Bridgette, What club have you decided to freelance at in Prov?

Bridgette
06-19-2004, 07:40 PM
Going to Fantasies. I like being able to wear what I want and apparently it's busiest now.

Yeah Sandy, that story might have to wait....

Ok, I'm confused. I called Fantasies and asked if they let girls freelance, and he said only if you stay a long time. I don't think the guy knew what that meant. So called the next day and talked to a woman named Joan, she said she was in charge of the dancers, so i explained that i live in florida and would like to come up there and work one week a month. She said they don't allow girls to do that. You have to be on the schedule, and when you want vacation time you need to ask permission.
Bridgette, since you've already got your plane tix and have decided on Fantasies, I'm assuming you called the club to ask details. Who did you talk to? Did they tell you they let girls freelance? Or are you just going to get hired, work a few weeks and then quit? I don't know if there's just a misunderstanding, although i think i'm making myself pretty clear when i talk to them, or maybe i'm not talking to the right person. I don't know. Hopefully you, or any other dancer that's called Fantasies can clear this up for me.
Thanks, April

if they wont hire you for short term, dont tell them you're only gonna work short term. just go audition, work, and quit when you're leaving the state. that simple.

nopink, theres more than one uni named after a color? and why isn't brown number 1? maybe im just suffereing from sunstroke, but i can't think of another.

06-23-2004, 06:23 PM
yea joan at fantasies is strict as hell and sometimes doesnt come off as the nicest person when you first meet her.

go down, get hired find a fake address and number, and quit.. its that simple.. they will never know.

Hey tampafldancer, that's funny what you said about Joan, yeah she seemed kinda rude on the phone. I know i can just go up there and get hired, work for a week, and then leave, but i'm looking for a club that i can continously fly up to and work at. I'm a full-time student at FSU, and don't want anyone i go to school with to know i dance. Just don't want to deal with the bullshit that goes along with telling immature college guys I'm a stripper. I only dance four days a month usually, or when i have x-mas break, and spring break. I used to fly to Saphire's in Vegas during winter months and loved it, but can't do that now that their making dancers get business liscenses as of July 1st, there's no way i'm getting one of those.
I was thinking of going to Miami, although i'm not familar with that area at all, like i am with providence and that kinda scares me. Have you ever danced in Miami? A girl i worked with said that she did really well at Tootsie's, do you know anything about that club? Well i guess i'm getting off the providence topic, sorry but you sound like you know a lot about different clubs. If you could suggest a club in fla. or anywhere i could freelance at that would be great!
Thanks, April

question are the girls pictured here (http://www.clubfantasies.com/meet_our_girls.html) typical of the dancers at club fantasies?

sander8son
06-24-2004, 09:51 AM
theres a good 250 or so girls that work there. maybe more. so the 10 they have on the website isn't exactly descriptive. they only pay like $40 for the website pics. so, it can lead to only the girls that are hardup for cash to get pics done. there are better looking and there are worse looking there. just realilze theres a lot of girls there and thats only a small sample.

bostondancer
06-24-2004, 10:05 AM
Those girls do work there and have so for qiute some time . I worked there over a year go and they where there . I think that they repesent the girls that work there very well . They have alot of brazilian dancers too . They have a mix and everyone keeps to themselves . I do think that those girls on the web-site give you a good idea of what to expect from looks to clothing and those where pictures of the club the private dance areas . I think you girls will be pleased . As far as Joan goes I wouldn't piss her off to bad she is charge of al the girls . I alos wouldn't worry about it to much since they hve so many girls as long as you cause truoble when you leave why wouldn't they hire back right ? And just in case any of you ar ethinking about doing any kind of drugs there they have 0 tolarence for it . Seriously you be gone and they will find out you would have a hard time hiding it there . I know none of girls do that though right ?!!! Good luck

Bridgette

When I called I didn't ask about freelance, just asked about audition. They said auditions are Mon-Fri 12noon-4pm. I don't plan to tell them I'm not staying. Always when I travel I come up with a local address to put down and imply I've just moved to town. That way there's no BS about not hiring out of town girls. I'm gonna be there 2 full weeks and plan to work a full schedule while there. I'll post what I find out about out of towners. Before I leave town, depending on what I find out, I'll probably talk to them and ask if I can come back in a few weeks or something.

thanks bostondancer...i've actually been thinking of moving to providence (before i knew about their clubs), at least for the summer. fantasies just seems like a really awesome club...a lot like the one i'm at now, but much bigger and with more earnings possibility.

i just wanted to know what kind of chance i had (look-wise) of getting hired/making money. i'm no 10, but i do get my share of compliments.

maybe i could fly up, audition...if i get hired, find an apartment, then move up with my stuff and start working. it does take a week before you can work anyways, right?

Tina

I have danced in 20 states and been in clubs in probably another 10 and in my experience everywhere i have gone where i was told the money and business was good never really was dramatically better than where I was and in some cases worse.

Too many girls is a big problem.

When I travel to an area where i don't have an advance booking, I do like Bridgette says and use an address I pull out of the phone book or from an apartment complex and use my cell phone # as home and tell them I don't have a home phone # yet or if I am staying at an extended stay suite use that as my home phone # an address.

I don't go anywhere expecting to make $500-$1000 a night after payout, if hired work 5 nights a week, and will stay in an area for at least 4-5 weeks and try to find an extended stay suite that is reasonable so that I have a full sized refrigerator and stove or 2 burner stove top and have transportation. That way I am working enough days and weeks to live on and cover my expenses back home since it is very probable that I will have some under $100 nights working in a place with lots of dancers and an uncertain amount of customers.

Too many dancers go to a place, get discouraged and throw in the towel and go home right away losing money instead of working it full time knowing that costs will always be more than they plan for and income will be less than they expect.

I have found that I I stay at a place long enough, especially if I have researched it or checked it out before working there I won't lose money.

Let us know how things are there.

i think cadillac lounge may be open to letting SOME girls freelance.. if its regular. There was a girl named tina that worked there from maine that would only be there some days in the summer i think.

They know me there (i hope they still do at least) so i want to go back, its still one of my favorite clubs aside from fantasies.

WOW, THIS IS NOT TYPICAL OF THE DANCERS HERE, NO. They are much better looking.. at least a couple of months ago they were.
Generally women who are trying to keep some kind of secrecy, don't post pics on the site.

LOL You know, I've always wondered that. Then it was discussed in chat one night. Apparently, they offer the girls the opportunity to be on the site, but only pay them $40 to do it. So, this doesn't bring in the most attractive ones there. But, I think that they should at least raise the price a bit and put some actually good-looking ones on the site, since they're advertising.

Ok ladies here's the deal. There WERE definitely alot of squishy butts as Melonie so eloquently stated. I worked Tuesday night and there were 42 girls and probably the same number of guys, or less, at any point in the night. BAD. After payouts I left with $40. BAD. Didn't work tonight. Everybody said Tue-Wed nights SUCK ASS, so I'll see what happens for Thursday and Friday nights. If they are as BAD as Tuesday was, I'm going to Philly to work with my friend. So far it's BAD. From what people say, weekends are slammin, but the weekdays are BAD.

NinaDaisy

How am I gonna top the last post...

Ok, it was REALLY BAD! Bridgette was the rich bitch in our crew for the evening. I made a whopping $3. No, there's no typo. Not $300, or even $30, but $3. T-H-R-E-E. After, fees of course. Including the bullshit $10 weekly "scheduling fee". What else will they think of to take our money with next?

But yeah, it's BAD. Me and Bridgette danced nekkid in the upstairs and there were pubes brushing up against the guys faces sitting on the meat rack. Bridgette doesn't have pubes, so couldn't brush hers against the guys even if she wanted to compete with all that.

I am sincerely hoping it's not so BAD this weekend, otherwise this club will succeed in actually making me glad to go back to my Deja Vu club. And Bridgette adds that she'll also be appreciating her $10 a dance club.

We marvelled at the squishy butts, they did indeed abound. Melonie failed to mention the straight outta Jersey circa 1986 'dos. It is supposed to be packed to the rafters this weekend, but otherwise this is a choice club for guys that like squishy butts, BAD hair, and mileage for a buck.

Run away while you still can because it's BAD.

P.S.-If anyone out there was thinking of just working weekends over the summer to avoid the BAD nights, they make you work either a Sunday or Monday. Plus, although we were hired with no problem yesterday, Bloodydewdrop and Deanna were not hired today since according to the club they've been having a mad rush of girls starting there. That's BAD.

Bridgette

I'll cut the Pilates, yoga, and running out of my daily routine so, maybe, by the 12th my butt will be nice and squishy!!!

Yeah, that might help. I'd also suggest you get a BAD perm and an industrial-sized can of AquaNet.

Might also help to practice the shove-my-asshole-in-guys'-noses-for-a-buck move. LOL

Sounds like the SC of my dreams.

Brown University by day...
Giving up brown noses for a buck by night!

Sounds like Ivy League Stripper. Of course she was doing Foxy boxing for her money, though.

My guess is that the weekend will be better. I have been disconnected from most of the RI clubs for a couple of years now. My favorite who brought me from one club to another for about four years could make quite a bit of money at the time. I guess I was depressed for Deanna and Becky (not bloodydewdrop), at not getting hired, but to see how many girls the owners would have on a quiet night.

We'll see what the weekend brings.

Damn.. I had a feeling it would be a little rough, but not nearly as rough as B and Nina described. Yeesh. Just another reason I'm glad I don't dance here. It's bad enough living here sometimes. LOL

Sorry Girls. I hope Friday will be better for you. It sucks that you all made the trip up here and have to deal with this crap.

On the bright side though, there is Stripperfest! Can't wait to meet you all.

Hang in there!

I'm sorry it's so bad up there Nina.....I just wanted to clarify...I think it's Deanna's friend Becky that's up with her now in Providence....I'm headed to the area tomorrow. Damn....it sucks there weren't any spaces at the club available. I hope they find somewhere else to work....anyhow, I hope y'all make some $$ tonight and Friday. :)

edited: well, i guess Sad already clarified this point for me in a post i hadn't yet read...hehe. anyhow, it's terrible that the week wasn't good for you guys. i haven't heard anything negative about providence clubs in my area (central/eastern CT), but we do have some girls that travel from Providence to my club. I think it's just because they don't want to dance locally. Really suprising the $$ isn't good. Anyhow, good luck everyone.

Sandy, to clear things up...

Brown University is one of the top ten universities in the country, located in Providence. According to some it could be number 1 or 2, but most would give that honor to Yale or Harvard.

NoPink, I hope you get in! One very attractive thing about Brown is that you can basically create your own major and choose your own curriculum.

It was my first choice, I got accepted, and got a scholarship. But when I stayed there as a prospective student I was not as impressed--looking back I was given a very bad host, and left to fend for myself with no idea of where to go to get to know the students and see what was happening there.

So I chose University of Chicago, which though perhaps lesser known, has as high a rating, and also gave me a full scholarship. I have never regretted it, though the curriculum was much more stringent. I nonetheless more or less created my own major after a fashion, but it wasn't easy. But I digress yet again...

Well, now I am way the hell off topic, lol, but I wanted to fill in Sandy and congratulate NoPink, who has to be a very intelligent woman to be considered for admission (not that I am surprised to hear this after reading her posts). Nice going!

Brown was named after a Quaker merchant who donated $5K. US News ranks it #17 (Chicago is #13). Strong in the life sciences. Good in sports, especially rowing, lacrosse and track. The open curriculum attracts a lot of very bright students.

Friday afternoons before long weekends are usually good in Fantasies, but Desire has the hot young dancers and money guys.

US News rankings are not necessarily the most accurate, though they get the most attention these days. The various criteria for ranking can have an effect which may not reflect the prospective student's requirements. This publisher has received almost as much criticism as the Gourman Report in recent years, partly because the rating methodology changes so frequently.

http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/features/2000/0009.thompson.html

From the National Opinion Research Center:

"The principal weakness of the current approach is that the weights used to combine the various measures into an overall rating lack any defensible empirical or theoretical basis. Recent studies of the measure by McGuire (1995) and Machung (1995) indicate that the ratings are sensitive to relatively small changes in the weighting scheme. Much of the negative reaction by colleges and universities centers on the apparently arbitrary weighting scheme. Such criticism does not mean that the present weighting system is necessarily wrong, but it does mean that it is difficult to defend on any grounds other than the U.S. News staff's best judgment on how to combine the measures. Since the method of combining the measures is critical to the eventual ratings, the weights are the most vulnerable part of the methodology."

The one thing I like least about US news criteria is their heavy emphasis on Retention (20 percent in national universities and liberal arts colleges and 25 percent in master's and comprehensive colleges). "The higher the proportion of freshmen who return to campus the following year and eventually graduate, the better a school is apt to be at offering the classes and services students need to succeed." This is important to most students, naturally, but an institution which really pushes its students to the limits will lose a good proportion of those who don't want to be challenged in this way.

Here is a link, for those who are interested, giving numerous alternate sources for ranking institutions of higher learning, and varying critical input on the process.

http://www.bc.edu/libraries/resources/guides/s-edurank/

One thing I have noticed, having hobnobbed with academic types from all over the country, is that each University will have its cheerleaders, who will tell you all about why their school is really "better than Harvard" (how tiresome this becomes). At U of C it was the fact we had more Nobel Laureates than anyone else. Whoopee, like anyone else cares...

Still, being ranked #17, out of the myriad institutions of higher learning in the country, is very good. I was very surprised to see Rice being placed higher on the list than Brown, though it is of course a very good school by whatever criteria. U of C has slipped (at 13 according to US News) since I went there, and I have also been hearing recently that they were less selective about who they let in--whatever.

To those who are less concerned with the sciences, the placement of MIT and CIT so high on the list would be misleading, though these schools certainly deserve every bit of praise such a position would indicate.

Wow, I'm starting to feel really bad about mentioning Providence in the first place ! When I went to CF a few weeks ago and was prompted to make the original post it was on a Friday night. Hopefully this weekend's earnings potential will make up for the very slow start.

We heard the ads for that place over past few days and were tempted to check it out. But we kept getting told that Fantasies was the "best" place in Providence. Friday was slightly better for me and Bridgette, but we still only squeezed out about $500 each over three days.

Melonie, it wasn't all bad though. It was great meeting those who came!

Well Friday night pretty much sucked ass too, more guys but also more cheapass spectators. I could have made twice the money at my $10 dance club than what I made at this place. The only good thing about the whole trip was meeting SWers and the whole StripperFest weekend.

The money at Fantasies is apparantly only a fantasy now.
