i think there already is, thats janet right? shes a girl, and a dancer (i think?) and an agent, who i think is good.......

?

she is good, but she is an agent FOR the agent, shes the middle man. maybe if she WAS world agancy, it would be a much better place :) unfortunatly she has no control over what world agency do as a company. she just promots them.

we need someone like janet to BE world agency

well maybe when world agency all get arrested and shut down (soon?)
there'll only be nym agency and odviously suck so then janet can start her own agency! :D

this is such a stupid title for a forum.

i think janet could kick ass, she doesnt need stupid world agency, i reckon she does a much better job without them.

tiffany is definatly cute.

haha and neither racheal or jessica are stupid. they're just normal unstripper kindof names (not like my name!)........

im glad you dont use ones like paris and bambi and sky!

yes.. It would be pretty difficult to get actual working visas in japan i think.

But i think if they could do it, janet should start her own company too

we should tell janet about our idea...
the problem is,
its really hard to get entertainment visas now.
and its not so hard to get working visas but even then, they still dont permit you to work in clubs or in the entertainment industry so theyre no use (still proberbly somewhat better than a tourist visa though!)....... so its hopeless!

this is my 100th post :D

tampafl, whats your dancing name?

A few random comments on points in the thread:

Sushi, thanks for clearing up my misinformation about them charging you for each night you stay in "immigration jail". That is definitely what I was told, but as mentioned in my post, I found it hard to believe...sounds crazy. I guess someone misunderstood something somewhere along the rumor line.

While I agree that the agency basically screwed sushi over by putting her at risk with esentially no clear warning, I also think that she is wise (and mature) to take some of the responsibility herself for trusting them and so forth...at least in her own mind. If you don't take responsibility for what happens to you in life and just blame it on someone else, you are a lot less likely to learn something from your experiences, imo.

It sure didn't seem like any of the dancers I talked to at 7th Heaven, Divino and elsewhere knew what happened at Lips and what seems to be happening in Japan re enforcement of visa regulations. So, they may well be at risk themselves and not know it. On the other hand, maybe they do know but just didn't trust me enough to talk about it (why would they...just some custy asking nosey questions in their eyes).

Finally, it could turn out that the situation for foreign dancers in Japan is going to change drastically if the authorities stick to these busts and strict enforcements. If so, there might be far fewer gaijin dancers here in the future, only those that go to the trouble of getting an entertainer's visa. If so, by being more of a oddity, more exotic, the few that do make it could end up earning much more money. And, indeed, there might turn out to be a market for a new and good agency that actually helps dancers get the visa they need to work in Japan legally...assuming that it is possible at all to do so. Of course, something entirely different could just as well happen. I will be in Japan most of the time through May and will stop by the clubs occasionally and see what seems to be happening in them...or if they are even open! I'll report anything that seems interesting, of course.

From Japan Today http://www.japantoday.com/:

"Crimes involving foreigners jump 16% to new record in 2004

Thursday, February 24, 2005 at 10:20 JST

TOKYO — The number of criminal cases involving foreign nationals, excluding those with permanent residency status, rose 16% last year, over the previous year, to a record 47,124, the National Police Agency said Thursday.

The police arrested or sent papers to prosecutors on a record 21,842 foreign nationals in 2004, up 9.2% over 2003, for a fourth consecutive yearly increase, the agency said."

I hear that associations of foreigners with crime in Japan, which is still low compared to most other countries but rising, is an increasingly common theme in media and government commentary. This may well be connected to the crack down by immigration officials on visa violations...whether or not the association has any basis in fact (which is dubious, imo).

Oh my goodness, i had to check this thread after the report on 60 Minutes about girls being raped and murdered in Japan. Even though i didnt watch the report it reminded me of this thread and i got so so scared for sushi doll since she's a fellow Australian. I'm sooooo glad you're ok though. Seriously, come down to Melbourne to work. It's nice and safe.
