A balanced view on both sides (ha ha) and why I feel like I am up to my neck in liquid bullshit and someone just thew a bucket of snot at me..
I just don't know whether to duck or not because no matter what I do, the outcome is bad... I apologize for the graphic, but I am a farm boy.
I think both of these candidates would end up in level 9 in hell, but one of them will lead our country.
I don't understand why we as people have this need to nominate our candidate for saint hood and demonize the other one. They are both human and have made many good decisions and bad decisions.
Both of them are driven to be number 1 and if they get 51% of the vote, they feel validated in everything they do and the other 49% don't really matter.
For me, it is asking the following questions.
Given a particular situation, did he make a decision /policy I support?
Did the decision/ policy turn out well?
Did he actually take input from a variety of people?
How often does he make decisions I support?
How likely is he to keep his ideals / promises instead of compromising them?
And most important, can I take away the rose colored glasses and acknowledge the flaws in my candidate and really understand what is driving him versus using my energy to damm the other one..
George Bush and John Kerry are far from perfect but one of them will be it. It is not a beauty contest even though they try to make it into one.
The presidential race is all about CHARACTER. Nothing more. And if you boil all the arguments down to the essence, they say one thing, "X has better character than Y." Just remember that when they point 1 finger at the other guy, the other 4 are pointing right back at themself. (Try it).
Their whole objective is to make you look at the other guy and get angry at him. Why, because then you won't be looking at them. How does a magician does his magic? By misdirection and distraction. The oldest game in the book.( Well, second oldest.)
I used to be a die hard republican, but now I have serious decisons to make. It's a long way to November. :-\
