All this talk about Tokyo clubs - is Wild West in Kabukicho still there? Years ago it was called Paradise and was associated with 7th Heaven. It was one of my faves; I'd be sorry to hear that it is gone. Unlike all the Roppongi area clubs, there is no direct competition in that part of town, plenty of nightlife and red light type places in Kabukicho but no other gaijin style strip clubs as far as I know.

You can make that much money, and possibly more if you work six days a week like they require you to work in Japan.... And you won't even have to travel out of the country.

I think I'd only want to go if I really wanted to see Japan
Yep. Think about it. You work what, 8...10 hours a shift in Japan, 6 days a week (48-60 hrs/week), PLUS being required/expected to bring in customers off the street and go on lunch/dinner/shopping dates with customers before work. If you worked that kind of hours in most clubs, you could make the same money almost anywhere, especially if you take travel and out of town housing costs into consideration. Think about how many hours per week you work where ever you are now, and how much money you make per week and compare it to what they're making for all those hours in Japan. Figure 4500 per week at 48 hours per week, that's 93.75 per hour. Sheeeeeeit. I net that per hour right here and I'm willing to bet if I were willing/able to work 48 hours per week, I'd make something close to 4500 right here. And I don't have to deal with the contact levels that are expected there.

Only way I'd even consider working in Japan is if I just really wanted to go there. My friends told me it IS really beautiful and EXTREMELY safe. Violent crime is almost nonexistent there.

Japan is amazing, which is why I chose to go there as a tourist. You can barely have time to enjoy the city if you're working so much.

I'd understand why dancers from NZ and Australia would want to go though, since there are fewer clubs there and money potential isn't as good as some top clubs in the US.

Re safety in Japan - the only risks to life and limb in Tokyo that are higher than in most other cities around the world are fire and earthquakes I'd guess. A lot of buildings, including a lot of clubs, in Tokyo are real fire traps, and fatal fires are distressingly common. And, of course, they are "due for a big one" some day that will kill only 10s of thousands if they are really lucky...like California, but worse. In pretty much all other ways, it is among the safest cities on the planet.

As for seeing and getting to know the country...which is indeed fascinating, fun and beautiful...I agree that doing it while you are working is not practical, given the long hours and 6 day weeks. But there is no reason that working and seeing the country can't be combined in the same trip. For example, mermaidnz says that she has saved (after expenses) something in the neighborhood of US$7000 after working in Tokyo for only a month or several weeks or so. If she happened to want to spend her time and money that way, this would be enough for her to then take-off a month and see Japan as a tourist, even with the expense of living in hotels and eating our the whole time...say before she goes back to working or leaves the country or whatever.

My saying "and you won't even have to leave the country" meant that someone wouldn't have to pay travel expenses or be inconvenienced by international travel and being away from home, not that the country itself wouldn't be safe. Never having been there, I wouldn't know!

yea. I think id rather work in japan then in new york or some other big city. I like to experience different cultures, etc.

I like being made to work long hrs, otherwise i doubt id show up :( Plus for some reason, asian men love me!! I think id do ok there.

My comments re safety in Japan were in response to BGMM's (Big Green's) post, not yours, in case you thought otherwise.
