Maybe it's already been done. Don't know. :)

Anyway, I'm voting for:

Erotica

To me she sounds like a villian Flash Gordon or Buck Rodgers would have to do battle with. ;D

Although Stan Lee used it as the stage name for the alter ego of his Stripperella character. :-\ Nope, still bad. :)

i'd have to say any name that reminds you of a disease or some type of medical condition (or is a disease).. we all know some stupid girl out there is going to call herself angina (which is a heart condition) or clymedia (an sti)! lol :D

"Mocha", or "Chocolate".

I was righteously pissed off at a dancer called "Isis", who changed her name to Chocolate. Since she was my friend, and she tipped me well (after I learned to stop being the naive new DJ), I didn't argue too much.

But Isis is an infinitely superior name, and not just because I am an Egyptophile.

MONET!!!

i HATE when girls call themselves Monet and they are too stupid to know why thats an insult.

you know, because a Monet looks good from far away - but once you get a closer look.... :-\

I hate the Mochas and Chocolates too. I once knew a dancer that called herself "white chocolate"...wtf is that? There is a girl calling herself "Piracy" which I think is absurd. Not too fond of the names Secret, or Memory, both girls that I work with.

06-12-2004, 03:35 AM
Personally, I would like to hear some good old fashioned names coming out on the stage...

"AAAAND NOOOOOOW....OOOOON THE CENTERRRRRR STAAAAAAAAGE.... COME ON GUYS...GIVE IT UP FOR ... MARGAREEEEET"

Worst I ever heard was "Strawberry Milk." The girl was really cool, however. Her name just made me wonder, "huh?"

Be aware of words that rhyme with the name chosen.
There is a dancer at the SC where I go named "Starling" (Silence of the Lambs reference). On a PA system with a accented DJ it sounds like Stalin.

I have many. The one that really bothers me the most is Bambi. I think just about every state has a Bambi. Worse yet....i danced with a Bambi in the same club, she got pregnant and named the child Fawn....YUK.

Anything that sounds porno, belongs in porno i think. But again Pamela, or Pamela Pauline is boring!

I agree with the liquid name statements- yuck.. not sure what people are thinking.

Personally names like Desire, Fantasy,Secret, Delight, Memory,Illusion,Firestorm, and others like the such always make me wonder why they were chosen. I have no issues with the girls who have chosen these names in the past, but after awhile it tends to be a bit cheesey, I think. Those names with color as well, Blue, Amber, Pink, Violet, etc... never been fond of those either..

Then there's the girl I worked with in California, whom I will never forget, as her name was (and yes.. drum roll please)...

Romance.... WTF??? A couple more, Afterglow, redlight, and Dynamite.

(No offense to any member of SW who might happen to have the names I have mentioned... just my personal opinion)

There was a dancer in our club who named herself "Jing Wei". You'd think that a dancer with a Chinese name should be.......well.......CHINESE, right?
Not her.

Other names I have problems with are the names of cars: Porshe, Lexus, Mercedes. We even had a girl named Harley. *Sheesh*

Let's not forget the ever popular Lucille.. You bitch , you slut , you whore!

I laugh at this because my sister used to sing this song like this, " You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille.. with FOUR HUNDRED children and a COP in the field".....

It wasn't until she was older that she realized the real words "FOUR HUNGRY CHILDREN AND A CROP IN THE FIELD"

We had an Allegra (the medicine for allergies)
and a Eugina - those 2 were the worst I heard.
Bambi, Barbie, Miracle, Dream - those pretty much do it for me.
Oh, and the car names too...never been into those all that much either.

Came across a dancer in Illinois named Pop Tart, thought that was odd. Also worked with a Klymax and Suga. To me alot of typical stripper names are so over done, I do like the creative ones. I never came up with a good stage name and have always danced under my real name, Susan. I had to come up with a name for my character in the burlesque company I'm in and I went straight to drag names! I am Ginger Lee-Pokem!

Ok...semi off topic but maybe some of you dancers can tell me why you get hostile at us dj's for spelling your name diffrently than you invision on our rotation sheets. Its not like were handing out programs for the nights performance, as long as we say it right, WTF does it matter if we spell it with an I or a Y...never understood that.

LOL I so agree. I hear dancers complain about that a lot. When someone asks me how my stage name is spelled, I tell them "however you want to spell it is fine with me".
I personally could care less.

Bambi is defiantly the winner. So is precious, miracle, dream or any other one of those names that sound too 'sweet'

Allegra is actually a name derived from musical terminology, meaning 'fast'--as opposed to slow. But the commercial application spoils it as a name, yes.

That is funny about the DJ spelling, and no, it doesn't matter in the least, as long as it is pronounced correctly. I have worked with some total morons, in a field not renowned for literary acumen, and seen some incredibly funny attempts to write names from other DJs when I took over.

What I also find amusing is women of questionable appearance who take on names evocative of excitement and passion.

One of my least favorite dancers of all time insisted on calling herself "Tigress", not really all that bad a name--but she was ugly, overweight, couldn't dance for shit, and worst of all, she STANK. I would put on her song, announce her as briefly as possible, and leap through the adjacent door into the dressing room so I didn't have to see her onstage. This was in a club that hired literally any woman that walked in the door.

haha most of the names you guys picked I really like!

2 of the worst names I've had the pleasure to work with are:

MISERY (yes she looked miserable)

and

NATSU

now I'm sure Natsu means something lovely in Japanese but on the microphone it sounded like Natzi. Plus I couldn't stand the ugly nasty skank. I never understood why she chose a Japanese name when she wasn't even Japanese nor did she look Japanese. She was straight up white.

Isn't that allegro? Which, yes, is Italian for a brisk tempo.

Long before the medicine, I used to dance under Allegra and I also used Geneeva- both of these worked well for me... however, Gynger was always the perfect fit, but when going to other clubs where another Ginger was present, I used Geneeva.. Allegra I used the first year I danced way back when I was 17...

Right you are! I was remembering (incorrectly) the movie Allegro non Tropo, an old movie, kind of a satire of Fantasia. Thanks for straightening that out.

I don't like names that sound like "pastrami"--like, Mianni. I also don't like names that remind me of really foody foods or fishing bait--like Mila reminds me of mealworms. Jasmine reminds me of basmati rice. I know, I'm a pretty unusual person. I used to give pain colors, like, "My stomach hurts like purple." Or I would think that certain people looked like certain things--example, my dad looks like swimming pool water. Sorry for straying off topic.

I used to go to school with a girl who was named Precious. I thought that was so stupid.

So far my most hated stripper name is Money. Well, it may be the girl as well as the name, but calling yourself Money just seems so crass. It does fit her though.

The worst name I've ever come across when I was dancing was a girl that called herself "Snow". Of course, the name fit her well, because she was a major cokehead, but still.

Another good one is Thumper. Ugh. I worked with one of those too. She was about 45 years old.. and she looked it. I guess no one ever gave her the advice not to put a tattoo any place that gravity will get ya. She had one on her arse (and her arse was heading South, fast!) LOL.

Lmao! I've had several dancers thru the years complain because I spell their name "wrong". My answer is always the same, "Do you hear it pronounced right when I call you to the stage? Then leave MY setlist alone, because ya have no right lookin at who is on my copy of the schedule or who has tipped out already...."
The worst name I can think of right now is hard candy(no offence to the SW member with the name). Then there was the black as pitch sweetheart who wanted to call herself sunshine(thank god she had a wicked sense of humour,as I blurted out without thinkin ....damn ya cant call yourself sunshine, try eclipse..so she quickly lauhed and called herself eclipse)

A lot of bad names out there... Personally, I prefer "normal" woman's names. Anyway, I believe I have witnessed the worst stripper name in the history of modern civilization....

"Felony"

Yes, she was actually dancing using the name Felony (although I am unsure of how she spelled it). I defy anyone to top that one!

Wanna talk about worst stage names? Right now I've been dubbed Jewel (not my choice) The manager chose it for me. Got any good ideas? I'm a semi redhead, 5'6 1/2 a litte chunky but i have a fun bubbly personality..i'm not one of the sultry ones..i'm actually a bit of a dork...so any good names would be greatly appreciated
I'd post a pic but it's not working at the moment...I'll be posting some in the Gallery soon i hope ;D

I think i like hearing "real" names for a change. ALOT of the names mentioned here i have either worked with or talked too out of clubs!

I changed my hair once to very dark brown and changed my name to Rio.....What was i thinking! Exotic? Not me. I always used my real name Pamela, guys don't believe me anyway!!!

I work with a girl named Blue Jay. That really bugs me. What kind of a name is Blue Jay? I've also always hated Vanilla as a stage name.
