The high heels I can see, but I cannot see why the platform shoes.
Hard to tell a dancer's height on an elevated stage anyway. In my fantasy height means nothing in bed anyway, though I do have a fantasy about eating out a tall, standing, attractive gal.

I say we wear them so we don't have to have them look down on us, look them in the eye!

Random observations: I am looking at my seven inch heels, out of place in the living room, and yeah, they do look strange when not in the club or on stage. In a history book I saw pictures of post- medieval Italian noblewomen's high heel shoes- during the De MiDici period, women wore tall shoes to keep their dress hems out of street mud. Catherine De Midici herself wore high shoes because she was barely over four feet tall and needed to be able to get to eye-level with men.
In China, foot binding occurred because it made women helpless, and also their cramped way of walking tightened their vaginal/PC muscles. The effect of walking on tip-toe in high heels does the same thing to women of today.

High shoes make your posture better... I actually don't slouch. Also it makes you pull your stomach in and makes your legs look longer.
You hit it right on the nose... Height is a big deal too, since we don't want to be itty bitty girls, but tall exotic looking women..
