I'm surprised at how many women are getting offended. For goodness sake, are you really that disturbed? I'm with MsQwerty on this one. Its ok to have lots of threads about one topic. We have about a gazillion threads about Lush bath products. In fact, I just started one myself!

nobody is being mean. its just how people are so quick to complain about the "women of color" post as if we are coming to together to eliminate the "non-colored" race, when all we are doing is are just trying to acknowledge other women of color.

Ooh, I can't pass up this thread, love it. Anyway, I am 100% African Gypsy, yes we do exist, grew up in West Africa. People often ask me if I am mixed with Asian, wouldn't that be nice.
never heard of that one b4. i never knew they had west african gypsies.

i think all that anyone had a problem with in the other thread was the tone of it. it just seemed a little aggressive or something, i dunno. there was just something about the attitude of the OP that was a bit... i dunno. whatever. i'm not starting drama. *steps out*

The race problem will never go away because of people that want to keep viewing things as black and white. Everybody is complaining about how WOC are treated in this industry, which you all have every right to because it's awful and unfair, but I truly don't think things will get better if people continue to try to seperate ourselves according to race. That's the only reason these threads upset me a little.
For those of you that want to flame me, go ahead, you're just making yourselves look immature. There is almost a whole page of stupid comments about me. Why don't you guys do something more productive?
I too am done with this thread as well as the other one.

Firstly I dont mean this to sound rude, but what do you honestly know about about being a woman of colour? How do you know how to solve our problems in the industry.
Dont you think that if it were that simple we would have figured things out by now?
Just because we have a couple of threads (a few out of many thousand!) doesnt mean we are seperating ourselves. We are not seperating ourselves anymore than the Aussies are when theres been a call out to all Australians on the board. No one has a problem with that though...

you still don't get it...we can't do much about the racism that persist in the industry. the least we can do is talk and complain about it, especially with other colored folks that understand what we're going thru. I don't see any crime in ranting about racism against women of color. infact, you aren't trying to view this situation on a different stand point. you just think its totally unfair to post a thread like that, when in the first place, it wasn't meant to separate the races.
p.s. i see alot of aussie posts and i don't have any problem with it. if a post doesn't pertain to me, i wouldn't go there and make trouble. any group can post any thread they want as long as they aren't offending another group. even if the "non-coloured" folks decide to make a special posts for themselves, they have all right to do that as long as they aren't offending other races.

So, what you're saying is that because WOC are standing up and bringing to light the very obvious and vicious practice of racial discrimination in the SC, they are, in fact, separating themselves and viewing things only in "black and white"?
*smacks forehead* I'm so glad you cleared this up.
If you were to read further into this, you'd see that the very reason for them wanting to end this blight is to just level the playing field and separate strippers into "earners" and "non-earners".
So, you can't comprehend being broke and it's obvious you can't comprehend being a gorgeous, sales-oriented woman who is not allowed to work in a sales-oriented environment, an environment in which she is desired by the customers, because of the short-sightedness of a SC manager.
Solidarity is called for during these times, so is support. I see this thread as being both, but more towards the latter. And I thought that was why SW was in existence.::)
This crap is the reason beautiful people like Layka left the site.

Alright, one more thing and then I am completely done with this.
I might be a little bitter about this issue because being white doesn't automatically exclude us from being discriminated against. This isn't exactly the same thing but I'll explain my thinking. I love rap and hip-hop music and the other night some friends and I wanted to go out dancing, as the club selection is pretty limited here we went to one hip-hop place and were literally the only white people in there. It didn't phase me or matter to me or my friends at all. We were all very respectful and polite and just wanted to have a good time.
All of the people there just pretty much stared at us and the women gave us very ugly looks and we were just standing there drinking and talking amongst ourselves. We all felt very unwelcome, but were determined to have a good time, so we stayed. Later on, I was on the crowded dance floor and a WOC was coming through the crowd and somebody pushed her. She turns around and automatically starts yelling at me, and I guarantee you it's because I was the only white girl out there. There were at least 3 people in between us and I couldn't have reached her even if I wanted to. She started to try to come after me, the situation was handled though before it escalated farther. But I guess there is no way the person that pushed her was one of the 30 or so grabby men in her vicinity or somebody who was dancing and accidentally bumped into her? I've had similar experiences going out to the hip-hop clubs before too, but I'll just tell the most recent one. No, I most certainly won't stop going to these clubs when I want to dance. Just like WOC shouldn't stop trying to become dancers because of the discrimination against them in this industry too.
Sure, going out to a club isn't anywhere near the same thing as a career/job as a dancer. However, my approach is that if people were all colorblind and didn't see people as a black person or a white person but just a person things like this wouldn't happen.
Before people unnecessarily flame me, I know full well that my situation and the situation in this industry ARE NOT THE SAME THING. I was just trying to explain my views on the issue. By all means, carry on with the thread *leaves*

Beautiful, if you would have just explained yourself instead of saying something mean like "there's already another thread about this", nobody would have responded negatively to it.
When you suggested that a thread, that had nothing to do with you and was in its proper place, be moved or condensed, you crossed a line. Especially as a relative newcomer who doesn't realize how much of an issue this has been on SW.
Just take a deep breath and think about someone else first for 30 seconds before you type. You'll do just fine.

The OP of the previous thread didn't sound anywhere aggressive. people need to stop making excuses for why a post shouldn't be up. it was deleted because people are sick and tired of hearing WOC whine and rant about certain things race relatiing.

It's not about the color, it's about support and solidarity in the face of discrimination in the stripping arena.
If you wanted to start up a thread for any discrimination you might feel being a white person, you'd get just as much support, and our WOC would stand right along with you, knowing it's not about the differences between posters, it's about the fight against intolerance.

Perhaps people should re-read something in a couple of different tones and have a really good think about how likely it is that the topic was meant offensivly instead of jumping to wrong conclusions. I think the first page of answers in the other thread spoke volummes.

i understand that when i comes to the threads where issues are actually discussed. but the ones where everyone is just like "yup.. im 1/2 black 1/2 native american" or whatever, i just dont see how thats helpful. thats good that you're proud of being whatever ethnicity you are, but i don't think it would go over so well if i was like "hell yeah! i'm so proud i'm white!" maybe i'm wrong.

i think that is what i have been wondering too. i mean obviously i'm not gonna go starting threads about how hard it is to be a white girl working in this industry and about prejudices and stuff. and obviously i'm not going to get put out when a WOC starts a thread about the difficulties of it all etc etc. but the acceptability of a thread that has no purpose other than, "non-white girls, what is your ethnicity" vs a thread that has no purpose other than "white girls, what is your ethnicity" is something i find a bit strange.

Yeah Britt, but that's not about color, that's about preferences by the customer, as in, the one who's actually buying the product. Incidentally, I know a WOC who is skinny with no ass and likes rock music and black guys won't buy dances from her either.
The discrimination LS speaks about is about the narrow views of the SC manager who is not in touch with the wants of his customers due to his own prejudices.
