I girl at my club who just started working again recently was named Pheonix. Spelled just like that. Every time I saw it, I was like, "oh, the DJ or manager made a typo," but no. Someone told me they spelled it "Phoenix" once and she made them change it. And I guess literally last week, she finally noticed she was spelling it wrong. After like two years.

I don't like names that sound like "pastrami"--like, Mianni. I also don't like names that remind me of really foody foods or fishing bait--like Mila reminds me of mealworms. Jasmine reminds me of basmati rice. I know, I'm a pretty unusual person. I used to give pain colors, like, "My stomach hurts like purple." Or I would think that certain people looked like certain things--example, my dad looks like swimming pool water. Sorry for straying off topic.

There's a name for doing that; I watched a documentary about it. It's even been known to run through families.

Mt stage name is summer (obviously!) and another dancer at my club is named Autumn. I can't tell you how many times I introduce myself to a guy and say "hi I'm summer" and he will reply "hi I'm winter"! Uggghh! Autumn gets the same thing too!!! Sometimes I think I should change my name..........

I TOTALLY GET THIS TOO!

I'm "Wintre" and I get the exact same ones, and the worst is...I always giggle like its original. Now that its wintertime, I feel like people find my name less appealing.

I also get, "you feel like summer to me"

Oh yah...I can't stand anything that contains the "baby" It annoys me so much.

We found an odd one among the regular populace in times past in another SW thread. That name was Vulva Mae.

A new girl named Domino. Apparently it's a reference to a movie or something, but so what? It just sounds bad. There was another chick named Chaos because apparently they wouldn't let her go by Psycho. I did like her though, cool chick besides the bad stage name lol.

did anyone mention the dancers that have MEN's names?

Like: kendall. Keenan, Tommy, Jay, Pat, Criss

they are really ambiguous and androgynous names that could be for a guy or a girl. WTF.

AND there this chick where i dance, her name is Marsha.
The dj got on the mic last night and said, "Marsha, marsha, marsha!" after her stage set. LOL, it was funny.

At the risk of offending some die-hard womens' libbers, I am not in favor of women taking on hmen's names on-stage or off-stage. Or the reverse. (Shirley, don't call me Shirley!)

I don't even like pets being given human names. (Should I call my mastiff, Bruce or Otto? Should I call my 'poo Jenny or Milly?)

Let's have some distinction here.

Androgynous names kind of have a tomboy feel that I think is really cute and spunky (maybe this is cause I'm a Dusty, which is androgynous)

I will go ahead and admit that I am a "bad name"offender.

So, my first day on the job I'm a total noob and super idealist, thinking that I'm going to be cool and artistic and I choose the stage name Kitsune.

It means fox in Japanese! Its super sexy right? Get it? Fox-but in Japanese?

yeah....no one did either, and hardly anyone could understand what I was saying over the super loud music. The next day, I changed my name

Sativa! Not necessarily the worst name ever, it actually sounds sort of sultry, but the scientific name for weed is Cannabis sativa, and for me the stoner vibe doesn't strike as sexy, at least not for the club I just started at where there's a girl with that name... Then again, how many people know the scientific name for marijuana?

Cambria - she apparently took the name from Coheed and Cambria, which just screamed "easy/crazy/ho" to me.

Chanel - some how coco chanel and ghetto chick covered in bad jail house tattoos didn't mesh in my head.

And one night I was sick of "Kay" coming over the loudspeaker and being indistinguishable from "Kaylee/kaylin/kiara/candy/etc" so I tried to change my name. the current theme running a the bar was top shelf booze: patrone/tequila/remy/henessy/burbon... but they wouldn't let me change my name to Absinthe. I think it's because the DJ at the time couldn't spell absinthe to save his life.

Lacy always gets on my nerves. The one bar i danced at there was a Lacy on day shift and a Lacy on night shift it boggled my mind.

Juicy.

She wasn't very attractive at all, and dumb as rocks as well, so it was even worse.

Someone posted about 'Cream'. I worked with a dancer named Kream in Daytona who chose it, as I discovered after working with her for a year or so, because 'my pussy is always creamy'. Which made me want to puke, because she was overweight and did nothing onstage but lay there alternating twitchs of her enormous, quivering ass cheeks. Twitch, twitch, twitch, ripple (next cheek) Twitch, twitch, twitch, ripple.

But she was incredibly picky about her music, naturally enough. I found out later she was one of the champion dick-suckers in the club, and was lying to me when she used to say she didn't make much money so couldn't tip me most nights, and was walking with 500$.

Admittedly, this was in the NE, but one of the very short-live house dancers at the first club I worked at had the stage name "Chowder". She insisted it be pronounced "Chowdah".

I wish I was kidding.

PHOENIX - probably like the bird, it rises from the ashes - basicallyimmortal

A phoenix is a mythical bird with a colourful plumage and a tail of gold and scarlet (or purple and blue, according to some sources [1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix_(mythology)#cite_note-0)). It has a 500 to 1,000 year life-cycle, near the end of which it builds itself a nest of myrrh (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myrrh) twigs that then ignites; both nest and bird burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix or phoenix egg arises, reborn anew to live again. The new phoenix is destined to live as long as its old self. In some stories, the new phoenix embalms (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embalming) the ashes of its old self in an egg made of myrrh (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myrrh) and deposits it in the Egyptian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancient_Egypt) city of Heliopolis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heliopolis_(ancient)) (sun city in Greek (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_language)). The bird was also said to regenerate (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regeneration_(biology)) when hurt or wounded by a foe, thus being almost immortal and invincible it is also said that it can heal a person with a tear from its eyes and make them temporarily immune to death. The phoenix is a symbol of fire (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holy_Spirit) and divinity (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Divinity).[2

I know a TOTALLY HOT Phoenix... only problem she has are custys who are hard of hearing and call her peanut, and they can't figure out why would someone call themselves that. She tries to explain, generally to no avail. We laugh, and call her peanut on the outside!

Phoenix is one of the best names ever, I have worked with a couple of splendid firebirds by that name.

But on the wrong woman, it could be so bad a name as to be surreal. I have seen this many times. Though never, thank god, with the name Phoenix.

One of the worst was a 'Tigress', which might not be a bad name at all on someone else, even if a bit of overkill. If you're going to call yourself Tigress, you better be capable of living up to the name in some way or another. But this Tigress had severe BO, was very dumpy-like a dumpling, wore her hair in a babushka style (she wasn't Russian though), and worst of all (to me) was utterly devoid of any grace or style. Well OK the smell was worse.

There was a girl that came on here one time and was looking for a stripper name for herself, and asked the board if everyone thought that "Treblinka" was a good name.

Treblinka. As in the Nazi death camp.

IIRC, I don't think she knew what it was.
