Call me a self absorbed narcissistic little bitch buuuuuut ::) I've never met another Tempest in Texas, Florida, New Orleans, Califas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas, New Mexico, North Dakota, PA, and the list goes on.

We had a "Temptress" at KO's. My response. "Bitch, you better change your fucking name cause I am not gonna deal with the confusion that these 2 names are going to cause" ::) She didn't last a day.

Tempest is definitely a ballsy choice for a stage name--I respect that. I think the trend these days is moving away from the more obviously made-up names.

natasha, natalie, Nicolette, i'm big into N-names lately

also, i love Sophie and Lydia, although when I temporarily switched clubs they already had ALL of those, plus Molly (my current) and so i went with Caroline.

it's growing on me

Had a quick question to ask some of you other ladies :) I danced on stage and did pp's for over 5 yrs prior when I was a little younger I used the stage name candy apple but now I moved to a whole new area got out of it for a few yrs and am getting back into it I'm in a very northern area and I'm from the deep south. I'm using the name Dixie Skye right now to start out what does anyone think about it? I'm not a little toothpick like I was either before I'm 5'3" about 145 but I'm solid I can send pics for constructive critism upon request I think I needed to adapt my stage name to the area which being southern is a rare thing so I thought dixie could come into play. Too much? ok? Just trying to get some opinions on this one :) Thanx in advance

I love the name "Dixie Skye" especially since you're playing up being Southern.

I just started dancing a couple months ago and actually used a similar rational in picking my stage name. Currently, I live in CO but I'm from NYC and Italian so I picked a reallllllllyyy traditional Italian name and play up my east coast accent so I stand out.

This thread will never die... :)

Anyway, I have three names that I've been debating over:

-Calypso (she was a siren who seduced Homer in The Odyssey)

-Anastasia (my mother wanted to name me this so bad, but no one else would let her)

-Ariat (pronounced air-ee-ought. it is a popular, well-made brand of riding apparel and since I love to ride horses I think it would be appropriate. also, horse-back riding is very common in my area)

Any thoughts?

Other names that aren't for me but some of you may consider are Athena, Layla, Virginia, Tantra, Chevelle, Aurora, Agave (uh-ga-vay, plant producing a sweet nectar for an alternative to sugar), Vivian, and Preya. Just some I came up with :P

Ariat would probably get confused with "Harriet" which would just make me think of Harriet the spy.

Agave would make me piss myself laughing.

The juice from many species of agave can cause acute contact dermatitis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dermatitis). It will produce reddening and blistering lasting one to two weeks. Episodes of itching may recur up to a year thereafter, even though there is no longer a visible rash. Irritation is, in part, caused by calcium oxalate (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calcium_oxalate) raphides (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raphides). Dried parts of the plants can be handled with bare hands with little or no effect. If the skin is pierced deeply enough by the needle-like ends of the leaf from a vigorously growing plant, this can also cause blood vessels in the surrounding area to erupt and an area some 6–7 cm across appear to be bruised. This may last up to two to three weeks.

you really want to use a stage name after this plant?

Yea, not trying to be a Harriet.

I'm pretty sure people who are familiar with agave either know it for the sweetener or for the tequila. Most people aren't going to do a wikipedia search to find out everything else they don't know about the plant. With that said, I wouldn't take the chance.

I just use my regular old name now. But I think the favorite stage name I ever danced under was James. I was probably the most well known under Harley, though. Some people still slip up & call me Harley every once in awhile. I was also Shane, Billie, & Bobbie at different points. I've always had a thing for girls w/ boys names.

I've been asked for my real name. "OK -it's Linda. No- c'mon, sweetie. OK it's Candy. Actually it's Candice Caine." I like and have used Kyla & Desiree, too.

Oh man, I am so glad I am not alone on this one. I've tried to change my stage name to Fred so many times, lol. Boy stage names are awesome!

I really like:

Savanna
Tyler
Destiny
Alexandria
Shyler

my name *is* tyler, and i have a horrible time remembering a stage name. i tried just going by my real name, but it got so annoying answering "what's your real name?" that i finally changed it to tiger. now at least i don't forget to come to stage because they called something i don't usually come to and/or accidentally use the wrong name when talking to people and it's still basically the same name :)

My name's Coco :) because I look seriously exactly like her! I used to be 'Kelli' but it was way too boring for my ultra blonde fake stripper look. I think your name has to suit your sales image.

Except since I'm in Australia no-one knows who Coco Austin is :(

06-12-2011, 05:56 AM
I like anything that starts with the letter "j" that resembles my actual name.

Names like Joey, Jane, Joni, Jackie, Jay, Jenny, or Jade are the ones that I use. My stripper persona is none other than myself (I do not have an alter ego or something like that), so I try to come off as authentic as possible.

when i first started i used my real name, heather, for like a week. then i changed to fionna, which im reusing currently. i wanted a theme song with my name in it ('scotty doesnt know' from eurotrip). i still get the random guys scream out fioonnnnaaa, or chant scotty doesnt know like in the movie lol. when i took my first break from dancing i changed to valerie until i quit. if i quit again and return ill prolly go back to valerie. names i havent used but have heard intc: belladonna, deven, alanis, carolina, athena, roxy, vivian, kori, corrine, alethea

I love TROUBLE. I think that is great! I like the fun/different names though.

I found going by a name for so long it kind of became a part of me. I think it would be hard to be a different name.

Stage name: Savannah & Amber

I'm just a regular, cute girl next door. Not stick thin... I used the name Annabelle when I danced for a bit a couple years ago... I was going for Innocent LOL.

Now I'm trying to pick a new name.. I had Tasha, since that's close to my real name, Tara. I use that name for my Lingerie Housecleaning. But I saw on the board it said 'th' names are difficult to pronouce..
I like a lot of names that I don't think suit me... boy names~Shayne, Bryan, Kyle.. but I don't think I could pull off a boy name.

Tough time deciding today...

I love my stage name. I started growing a willow tree from a stem cutting when I started dancing, and I'm really tall like a tree so it fits really well. I would show customers pictures of all my baby willow trees when I started, out of nervousness but they thought it was cute and intriguing. lol

My search for a name has been borderline obsessive! I ended up going with Nova on the spur of the moment, because it's short and cute, a little flashy, and easy to understand. Here's a list of my potentials in order:

3. Harlow/Marlowe
4. Harper
5. Peyton
6. Milo
7. Nyx
8. Naomi

20. Amelie
21. Evie
22. McKenna
23. Cavender
24. Indigo
25. Artemis
26. Lyla
27. Evangeline (usually too long but Lina is cute)
28. Margot/Margo/Margaux
29. Jolie
30. Ainsley

I've used the names:
Kitten
Venom
Siren
Bleez
Tezra (Lots of people called me Tezzy, which was cute)
Vincent or Vincetta. (Like St. Vincent the musician. It was a little weird, but surprisingly worked for me though. Not so fun when people thought my name was 'poinsettia', like the plant.)

I have tattoos, piercings, and a half-shaved head which is always a different color, so weird names worked best for me.
