I've seriously and honestly seen girls dance to 'Rape Me'. Craziness.
There's another good reason to have a living, breathing DJ (if he/she is actually good, of course)--talking dancers out of using bad songs...
I had to do this at my last club with this particular song, though it took some effort (she was one of those self-absorbed, super-fussy, difficult types, even if I do still like her)--good thing there wasn't a 'Robo-DJ' there, she'd still be using it every single night, lol!
Since then I read here in Music Mix about how the song has nothing to do with actual rape, but concerns the recording industry's tendency to 'rape' musicians. All well and good, but the customers don't know that, and I don't want to give them any ideas--they were quite bad enough there, lol...

I had the displeasure of dancing to "Fat Bottom Women Make The World Go Round." I was infuriated, considering my ass is, well, bountiful.
I went directly to the dj after the set and was like, "wtf?!?" He said, "oh, it was a request from so and so (the club's accountant.)" I said, "tell him to take his clothing off in a room full of strangers and dance to 'Bald Old Business Men Make The World Go Round' and see if he likes it!"
It completely threw my game off (I usually dance to rap) especially when a customer said, "I'd go punch that dj in the face if I were you."

I found the lyrics to Stripper by Lords of Acid... personally I like the beat of the song but thats it...
I am a stripper
Unzip your zipper
Look at me baby
I'll drive you crazy ...
(come on, give it to me baby...)
Desire in your eyes
Your blood is on fire
I'm here to tease you
Ready to please you
My skin is burning
My body's yearning
'Cause I'm a stripper
Unzip your zipper
(give it to me baby, come on!...)

at the last club i worked at, quite a few girls would make unfortunate song choices, but one that stands out is "superman" by eminem.
some selections from it:
I'll slap you off that bar stool
There goes another lawsuit
Leave handprints all across you
and
Put Anthrax on a Tampax and slap you till you can't stand
Girl you just blew your chance
Don't mean to ruin your plans
But I do know one thing though
Bitches they come they go
Saturday through Sunday Monday
Monday through Sunday yo
Maybe I'll love you one day
Maybe we'll someday grow
'Till then just sit your drunk ass on that fuckin runway hoe
and
Kiss my dick, hit my cash, i'd rather have you whip my ass
Don't put out? i'll put you out
Won't get out? i'll push you out
Puss blew out, poppin shit
Wouldn't piss on fire to put you out
Am I too nice? buy you ice
Bitch if you died, wouldn't buy you life
and
Bitch you make me hurl

K, I have to get this off my chest.
7) South Park - Chef - Salty Chocolate Balls (yes, I know a girl who dances to this, and I hope she forgives me if she ever reads this, love ya girl!)
Anyone care to add a number 11?
:O I can't believe that someone would actually dance to that!! LOL I myself can't dance to ANY type of country songs.

:( Oh that was mean! I've never had anyone request me to dance to a certain song, but I would think they could have at least ran the request by you first instead of surprising you that way.

I second that Eminem ditty for one of the Worst Songs to Dance To. I actually didn't really catch the lyrics until just last night. I don't mind Eminem in principle, but let's leave out the ones that deal blatantly with misogyny and matricide, k?

I worked with a girl who would only dance to Alicia Key's 'Falling' every time she went onstage. Whenever I hear that song I want to strangle whoever is nearby because I've heard it SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many times.
I understand, cause I have this dancer at my club that likes to dance to 'Underneath Your Clothes' by Shakira for her second song EVERY F#%*ING TIME!!! I tend to have the same reaction.

Yeah, about 5 years ago a dancer asked me to play Eminem and I refused, since all I knew about him was that he had written the lyrics to that song, and was considered a 'poet'.
She went to the manager, and I wound up having to play Eminem. Since then I have come to appreciate some of his other stuff to some extent, but I can think of better poets.

Actually, I like dancing to that one (as a white girl with a ghetto booty, I've gotten pretty used to the comments & embrace it!).
BUT, the absolute worst song I've ever heard played in a strip club is Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven." Why in the HELL would you play a song about someone's kid who died?!?!

I don't like it when girls dance to Nas, that "I know I can be what I want to be" song, with the children singing in the chorus or whatever. I don't like when girls dance to Girls girls girls by motley crue either. Sounds cheesy and makes me think I need to line up for the t-shirt dance. Just about all rap sounds/looks bad onstage and is rarely pulled off correctly at my club so I hate all the hip hop too, but I'm just weird like that. Whoever said the comment about Nicklecrap was right on the money too.

Boy, after working for about a month, I'm compiling a whole anthology of songs to detest! A DJ who hadn't received my moratorium on "Figured You Out" (Nickelcrap) was working last night; since he's only familiar with hip-hop (nothing wrong with that) I get whatever he considers generic rock and/or roll. From "Mississippi Queen" (how random is that?) to Evanescence (hasn't anyone figured out that this is just lousy old Linkin Park with a chick?) to Nickelback. AUGH! It's a good thing I'm well-versed in forcing a smile onstage.
Songs I just plain don't get: That hip-hop remix of "It's a Hard Knock Life". It's cute and all, but as you're attempting to seduce someone? Then there's the "There's Some Ho's in This House", which I think has been mentioned before, and the masterpiece that consists of chanting "I Was Getting Some Head" over and over and over and over and over and over . . . I'd rather hear Eminem's meanest than that!

^^^ OMG, I thought I was the only one with a pathological LOATHING of "I Was Gettin' Some Head"! I FUCKING HATE THAT DAMN SONG!! This one girl at my club plays it all the time and it makes me want to run around the room screaming and pulling hair out. And then I always spend the next day with it running through my mind involuntarily...
"I was gettin' some head, gettin' gettin' some head, I was gettin' some head, gettin' gettin' some head, I was gettin' some head, gettin' gettin' some head, I was gettin' some head, gettin' gettin' some head..."
AAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!! :banghead:

I just made all the neighbors wonder what the hell I was laughing so loud about...
Never heard this song, and I've already heard it enough--but thanks for making my night, Yekhefah!

You have now heard the whole song. Read that clip out loud for three minutes, and there's the song. Blissfully, I didn't hear it tonight, although I did have to do a sexy, sultry classy VIP dance for a businessman to the tune of "Because I Got High" by Afroman.
No one else in the club was making any money - I just got lucky with one good customer, who broke my lifetime earnings record (yay!) - so they pulled out "Baby Got Back" and every ridiculous song they could think of. While I'm trying to be seductive in the VIP. Thanks, guys. ::)
No worries, seriously. I made a lot of money, I made it easily, and I made it through the whole night without once hearing "I Was Gettin' Some Head." So I'm happy.

Ha ha this thread makes me laugh!
I've been lucky to be abe to dance to pretty much whatever i wanted to in most clubs but i LOVE N.E.R.D. especially Brain and RockStar so i do like Lapdance too.
I love it when lyrics are smutty n suggestive which always seems to raise a few eyebrows from custys. (User Friendly - Marilyn Manson, My Neck My Back - Khia etc)
But i am sick to death of hearing NIN Closer AAAAAAAAAAAAAArgh!!! It seems anyone with dark hair and a few buckles on their bikini dances to that.
I have actually toyed with stealing it from the DJ box and replacing it with a copy of the Richard Cheese version!!! ha ha!
Dirty Diana i am sick of and Gangstas Paradise - both being overplayed.
Theres not much i dont like but i do think its crap when a girl dances to the same tune all night.

I was that man! And, yes, to say the least it's not an ideal song to help set the mood for a lapdance. But the way you danced for me, the song wasn't much on my mind. It was nice meeting you last night. It's cool that I turned out to be a (small) part of your record-breaking night!

Nirvana's RAPE ME
A girl on stage with me requested it, and it's my least fav. song ever, for obvious reasons (like the lyrics....) Anyways, the dj played it! And I was on stage! I flipped out, shouted "I won't dance to this shit for less then 100$, then marched completely naked, off stage and flipped out on the dj, and gm, since he was in the booth as well! They apologized, then switched songs, so I went back on stage, and a guy who had overheard my rant took me to vip and tipped me 100$ for every dance I did (6), on top of my vip fee for the 3 hours we were in there. He said " any woman who has enough sense to refuse to dance to that song desearves 100$. Since you danced to 6 better songs in our vip, I gave it to you" what a sweet guy! (I wish I had danced more durring our private time, I could have doubled that)

I REFUSE to dance to anything by Nicklecrap... I had one stupid DJ give it to me when I danced in Az... the look I shot him when I was getting on stage made him cringe and he said sorry like a thousend times lol. I wanna know where a DJ gets Nicklecrap out of Disturbed, Korn, Limp Bizket, Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie(those are the groups I gave him when he asked what I like)..
Figure You Out is a popular song here for girls to dance to ... as well as Animals and some other crap.. it all sounds the same and I cant stand it..
Wow, you like Limp Bizkit but not Nickelback?
Limp sucks WAYYY more balls.
lol
But, good choice on the Rob Zombie. Can't say anything about that; he's my idol.

Do you mean "fat bottom girls" by Queen? It has a nice beat to it and it isn't outright violent or insulting to women like Say, MOST rap Music. I'd rather dance to "left alone with big fat Fanny/she was such a naughty nanny" Than "Bitches ain't nothin' but tricks and hoes" Any day.

Here's two:
We Don't Have to Take our Clothes Off (To Have a Good Time) - by Jermaine Stewart (defeats the whole purpose of what we're doing as dancers)
and
Night Moves - by Bob Segar (kind disturbing, about a REALLY young girl practicing in her room to become a stripper. A little pedophile-ish)

taking the "strip club" factor out of the equation... you DO realize that the song is in NO WAY a "pro rape" song and is about something entirely different than "physical" rape? ................................... right?

So far from sexy. I'm so annoyed by this song because the guys get extra rowdy and disrespectful when it comes on. You would think the DJ takes a hint but he doesn't. He finds it necessary to play for the black girls when he can't think of anything else to play I guess. I personally think songs like this should be deleted from DJs music library.

Similar to what happened to MulattoKittyn, I had a DJ that wasn't too creative and annoyingly played Puddle Of Mud's "Blurry" when I was on stage. I generally danced to metal and hard rock such as Marilyn Manson, Tool, and Nine Inch Nails, along with classic rock like Led Zeppelin. "Blurry" is NOT hard rock, it is overplayed mainstream radio alternapop! Add that to the fact that I had VERY innocent looks(esp since this was before my boob job), and was trying to prove that I was NOT that innocent, and he goes and plays some stupid poppy song...ugh. I hate that song and I don't think it is good or even sexy. And the slow DJ played it more than one time, too. I hate DJs that are uncreative and play the same 'ol songs over n over again from the Top 40 promo CDs.

its not that i dont like nirvana- i do, i just dont want to get naked and dance to nirvana.
i would much rather sit in my parents basement and smoke pot while listening to nirvana- not try to dance for tips.

Ok, I'm suprised that noone has expressed ANY dislike for Crazy bitch by buckcherry(?). It's HORRIBLE and I for one refuse to dance to it.
I'm not quite as suprised that noone here has any sense of irony. I mean some of these songs would be funny and as I heard one particularly tactless customer say and I'm sure that many other customers would echo his sentiment " I don't care what the music is like, I don't care how good a dancer a girl is as long as she has a hot body and shows me her pussy. " Indeed!! The shitty part is that this this guy, always reliable if not polite always tips ONE DOLLAR per song. Fortunately, my favorite regular is his law partner and he keeps the creep away.
I digress, but then again my head is full of snot and goo, which is why I went home early last night and didn't go in at all tonight.
