For those of you who don't know it, DJ_Duane and I are BOTH team in training members, training our asses off for a good cause.

Duane just does this out of the goodness of his heart, and I have a promise to keep. In 1998, my fiance died of a rare form of Lymphoma. It was so newly classifed and poorly understood, that nobody at the time knew how to treat it. In the afternoon before he died, I promised him that I would find a way to help other people and families to keep them from going through the 2 years of pure hell that we and his family had to endure.

I know money can get REALLY REALLY tight for us dancers, especially right now after tax time, and I appreciate that. IF everybody on this board woudl just donate $10 to one or the other of us, it would be such a great help! I don't have my donation page up yet, so please, PLEASE, PLEASE
visit Duane's page and help him out . . . with whatever you can . . . it will make such a HUGE difference in the lives of people who have the various diseases, and their families.

Think of it as building good karma!

I agree with Colleen.... go to http://www.active.com/donations/fundraise_public.cfm?key=tntsdhDBrowni and give a donation ;D

"Pay it forward"

My only question is.. how are the donations handled? Do you have to have a credit card (or even something like a visa debit card) in order to donate on that site ? I ask so then the more international members (like myself) will know if we can donate or not.

;D

I looked at the site, and it appears that you can use any credit card, Visa, Mastercard, or Amex. I suppose a debit would work, too. It says US and Foreign cards are accepted.

By the way, I just put my own page up. Here it is:

http://www.active.com/donations//fundraise_public.cfm?key=tntilEmcbrid

Please donate to this vital cause that does not discriminate against dancers and other adult entertainers!

:-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

PS: If you do not have a credit card and wish to donate, please PM me so I can give you some mailing information.

I'm interested in help finding a charity for the Pinups4 project. Currently being examined by a few groups, but maybe y'all can help me find one to actually say YES!

... Dedicated to helping good causes raise money and awareness, my organization has launched a program (very recently....our website isn't even done yet) called "Pinups for a Purpose" - creating pinup style (non-adult but fun) calendars, posters, etc...as a fundraising/friendraising/branding tool. We'd like permission to do one for the the ________ and your partners - either nationally or regionally.

Though welcome to be as involved as you like, you would need to do nothing except provide permission for this project to commence. We would then begin searching for sponsors, planning model search events, etc...all the while keeping you "in the loop" and getting appropriate approvals from your staff as you deem appropriate.

Up front, we would provide a guarantee of 100% profit donation to the partner charity (after hard costs such as printing, event/travel, and LIMITED staff time)...we estimate this will be on the order of 40% of gross. All creative would be approved by you and would be tailored to suit the mission/program you want us to promote.

Could we set a time to discuss this further? Our company is based in Pennsylvania, USA but we're interested (locally, nationally or internationally) in working for you in the regions you choose to concentrate.

I ran into the new general manager of the Deja Vu in Honolulu tonight. I mentioned to him that I had sent in a request for corporate sponsorship for our cycling team to Deja Vu via their website.

He told me that all corporate sponsorship requests are handled through the main office and not at the local level. He then told me about several charitable donations they make locally, including to assorted childrens charities and an organisation that helps the elderly. Okay, fine.

But then, he told me they also contribute to the CHRISTIAN COALITION!

Yes, you read that right: the Christian Coalition.

He told me how the coalition actually accepts their money and, yet, snubs Deja Vu afterwards.

Well, DUH! That's a no-brainer, right there.

In fact, it seems that few recipients are willing to publiclly acknowledge gifts from Deja Vu, regardless of which charity receives the money.

Okay, charities that help the elderly and kids are totally cool by me. But to give money to a group of people like the Christian Coalition - which would gleefully put all strip clubs out of business - baffles me to no end. As far as the CC is concerned, all strip clubs are brothels and all strippers are prostitutes. People like that label everyone in the business as scum who are cheerfully leading this nation to Hell. Yet, Deja Vu gives them money?

So, they will give the Coalition money, but not the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society?

The LLS will a) accept the donation; b) acknowledge the gift in a private letter; and c) publiclly acknowledge the donation by placing Deja Vu's logo on banners at the event, provided that the gift is above a certain amount ($1000+).

I honestly doubt if the CC solicited money from Deja Vu, but I did on behalf of the Society and the mail system on Deja Vu's website signalled me that the email had been received. Yet, I received no follow-up return call from Deja Vu. No one at the local LLS office received any calls or letters from Deja Vu either.

The Christian Coalition wants to shutdown strip clubs. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society wants to cure blood cancers.

Between the two, which charity is more deserving of a donation from a strip club?

Both will accept the money. But only one will acknowledge the gift publiclly.

Color me baffled.
