I also bought the Sublime Self Tanner in Dark, and just apply it to my face so I can get that glowy look. I bought it for my best friend too...she is much lighter than I am, and we both use and love it!

Sapphire------I love your new pic! :)

I'm so happy everyone loves it as much as I do (I'm easily amused)

I use the lotion. I know they have a gel. What do you guys think of that?

The gel was cool. But I like the shimmery stuff in the bronzer.

Thanks Cali_Tiffany! :)

Emily, I've started to get that cracked alligator skin. Is there a way to prevent this? Even with super exfoliating it doesn't go completely away. Am I supposed to just apply more tanner?

I found the light one...but it's not a gel. I'm terrified to use it. I wonder if I screw up real bad if Mystic tan will cover up my mistakes?

Ok I found the L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning lotion in light. It is not a gel. It looks and feels just like sunblock. It's white and it just rubs in. I put it on a while ago and it's done nothing. Did I get the right stuff? There were almost no directions whatsoever and it didn't say how long it would take, how dark it would go, or anything of the sort. Now I'm as pale as I was before, but more greasy. Anyone know anything about this?

wow...ok....nevermind, it darkened overnight. Wow...hehe....I look funny with a tan! My face looks pretty orange, but the rest of me seems ok. I'm a little bit splotchy in areas (around my feet and hands). But it looks totally normal (except for maybe my face). Then again, I've never had a tan before so I wouldn't really know. It's not a HUGE difference but it's certainly noticeable to me! And again, I got the light stuff. I might put more on again today and just avoid my face. Interesting stuff though!

SC, from what I know, you're not really supposed to apply to feet/hands. Areas too dry, don't absorb correctly. Saph, you need to moisturize b/4 applying. I've found anyway, the exfoliator while it's good to get the rid of the dead skin, is drying too. Btw, I learned all this from doing mystic. I was going to wait to use up my various self tanners, but now kinda jonesin for this sublime stuff. I'm kinda fair too, with yellow undertones in my skin. Sale goin on @ ulta, so I might be pickin' this stuff up soon.

Saw this @ Ulta, but didn't get...wasn't sure which one to buy. Thought I'd check out Wal-mart to see if they have..

cool. thanks, Em. It seems Wal-mt., & the drugstores are more on the cutting edge w/products, prices? than like the so-called beauty stores, Ulta (in my area). I was looking for the XXL Maybelline Mascara, (Hottie wanted to know if came in waterproof). They didn't even have it!

Yeah, that's why I tried to not put it on them....but it just left weird lines around my wrists and ankles. I tried to blend it out so it would be a smooth transition but it didn't quite work. Oh well, it's not THAT noticeable I guess.

The thing that works best for me is exfoliating and then moisturizing before applying the tanner. Then I apply the tanner (yes I do apply to my hands and feet). When you apply it to your feet, just do the tops...not the bottoms (of course) and go really sparingly on the ankles and achilles tendon area. For my hands, I just apply like moisturizer and then wash off the palms well. I've not had any problems with the "fake tan" look this way. Hope that helps!!

L'Oreal Sublime Bronzer (Shade: Deep) is my second favorite self-tanner. My first is Banana Boat. Though most self tanners suck completely, I notice that L'Oreal is good, but it still leaves me with an orange tint, and if I don't reapply almost daily, I get that cracked alligator skin too. Actually, I was getting a pedicure the other day and the manicurist was like, "You use self-tanner?" I said yes and she looked thoughtful for a moment then said, "hmmm. Kinf of orange-y." I was like, "Thanks." I hate how self-tanners make you orange. If only they figured out how to put the color that the REAl sun gives you (minus the hamrful rays) into a bottle ;)

Kayla nicole, the loreal made me orangy too. If you have a sallys beauty supply in your area try savage tan. Its a moose and it does look natural on me. I tan in the beds and it makes me look like I would if I weent to the beds, just darker. I think its 7.99. The best one I ever used is tomas tan perfect but you have to order it and its like 17.00 a bottle with shipping and handling. Give those two a try they are great.

I meant mouse, not moose sorry,

Thanks michele. I do have a Sally's nearby and will try "savage."
I wonder if the L'Oreal Sublime Bronzer makes only certain pigmented skin orange-y, because a lot of people seem really happy with it. Maybe I just have orange-prone skin.

I still find I get the best, most natural looking color from Bain de Soleil dark, but the smell is not pretty :(
My palms are prone to looking orangey though, if I let the stuff touch them at all, so I use gloves to apply, then do the backs of my hands with a little applied to a cotton pad.

Just tried the tanning milk. Amazing! It takes a couple applications to get dark. But, that might be good for fair skin. And it has AHA moisturizer so it exfoliates too. My skin looks really natural and glowing! LOVE IT!

the thing is that they all have the same active ingredient that makes you tan, so there shouldn't be any differences in shading on your skin unless you prep your skin differently.

There are lots of ways to tell a fake tan. The easist for me is that the feet are whiter than the legs and the toes aren't tanned at all (same with hands).

I agree that it isn't the same bronze color as UV light, but at least you have some color!

Also, if you put the tanner on the top-sides of your hands, then make sure you rub it into your knuckles while you bend your fingers. That's another big way to see if it's a fake tan. Looks good until you spread or bend your fingers... :D

Your complextion is similiar to mine, which of the loreal sublime bronzers did you use? Thanks
