings All The Boys To The Yard!

I really like the beat of this song but being more of a rocker chick I find this version so much more fun to dance to.

So I was at a party last night and guess what song I heard? That's right. The one and only masterpiece by Kelis. Now, perhaps it was the creativity brought on by alcohol, or hearing the lyrics after time had passed, allowing for a "fresh listen," but something dawned on me. I'm about to go into crazy conspiracy theory territory for a moment here, but what it, I mean what if, there is a metaphor to this song and it's not just about milkshakes (mind=blown)!? I think that the "milkshake" referenced in the song is actually not a cool dairy treat, but could refer to Kelis' sexuality. Likewise, her "yard" is not the front lawn where she sells milkshakes to local townspeople, neighbors, and so on, but is actually meant to imply access to her, sexually. I could be crazy, but give it another listen and tell me that there is not some Matrix-level double meaning going on in this layered and nuanced auditory experience.
