I don't follow any particular religion but I do believe that there is a higher power and it is something us stupid human beings will never understand no matter how much we try. All religions pretty much have the same message...just be a good person, do what you can for your fellow man, and don't purposely go out of your way to do evil and mean things to people. I don't have to go to church to follow those things. But I respect people for their beliefs even if I don't agree with their beliefs.

this pretty much describes me perfectly! It's nice that there are so many different views on this message board and so many open minds. I constantly feel like a minority and a freak in so many settings when it comes to religion. I swear in New Orleans I felt like the only person there who wasn't Catholic!

I actually invented my own religion. It's closely related to paganism, but it's definitely different.

Nothing in particular. I like aspects of Taoism and Buddhism, and I don't know if I would consider myself agnostic or atheist. I don't believe in a spirit or God who is omnipresent and decides what happens to us, or even someone who guides us. On the other hand, I do kind of believe that there is something out there. What I do believe it is cause and effect, which is not to be mistaken with common beliefs about karma. I believe that things happen at random in our lives or is an effect that we don't see and that we CHOOSE to make and discover meanings from things that happen, not that some great being made something happen to us so we could learn something.

It's funny that this thread got resurected (pun intended) today, as I just took one of those online quizes about religion. I guess I'm either Christian Scientist or Unitarian Universalist, according to the quiz!

Huh. Who would of thunk!

Unitarian Universalist would be my pick--if I absolutely had to--I like their tolerance for different religious and/or spiritual views. I just chose to have my mom's funeral in a Unitarian church, and it was the perfect way to go. Those people who were very religious were happy, and those people like myself who believe Life itself is sacred and don't presume beyond that, and everyone in between as well.

I'm all for Christian strippers, and wear the cross, by all means! If there is a God, I don't think he/she/it'd be mad about nudity or eroticism, though he/she/it might think some of the manipulation attempts by management and guys trying to get blown pretty shabby and disgusting.

I am a positive agnostic in the sense that I do not have any idea of whether gods or God exists, but I also actively disbelieve the major religions.

My ideal religion would be one that revolves around many sexual rituals and glorifies giving another human an orgasm.

^What he said. :)

I'm agnostic, raised protestant, and at one point in my younger life was reasonably devout. I don't see religion as a handicap really, although it does frustrate me at times- the judgement, violence, and conformity that it can inspire. I do believe in prayer however, there's something to the power of the mind.

I'm awed by nature but it's an impersonal force. My view is nature will fucking kill you and not give two shits. It's humbling to me, how insignificant we are (in my opinion) in the grand scheme of things.

Frisbeetarian.

That's the belief that when you die your soul goes on the roof and gets stuck.

Atheist - but have no problem with any religion as long as they are tolerant and moderate with it. (A good friend of mine is a Buddhist for example.)

Atheist because when I look at the scale and complexity of the universe we live in, I find it impossible to visualise a deity who can assimilate information fast enough and reliably enough to be Omnipotent.

Moderate religion is just fine with me - most, if not all religions give their adherents a set of moral guidelines to follow, and people are better individuals for following them.

I dislike religious fanatics, (of whatever hue), because few things worry me more than people who absolutely know they are right and who have no room for the views of others.

Phil W. agree totally with this, I grew up in a strict baptist family and 4 years ago became atheist.

I've been many religions. But I've walked away from them all, I have my personal beliefs but they are mine.

All I know is I move through this life without regret and do my hardest to see that my actions have as little negative long term effect on others as possible. I know that if someone genuinly needed help and I was in a position to give it, it would be given. I just do the best I can, treat those that affect my life with as much respect as deserved, make sure to remember those who have had positive influence on me, and submit willingly to whichever devine it is that has the pleasure of judging me at the end of this so-called life :D

<Mustang> There is NO SUCH THING AS GOD.
<Pride> No way we can know that, General, but there are a such thing as devils.... They are the alchemists that seek to get in my way!

I'm a Christian since I was very little. I feel slightly guilty about dancing but I try to act good and kind in other parts of my life besides dancing. Are there other Christians dancers out there?

another one here ;D Was raised catholic but then started going to Christian churches instead. Used to be an alter server & everything.

Catholics aren't Christians? I think they'd be surprised to hear that.

I know I was when I went to a certain Christian school locally after going to Catholic schools all my school-life. Those Christians who think Catholicism isn't Christian usually base the argument on the fact that all catholic churches have idols of Mary and Jesus... and supposed catholics pray at these idols and thus worship these idols. What these idiots fail to realise is that catholics are not worshipping these idols.. and instead using them as focus points for their prayer... no catholic in their right mind would ever think the actual idols of mary and jesus in the church are akin to real people.. damn! That's blasphamy if I'm not wrong?

Anyway, it may be an old thread yet I read my old response... and nothing has changed for me. I still hold those same beliefs and same label, as such, for my spirituality.

I don't have a religion as I'm solitary (not part of a group or tradition).
