Yeah this whole thing is insane, the reason they cant go after you now with the lawsuits is that they were using a law that Clinton put into effect that allows a non judge to issue warrents for information.
The Riaa was using court clerks to issue warrents for filesharers information.
Aol turned over a huge amount of people without even consulting a lawyer, as well as some other providers.
Some of them fought the riaa warrents on the grounds that they were illegal.
When they did that the suprime court said, "all warrents require judicial review" which means 1) an actual judge has to be consulted, and 2) a judge has more important things to do than look for illegal filesharers.

So yes they could come after you, but no judge worth their salt is even going to waste time on releasing a warrent in my opinion.

But if you want to move up to the real world of early release info with no trail use IRC fileshares. Everything is there, absolutely everything.
The only problem with IRC in my opinion is that if you dont know what your doing its like handing a gun to a 5 year old.

And folks, let's not forget Apple's iTunes Music Store. It won't hurt you to "buy" songs once in a while. Apple has a great selection, 30 second previews, artwork and the "best quality". "Limewire" is my backup for the stuff I can't find on Apple's iTunes Music Store.

I do occasionally "buy" those album I consider worthy. Thankfully, I spend a lot less money on crappy compiliations with one or two decent songs and 12-15 pieces of crap. Shame on us for actually having an avenue through which we can sample the work and make our own decisions to buy it without getting roped into a half-hearted effort. Yeah Yeah. I know you can sample in the store and online without downloading the actual song. Where's the fun in that though? I'm glad I now have the choice to support selectively with eyes wide open instead of sampling in the store where someone pesters me to buy something I might otherwise not touch if listened to in the comfort of my own home.

If anything, I believe the whole online availability deal forces artists to step their efforts up and spend more quality time in the studios. Hallelujah. :)

I'm all for buying the CDs I actually like. I totally believe in supporting artists that I enjoy. But especially for new and unproven artists, I download. I can down load one or several and then decide if I want to go out and BUY more.

Shareaza. It accesses 3 different file sharing networks!

I agree, Shareaza is my fav... no spyware bundled with it either, so far. If you read through their online help, there are some tricks to help connect & download better especially if you have a firewall.
