How in hell do you keep from having the top of the pole wobbling all over, if it isn't attached to the ceiling?

I had a pole in my living room for a while, and will again after we are out of this apartment. But we had it running up into the attic in the house I was living in, and bolted to a support beam. Then again, with me and my 175 lbs playing on the damned thing too, it might have been more necessary.

The grip finish sounds great, just don't get too used to it, especially if you wind up working at a club with a stainless steel pole, which are much slippier than brass, even.

well it is attached to the celing... ummm

lemme try to explain as best as I can:

There is a plat hook that you have to screw into one of the joists (for the stablity you mentioned) the plant hook has a *groove* (best way I can think to describe it) that the top of the pole locks into. Then the bottom is just a tension mount with rubber stopper-feet for grip on the carpet. Sounds, lame when I describe it but it locks in and works great! Can hold up to 250lbs.
(means you can swing on it djoser!)

Later I'll post a pic of my BF swinging on it. He's 180.

as far as grip goes. I actually would've like the brass better because it's slippier than the powder coat (allows for graceful sliding) but grippier than the steel.

My club has a brass, and it's much easier to work with to me. I've got all sorts of brusies from the pole holding onto my skin to tightly. *ouch*
