Venus- I, too am a dancer in Chicago, and I utterly hate VIP's although I never actully got a chance to work there. I auditioned and they hired me, and told me I could sit, but not to talk to any customers. Ok, fine, I won't! But I had had some friends come with me to see me audition, I mean, I arrived with them, they weren't talking to anyone except themselves and the one or two female friends that came along. But when the manager saw me talking to the same people I'd been talking to all night, he grabbed me and hissed " told you not to talk to any customers. Get out," before I was even given a chance to point out that I had arrived with them. What the hell, how was I supposed to "Get out" without my ride, who, I might add, was the reason I was thrown out! ARG! it made me so mad!

WTF?? You're hired, and you can sit here, but you cannot talk to anyone? Which manager told you that?
Niceguy: Yes, they tell you that it's okay that they take the house fees and percentages that they do because you have the ability to make more money there. That's nice...but, really, I would like to leave with the more money I am making. Ah, well. I guess it's back to bartending for me. :D

I have worked all over the US and house is different everywhere.
In Dallas the house was free if I showed up ready to go on stage at 8pm!! Otherwise it was a $25 measly dollars!!
In New Orleans, they told me the house was $25 bucks, at the end of the night, I couldn't find anyone to pay my house to! :P The next day I walked and said,
"hey here's my house for last night." They said, don't worry about it!
OK.
Seattle is my home, when I first started dancing here, house was $30. Since the cost of living has gone up in the roaring 90's, It's been 70, 100 and 130 dollars in the Talent's West clubs.
I've worked at all the TW clubs and they charge accordingly to customer dancer ratio. Currently I work at the $100 club, and if I went to the club that charges $130, I would make more money. If I worked at the 70 dollar club, I would make the same as the 100 dollar club but be bored off my ass.
House is a flat rate, and tipping the DJ, doormen and bartenders is optional.
I refuse to work at a club that takes a dollar amount for each dance that I do. That means they are keeping track of how much money I make. I work on cash basis in the shadow economy for a reason!

Nick? LOL...why does that not surprise me? He's usually a good guy, but, I do believe that he PMS's more than a few times a month. :D Although, I do believe that the reason they didn't want you to talk to anyone is because they didn't "train" you. Before they will put any girl on the floor, you have to go through orientation.
So sorry that happened to you. Maybe you should go back and speak with Bob about getting hired, if you still want to work there...he's the best manager there and doesn't play games.

You know, it was less an issue of company policy for me, i mean, i understand that certain rules need to be followed, and i accidentally landed in a grey area. But he didn't even give me a chance to say, "Oops, I'm sorry, i didn't realized I'd goofed, let me remedy the situation." I guess you could say i was more upset by the delivery. I'm back dancing at my first club, my money is steadily increasing and i'm back with my old friends, and favorite DJ. But maybe I'll come see you work some night. ;D

Oooh. definitely come see me. Yeah, I agree, though, I would have been PO'ed by that and probably taken by surprise. It sucks that he didn't listen to you tell him that these were your friends...not customers. I am glad that your money is doing well. Which club are you dancing at?

It's a shame more dancers won't fight high stage fees. At the moment, I deal with agency fees. I feel better about those because work is guaranteed. It's tough for me to lay it on the line for younger dancers that the clubs don't give a sh*t about them. Brigette is right, it's greed, plain and simple.

VenusGoddess- Where the hell are you working where
you got to keep about 43% of what you made ? Even
at Scores you would have walked out with a better net-
over 50%. From what you describe , the club where you
work "TAXES" the hell out of what you're making. Tip-
out of 20 % ??
If you're half as good looking in person as your posted
photo, there are a lot of clubs that would love to have
you work there AND let you keep a LOT more of what you earn.
No shit!!!!!!
i agree 100%!
Come work with me and make me a zillion dololars while taking home more then 75% of your earnings.
