I agree w/242, Mr. B. Tracking all the cash changing hands is using an A-bomb to catch a fly.
I think that its a bullshit idea, no offence. It sounds like another facility for the club to use to determine exactly how much money I make, to pimp me more and take an even bigger cut.
I figured that this train of thought would come up, but this idea isn't for the clubs that squeeze every penny from the dancers. It's all about professional money control and managing the flow of cash through the premises. It's an idea for the new breed of owners, like myself, who simply want the clients to "forget" about how much money they are spending.
If my average clients know that they can drop $250-$500 on a card in advance, have a good time for the rest of the night AND gain frequent LD "miles" or perks, then I have accomplished my goal.
It sounds like it would leave lots of records and cause people tax and marital problems.
Not keeping money records is a bad idea in ANY legal business. Of course my theory is to make it easier for my ladies to focus on the only thing that they need to - making the customers happy. Taxes and the rest of that stuff can be managed much easier by the accountants - even for the dancers. Like I said, it's the new breed of club ownership.
If a guy doesnt want marital problems he can throw the card away by the end of the night. Hey it's disposable...
Even if the idea didn't suck, it would still be quite unrealistic: mine is the best club in town and they can't even orchestrate cold beer, never mind a kind-of Starbucks Card for strippers. Jeeze.
And by the way, this idea wouldn't even solve the problem. What if you dance 20 songs and he only has money on the card for the first 2?
If that's the way your club does things, then they don't know how to run a business effectively in these technological times. MY solution is transparent. The customer prepays as much as they can at the door, and if they need more "credits" then the waitresses have the ability to ADD more money to the card on the fly. The dancers will be assisted on the best and most successful ways to do this. Organization of every detail is key.
It's a different way of doing things, but it will allow the owners, managers, and dancers to know EXACTLY where they stand financially. IF there's too much flack from the dancers who have been in the biz for a while then the focus on hiring/rehiring simply will be on the newcomers who will have more trust in what the club has to offer. How can you work for someone you don't trust?
And to answer your question of whether the guy only has enough $ on the card for two dances but he wants twenty:
A good dancer can get him to buy more credits in advance "just in case" he may need more. By the time those 2 dances are up, she should have already signalled a waitress to be nearby to add more credits OR in a more advanced system the manager can monitor exactly how much each customer has left on his card, who is dancing for him and what area he is in - this allows the owner to position his waitresses near to those who are "running low" so to speak.
You can fight it now and call it whatever you like, but the industry WILL get to that point. The technology exists, it can provide extra revenue and it's relatively cheap to implement.

julzgulz, I'm sorry you had a hassle and ended up losing... $20. Still, $20 is nothing.
Every dancer gets cheated after dancing for a number of years. Often times for a lot more
than $20. Even with the best precautions you can get cheated. For example, I went into
the VIP room, custy handed housemom his credit card to bill for so much, I did a few dances
(most of the VIP), then housemom tells me that the card didn't go though... she was
supposed to run it right away. So I lost the time, all that money, and the house mom
needless to say lost her tip that night. Management of course did nothing.
I've been cheated by customers that supposedly don't speak English, other dancers who
steal, etc. Even though my losses have been relatively few, I'm a dancer who tries to
take every percaution, like getting the money up front if I suspect for a second I'll need
to terminate the private dance early, etc. Even so, every dancer gets cheated sooner or later.

i was at a club one night and a dancer asked me for a private dance. i told her yes and that i needed to go to the ATM first. she told me i could go afterwards because her favorite song was starting in just a minute and there was a line at the ATM.
after the dance was over the ATM wouldn't take my card. i knew there was money in the account because i had deposited 2 grand the day before. i was scared shitless because the bouncers at the club had been known to give their own version of a private dance to dudes who didn't pay.
finally the bartender ran my ATM card on the clubs computer and it got fixed.
sucks your security wouldnt help you out.

Mr. B, the same problem with cash would exist with your cards - unless the guy credits the money to the dancer's account prior to the dances, he's under no real obligation to pay her for them. Which brings up, again, the whole issue of paying up front for dances. What if she says she danced for three songs and the customer says only 1? I'm sure there have been times where the customer is perfectly able to pay, but runs or feigns inability.
I'll explain a bit more. The system is basically a pre-paid system. The cards allow the dancer to "see" how much money the guys have to spend upon entering the LD area. If he only has money for two dances, then by no means should she continue after two dances, unless he's one of her regulars. The decision is left up to her, but at her own risk. Of course, using her powers of persuasion she can always convince him to spend more on the spot...
I guess that things are done differently down here in the caribbean, where a bouncer beatdown of a customer can end up in a shoot-out at the end of the night (which inevitably involves the police).
Definitely cash up front - the ladies are worth it and it's less of a hassle.

I have to say I have been fortunate to never have this problem (knock on wood). I see it happen to girls all the time (so who deserved it because they were indeed trying to fool the customer). Be sure that the customer is clear about how the dances are prices and payment is expected. Just because they have been to the club before doesn't mean they have gotten a dance before. So tell them how everythings works. I usually do this right near the bouncer in the dance area so I have proof that the customer knows what is up and can't say I never told him.
Then, after each dance ask if you should continue. Don't assume they have a ton of money. I still ask my regulars after each dance. You never know when someone is just a little shorter on cash than usual.
Be careful when you have a customer who you suspect is a little tipsy. Either get your money up front or after each dance so that it is not a total loss.
To Julzgulz, I'm sorry you had to go through that. The only thing I would suggest you do next time is ask the customer who is buying for their friend exactly how many dances he wants to buy and even get the money up front.

Where I work, customers come and buy a pre-loaded card, sort of like a pre-paid phone card. They pay for it and it has a time limit. They must use it within a year.
Everybody thougth it would work good, but most customer prefer to pay cash.
So as to the efficacy of the new system, I would not know.
The club went through a lot of expense to bring in this system, but it has not been fully used. Looks like another idea nipped in the bud.

I have a tendency to look for custy's that already have tabs open becuase that tells me their credit card has been pre-authorthized for at least $100. I always tell them they can buy " Dance Dollars" and just put it on their tab, this way I know I'm getting my money and I always convince the custy that they are getting a good deal since they don't have to pay ATM fee's,

^ Not to be flippant, but find another club; security is supposed to prevent that shit from happening. If they won't do their job...
My condolences.
Agreed. There's no reason you should have to put up with a club that's run so damn shady.
And you definitely weren't being 'unlady like'.
Shit, they're lucky that's all you did.

most of my regular girls know i can cover however many dances i get, but i've had a few that didn't know me & want paid every couple dances its kind of annoying but not unreasonable. when my favorite girl is with me we usually end up half drunk & neither one of us has any idea how many dances we've done so i just give her whatever she thinks is right & we're both happy.
i've also had dancers try to rip me off.a few months ago i came in to see one of my favorite girls for her b'day, she was running late so i got some dances from another girl i didn't know while i was waiting on her.she done 8 dances then i paid her & my b'day girl came over.about 10min later she came back & said i needed to pay her so she could go work the floor, i told her i already paid you & she said if i had she would still have it in her shoe. i went ahead & gave her another $160. about 3 weeks later i stopped in the same club kinda late & when i sat down i noticed a pack of smokes on the floor i picked them up & there was $425 inside, about 10 min later she walks by & asks if i found a pack of smokes on the floor.if it had been anyone else i would have handed them back, drinks & dances were on her that night.

Karma works!
Maybe she will find something a little tighter to store her money in. If I lost some money I would be like "Damn! That didn't work!" I wouldn't be doing the same thing over and over.

The other night, I was walking around the club with a baseball bat.
One customer aske me why.
Oh, you really want to know, huh?
Try not paying me, and you will find out.
He did not say another word.

One custy tried to cheat me out of $40. Forty bucks! After I threatened him with bouncer retaliation, he coughed up the change. Yes I have seen girls cheated out of amounts over $100. I felt bad for them.
I snatched one guy's watch off of his wrist when he wouldn't let go of a $1 stage tip, it was more like a joke though....I got my dollar & he got his watch.
There is a lot of good advice on this thread. But, in every merchant situation, there will be thieving. Just be vigilant.

We had a guy get two nude dances the other night from a girl. He then said he had to go get his money out of his car. Riiiiiight. Anyway, one of the bouncers walked out with him and they were making small talk etc. When they reached the parking lot, the guy took off like a rocket.....ON FOOT! Keep in mind due to zoning and such we're pretty much in the middle of an industrial park. He got away, and the girl got ripped off for 80 bucks. After the initial shock wore off though, we all had a pretty good laugh about it. I mean, running away, on foot? What a PL, truly.

I agree with the idea of collecting every couple of dances...ive gotten burned once or twice and it sucks
As far as security goes, it their job to protect us, not collect our money...thats OUR job...be it upfront or after..not their job...
BUT...the least they could do is kick the guy(s) out...it kinda feels like a slap in the face if they screw you over and stay to tell others...it makes you look like a mark....

To Dippidy Dave,
I don't blame you. Dishonest girls like that give the rest of a a bad name. Serves her right. When you do bad, bad comes back to you. >:(

This may seem like the obvious answer but why aren't you collecting for the dance upfront? I didn't collect upfront one time, and I got burned.
At the last club I danced at, the bouncer at the entrance to the VIP room collects my money upfront for the time he is alloting us in the VIP room. When times up he comes back in and I ask if the custy is ready for more. If not we get a minute before the bouncer comes back and escorts us both back to the main stage. It helps having a bouncer who is collecting upfront so that I don't have to be the bad guy. It also helps insure that the custy has the money for the dances. Talk to your club manager or house mom about getting a Bouncer that will be strictly in charge of the VIP dances.... and don't forget to tip him!

Collecting money whether upfront or after the fact, is really dependent on the club and its management. Some clubs are like those fast food joints, pay before service, and others are like Logans, Apple B's, pay after the fact.
I like mine upfront, it solves the problem of the customer not paying afterwards.

I usually don't get money up front either. But I do after 3 dances if we could settle up or do you want to put it on your tab?
Our dances are $30 each, so I usually charge $100 for 3 in a row. I as for payment in increments of 3 dances.
It sucks it happend to you hun, but at least it was only $25 you lost and not the whole thing.

For what it is worth, I don't mind paying in advance. However this door swings both ways:
I was at the SR in Vegas with a bachelor party of 7 total (4 of us have been friends since we were ~6). The bachelor was in 'vip' and we were pretty much just hanging out waiting for him to be done. To kill the time, I bought a friend a dance from a short super-saline blonde with a tight ass and great thighs, his type down to her toenail polish color. Another guy jumped in and we each pre-paid and tipped her for a dance (2 total). After the 2 songs, my friend chats for a song and then makes it 3 on the one after that. They discuss, he pays, and rolls his chair back to the group.
I ask my sexual degenarate friend how was it, he thought she was great (thus the third dance, to restate the obvious). He then asks, "I thought you guys took care of the first two dances?" I pop my head up and start looking around, but like a fart in the wind she was gone forever (we were there for at least another 2 hours, never saw her again). It turns out he had questioned her about us paying (opening the door for it), she had culled him far enough from the herd, and probably saw enough cash in his wad that she angle shot...
From then on, If I buy someone a dance from a girl I've never met, I give him the money to pay her, with the exception of places like the above mentioned where a host/bouncer collects for the girl for 'vip'.

Well here is one way to deal with a non paying customer
just kidding !
Seriously though whenever possible get your money upfront.
However in many areas that just isn't the way things work and the customers will get offended at being asked to pay first. In those cases I suggest getting paid after each song because that way if a customer is there to steal dances you won't be out for numerous songs and lots of cash.

get them to pay up front...i'm not sure how other clubs work but with our clubs we go up to the bartender with the customer, they pay for it upfront -- we get a token...we take it to the bouncer who watches us whilst we dancfe to make sure there isn't any funny b usiness -- when i'm done i go up to the bouncer who gives me the token again..i go up to the bartneder and i get my money there
