My oldest son has one of those $300 phones that can take pics and mpegs. I, on the otherhand, have a cheapass Audiovox with no cool functions. I asked him if I could borrow his phone the other day (I was preparing for a club trip) but he said hell no. It sucks when your kid knows you are a deviant and wants nothing to do with your perversions ;D ;) I thought I raised him to be a dutiful and obedient son 8)

Ok on a serious note I think taking pictures without permission is uncool. Ive heard stories from several of my stripper friends and they all, to a woman, dont like it. I dont believe its a matter of morals or anything like that. I just think they expect to get paid for showing their stuff and dont appreciate a guy trying to sneak in a freebie, especially if hes going to take it home to whack off to.

I turned around mid-dance and said "If you take one picture, I will take that camera, break it in half and shove it up your ass. Do you understand me?"

I will only speak for myself in response to your post, FBR.

It's not a question of getting paid, or not showing my stuff for free, or anything like that.

I do my dancing in the club, and I want to keep it as such. If I wanted pictures of me to get out, I'd just go out an pose in a magazine or whatever. No one has the right to take images of me out of the club without my consent.

Cameras are not allowed in my club either. If you are caught taking a photo with anything, your camera/camera-phone will be taken away. It is posted at the door when you walk in, that if you take a photo, you will loose your equipment... ;)

I've a Nokia 6600 - it has camera and video functions and I bought it for such functions. I mainly wanted shots from my Las Vegas trip not only on my digital camera... on my phone too so that when I'm at work during a slow period.. I can look at them and ;D (keep me positive).

Same with photos of the cats on my phone.

At the same time, I have a nice little story. At an old club, I was on stage. A guy comes up to me and tips me $5 and says to me "This is so my friend can take a photo" which his friend does. After the stage show, that guy and his friend is still in the same seat. I tell the bouncer. This guy who has the camera who took the shot then totally denies he has the camera (it is a camera not a camera phone). The bouncer pulls the camera out of his pants pocket and the guy is still deny-ing it is his.. LOL! None-the-less, the guy was thrown out.

I've had many a lap dance interrupted by a phone. Most guys just hang up on the person (hit "reject")... some have talked..

Regardless, I too do not take kindly to my picture being taken for many of the reasons already mentioned.

I don't know the laws about it here in Australia.. or even Gold Coast.. tho' most clubs will still allow you in.. however will watch you delete all the photos or confiscate the phone if you are caught. A million and one photos have probably already been taken of me...

I try not to think about it mainly.. yet still be vigilant.

This doesn't really apply.....but I am reminded of a night out to a regulary old bar with a couple of my buddies. One of them suddenly pulls out his phone and says to a couple of gals, "HEY...lemme get your picture!" So they giggled and cuddled up and stood there for a moment while he aimed his phone at them. This went on with various other people inside the bar for a couple of hours until one woman looked at him and said "Yeah...uh....there's no camera on your phone." I was highly amused by the sheer level of compliance of people.

It happens a lot in memphis clubs. Who knows how many of them are out there of me. I bet some prick is putting them over the internet too!! making $ Sometimes I can tell. So we get the bouncer. But how many time do we all not notice..Scary Quess it's just another occupational hazard. Saddly.

This happened to me and another dancer. I didn't realize what was going on at first. I thought
the custy was been odd talking on a phone during a private dance. The club has a sign that
says "no cameras" at the door, so that would apply to phones with that capability too. (They
make an exception for features who take poloroids though.) If that jerk tries to publish photos
of me without my permission (if I knew about it and could catch him) I would sue him for
every cent he had.

Well, the club I dance at in Sydney doesn't even check for camera phones these days...they did for a while when they first came out apparently, but since I've been dancing there I've seen heaps of guys with camera phones (though I haven't caught anyone trying to take a picture of me). On the other hand it's really dark in the club where I dance, particularly in the VIP rooms which is the only place where they can get nude pics, so they'd have to have a DAMN good phone to catch anything. On the main stage we keep our g-strings on so if they want to take a pic of a girl's boobies they may as well go to Bondi beach where it's brighter. :)

I generally harass people with cell phones out at the club. If they're at the stage and pull out the phone I get far too close to them and start talking loudly. :) When the club is full of young kids, they ALL seem to have phones out, talking to people, somehow, over the noise. I won't do any floorwork unless people are tipping with a crowd like that.

Our bouncers don't seem to care about camera phones though, I'm not sure they even notice, though I've seen a few girls grab and erase pics.

It's not breaking the law...it's breaking the strip club rules...

This issue can be seen in the SEA context/model: The dancers are not intentionally consenting to be photographed when they choose to strip in the club, thus taking their pics is not OK. And note that very few customers would be happy with the idea of their pictures being taken in the club without their knowledge and/or permission.

On a more practical note, it is probably going to get steadily worse in the sense that digital cameras are only going to get smaller, easier to hide and more capable. I believe there are plans to produce frames for eye glasses in which a small digital camera will be hidden, along with a bit of electronics to store images and so forth. The nominal notion is that they would be used for security purposes in some situations, a sort of mobile security camera that would be automatically pointed wherever the user is looking.

The worst thing about this is that cameras on cel phones are becoming so commonplace that you're often likely to get one when you find a phone you like, even if you don't want a cam feature. That means that the numbers of camphone people are about to explode. Yikes!

The club I worked at was horrible about camera phones..the every day guys that come in cant bring them, but the VIP guys can, and who knows what kind of pics they are taking and selling on the internet. Poor management at that place.

As a customer. I have a camera phone, but I don't ever take it into the club. I leave it in the car.

I've cought guys taking my pics twice and another girl has had this experience.. There is never a reason they should be taking out their phone while sitting in pervert's row (or the erection section, as I sometimes call it)

If you see someone who is holding up their phone - stay away untill you finish your set then go straight to management - don't confront the guy yourself.

I don't agree...I think you have every right to make a scene about someone's camera phone. Why wait for 5 minutes before your set is over? Make a scene on-stage and the bouncers will be right there...and every one will see and that will also embarass the guy. ;)

At my club there's this handwritten sign near the door that says all cell phone use is prohibited. However enforcement of this rule depends on who ever is in charge. I usually bring mine in, it's not a camera phone, set it on vibrate and walk outside if i need to answer a call. The other night, the manager was being a complete dickhead because he saw my phone vibrating and yelled at me to turn it off. Yet there were several other white frat boy types who were actively talking or maybe taking pictures with their's. If I hadn't already talked with one of my favorites and wasn't waiting for her to come back from the dressing room, I would have made a point of talking to the guy and leaving.

cant use them where I work but I admit I have a camera phone myself but only use it when Im out with my friends etc. but I actually have never figured out how to get the image off and on my pc anyway LOL so I just take them for the spur of the moment and erase them.

In 72 posts no one has mentioned the flip side: dancers saying "you can take pictures of me" in VIP. I don't have a camera phone, but one dancer solved that problem by giving me topless pictures the next time I saw her.

Several weeks ago I was hanging out with a dancer who had taken nude pics of herself with her camera phone and sent them to a professional athlete. She did a TM swap with him while we were talking, then explained what was up.

I used to tell dancers not to let pics out, but no one ever listened, so now I just go with the flow. :-\

Nah, I think it's younger guys and girls having a "spring break" mindset anytime and anywhere. Hot pics have become as common as tattoos. :O

if i caught someone with one of these taking pictures i would take it and pawn it. hell, i dont even have to, my bouncers would grab it for me. i do sell pictures, but those are my own and through my website. i always mention it, so there's no need to bring a cameraphone. some guys come in with their cameraphones and show pictures of their friends or where they travel (these are mostly our regulars). most of our customers know better.

this happend to me once I was doing a function for 6 guys and I was giving the last guy a lap dance and was naked by that stage and the guy behind me in the other chair was taking photos! when I realized what was going on I grabbed his phone and smashed it to peices with my 6 inch heel, mabye thats extreem but I I dont give a fuck there are signs in the club telling guys that thEy cant take pics. And the bouncer and managers agreed with me for once.

Actually, regarding the legality or lack thereof of whether or not the picture taker needs a release- I have my own website, so, at least in my case, it's airtight that it's illegal since they did not acquire my permission to release it anywhere- not whether or not they plan to have any monetary gain or not.

Taking picture's inside a strip club without permission from the subject is indeed illegal. If a person is caught taking a picture and the equipment confiscated with the picture on it for proof, you can call the police and have the person who's picture was taken, press charge's against the customer. By law you are granted a reasonable amount of privacy, as in you wouldn't get nekkid on a stage set up in the park on a sunday afternoon infront of god and everyone. You only do it in a controlled enviroment where you know only the patron's will see. Any picture's taken without your consent, permission or knowledge are a violation of your privacy. On the other hand what you do with the photo equipment is a gray area as in If you smash it then you are in violation of distruction of property. It's a mess with these gadgit's and it's only going to get worse as technology improve's.

I was on stage last night and a guy had his phone just sitting on the ledge (about 8 inches lower than the stage. It was closed and his hands were up on the tip rail but a bouncer walked over, picked it up without saying anything and walked away. The guy was totally confused until I told him about camera phones and he understood.. I told him he can get it when he leaves. Phones are NOT allowed in our club AT ALL. Bouncers will take them if they see them and hold them up front until you leave. :)

Some of you'all might think this is mean but in my club if someone gets caught with cam phone taking pics it will get taken and erased or broke the dj tells them all nite long so its their bad, no one has called cops over it yet but im sure it will happen sooner or later but i honestly believe the cops that work our llittle area prob wont side with the custy. We only have about five different officers that come to our area and they know our girls pretty well.

^^^ In regard to that (I didn't want to quote it when it is right above this):

Is it still theft if it is clearly stated that items of that nature are NOT allowed insided the building? Everywhere I have been has a sign right next to the front door, clearly saying camera phones are not allowed.
It seems to me that taking something prohibited makes you lose your right to have it. Like taking scissors through airport security, no?/:O

I thought I had a pretty decent camera phone but if you take a pic or video in a club it doesn't come out well. I've never tried to pull it out in a strip club. I thought it was just known you don't take pics in there.

To take it, yes it would be. To request that the person volunterily give it up or leave the premises, that would be within the establishments rights.

The difference in the scenario you paint with the airport and the scissors is that the person taking them is acting as an agent of government, with powers granted specifically for that purpose. Where, in the club scenario with the camera, the person doing the taking is a private citizen with no such special powers under the law.

All the club staff or management can do is ask them to give it up or leave. They can't seize anything. They don't have the authority to do so.

Ah, ok. That's all I was looking for.

I myself have never seen a phone fiasco like the ones mentioned above, bouncers just make people leave them at the front door or take it to their cars.;)
