One can absolutely be thin and still be "overfat"--just like someone can be heavy and yet not fat. All depends on the muscle mass. Someone with a low weight and a high body fat percentage just doesn't have a lot of muscle.

Quoted for truth. :D

Calculate Your Body Fat, The U.S. Navy Circumference Method

I dont know how accurate that site is...but I dont care, i love it anyway!!
According to that i am at my ideal weight(bleh..thats funny since I'm desperately trying to lose!)and my body fat is 18%. Which is way lower then I expected.

Its probably complete crap since I cant imagine how you can tell without a caliper...but it made me happy anyway!:D

15.5 last time I was tested. I was just tested with calipers, by a physical therapist at school. They still said that the number could be +or- 2%. I think the most accurate test is underwater. The people that are in school for exercise science usually have a chance to do this for free.

Most of us should fall between the 15-22 percentile but, there are sooo many variables. Im' 5'9 and 125 pounds and yet can lose or gain 2-3 pounds without affecting my bfi just due to water retention. for me its all about the mirror to tell how I healthy I am. the best method for testing body fat is under water imo.

Last time I checked I was at 22% (thats when I was a littttle thicker than I am now) So I would say 19% or 20% which is still "lean"...

15% is pretty low dont ya think? (for a woman anyway?)

Yup, at 15% I stopped getting my period. I was very athletic at the time and was I ever vascular (I had veins sticking out even on my stomach). My doctor said that I didn't have enough body fat to carry the right amount of hormones or something. He discribed it as "your body thinks that you are in conditions where giving birth wouldn't be a good idea since you're being deprived".

Oh and by the way I used a BF% scale, it's suppose to be accurate to 0.2% but I don't believe that so who knows what my real BF% was.

I just went back and read the rest of this thread and I just wanted to express how FAT I feel now! LOL

I think I was at 19% the last time I check. :-\

I think BMI % is a bunch of crap. It doesn't calculate bone density, muscle to fat ratio, water weight. They can throw off the number of how "fat" someone is. A guy who is 6' 1" can be super buff and be considering obese by BMI standards.

Agreed that BMI is a very vague and innacurate measurement of fitness, but....

Bodyfat % measures your body's fat-to-muscle ratio.

According to that site, my estimated body fat is 13% That is total crap. I went to the gym a few days ago and had my body fat tested. It was 23%

Yeah. When I had my bf tested with a caliper a while back it was like 18.5 % and then that site up there gives me 27%? wtf? Bullshit I say. I don't think a sit can calculate your bf %.

I just did it on the second site posted and I got 17.7 %. Big difference between 27% and 17.7%.
