You got fired??? huh? Who fired you and who else got fired??? This is new to me...I was looking for you on Sunday to see how your going.
Hope it goes well at GF,
:-*
hey sush,
Why don't you try spearmint? grand Prix, is not as great as you think, there are heaps of girls but you have to know how the work the crowd and get the timing right, of when to apprach guys. SP is my home club true competition is tough, but one thing you find here is that you need to talk to the guys, there is not much " hey lets go get naked" . You find more often than not you need to chat a bit.

sorry to hear that Sushi, but Im sure rest of the clubs on King St. are welcoming you BIG TIME! I only worked at GF - Gold Fingeres - a few years ago so I don't know how is the crowd now but it was totally fine club.
also I think it worth to try out MG and SR whilst you are in Melbourne. (I heard MG is a bit posh?)
Good luck! ;) ;)

My dance teacher went down to melbourne for the grand prix
basically i think the best strippers in australia go down there that week, and they probably just get rid of all the new girls to make way for the talent... there's some serious money to be made that week
dont worry about!!
Good luck!
I heard Gold fingers is really good

So now that Grand Prix is over would it now be a good time to get my act into gear and go visit a few clubs and see if they're taking on any new girls and hopefully get myself a job?
Why wait? Clubs want new girls all the time, it's not really a matter of whether there is a position vacant.

Because the club i want to work at is the club Sushidoll was at and she got fired temporarily because of the GP. So now that it's over ...
Ok, haha, the answer is yes then. *hauls ass to the city*

hey there!
i work at men's gallery melbourne, stay away from the gold coast... we have girls who fly down to melbourne to work at gallery from gold coast, money's not good (except for special events) and they allow touching. The four big clubs in melbourne are spearmint rhino, mens gallery, goldfingers and bar20. i really wouldn't consider the others to be honest... the four big clubs will look after you and there's money to be made if your prepared to work. Men's gallery is ok, clientele has dropped (we now have a younger market) which is ok if you can handle big groups of guys, but they work you really hard on table sets (you'll have pretty much one evry hour/45mins). bar20 is fun, but they do have a really young crowd, same goes for goldfingers. Spearmint is smaller than the others but probably has the best clientele, actually if anyone has worked there i'd love to know what it's like as thinking of shifting myself. Goldies and bar20 are fun, clubby sort of spots while gallery and spearmint are more 'gown clubs'. Money is pretty good in melbourne, but has gone down a little lately, however if your prepared to work hard you should do pretty well at any of the 4

Wahhhhhhhhhh!:'(
Girls, this week was my worst week ever! It's like a grand prix hang over or some thing!
I have never done so badly at my club before, and it was not for lack of trying. All the customers were far more rude, cheap and annoying than they have ever been; such a awful energy floating about. Some girls even refused the leave the change rooms and go upstairs to talk to the patrons, simply because they were such a horrible crowd.
Any one else in Melbourne have a crap weekend?
The touching side of the Gold Coast is just a part of life, if you can handle it, then why not? Honestly you just get used to it. Sometimes even become a bit numb to it actually. I prefer my ass to be touched more than my boobies because there is less feeling in my ass!! haha..
Gold Coast is good too, but too many bikers was my main problem about the Gold Coast, but you just have to stay away from those guys. Be polite, but just keep working, and don't even ask them for dances. Not worth it.
You can make money anywhere if you work hard.

Actually, Sydney's REALLY tough at the moment - there are so many girls dancing at Dancers right now it's not funny. On weeknights the girls outnumber the guys, and early on Friday nights (before midnight) it's the same! I've decided to stop working temporarily, my exams are coming up anyway and I'm not making enough to justify the loss of study time. And the Dancers crowd is getting younger and younger (it's right underneath Hugo's Lounge, a trendy bar), all the punters just want to try and pick us up! >:(
Though I suppose I'm lucky that Sydney table dancing clubs are strict no-contact, I think we're missing out in terms of being able to offer customers lap dances like what you girls have in Gold Coast and Melbourne - effectively a customer has to pay close to $80 to see us naked for 15 minutes, you have to work so hard to try and sell a private show. And on Saturday nights if you're unlucky they roster you on for jellybean wrestling (fuck that!!) Sometimes I wish that Sydney wasn't so restrictive. :(

MarieKitten -- If GP in Melb is ANYTHING like Indy here on the Gold Coast (this year will be my fourth Indy)... the week or fortnight following that event is absolutely crap and to be avoided, if possible.
The same thing happens on the Gold Coast esp. the week after Indy. Everyone has spent their money and gone home. I managed to avoid the post-Indy slump by shooting off to Rockhampton last year.
However Rockhampton isn't what it used to be (or it could just be the time of year) so I've crossed it off my list of possible places to work (esp. since I realise I really can't handle working away from home for 3 weeks and they ONLY do 3 week or longer contracts).
As for Melbourne clubs -- Goldfingers is good however can be a little too full on (a good dancer friend told me she actually saw dancers fingering themselves and so forth in a dance) for some.... MG is restrictive with all its rules and its constant table dancing (hard work).
Spearmint Rhino is the "top club" as far as I have heard. Bar20 is a fun club. Bar20 is smaller than Goldfingers yet is great for those who like to do "shows" (as they will pay you to do them and they do "shows" often).
Then there is Dallas Dancers (used to be Kages on Kings). Due to the new owners the club has cleaned up (Kages had a bad rep.) and I have been told/informed that it is a really decent club (and worth checking out).
I plan to go down to Melbourne for a week or two week stint later on this year as I want to check out Dallas Dancers and Spearmint Rhino. After I have done that, I will then decide which club I will choose as my Melbourne club (to dance within when in Melbourne).

I called in at Dancers after Mardi Gras and it was busy, but a friend working there told me that was just a fluke. I think that club is set up wrong!
We've had way too many girls on at Showgirls too - they just keep hiring more and more which is crazy! It's much quieter now than it was this time last year when we had about 1/2 to 3/4 less dancers! I've been thinking about going elsewhere, but I'm hearing it's shitty everywhere currently.

No, I got offered work there about a year ago, but Showgirls was great at the time so I didn't bother following it up. Everytime I've thourght to go there it's been too late. I wouldn't mind checking it out sometime though.

Well howdy all!
Boy am I pissed off!!! >:( Its not only the new girls they fired but ME as well!!! Ive been on vacation for a week and I came back tonight and called work to find out what time Id rostered on for and they said Id been cut!!! I asked for what and she said she has no idea!! Ive been there for about 7 years!!! My best friend Reble got 'cut' too and she has been there for over 10 years and if Im pissed of she should be doubly as she did so much for that place (Bar 20)....I think they should at least give us a reason...Im mean, COME on!!
We are clean dancers, dont do drugs or get blindly drunk, cheat customers or anything..what is going on? Im still in shock I think.
We have both gone up to Goldfingers, it actually looks very classy, and Reb says it runs so much smoothly that Bar 20...I just dont know whats going on down there anymore...
So wish me luck, I start next week...:O

Bella, it is sad for me to say this however that is pretty much how it goes in this industry. They just do not care for how long you have been there or what you have done for the club... if they want to get rid of girls they will... no heart. That's just the nature of the game (as such) sadly.
Are you sure you want to work at Goldfingers? It is a little bit full on with esp. it's lesbian shows (fingering, licking each other, etc).... it has a rep. as a "not so clean" club for a reason.
Give Dallas Dancers, Spearmint Rhino or even Mens Gallery a go if you find that your experience at Goldfingers isn't "clean".
I must admit that if Hollywood ever decided to 'cut' me... I would be majorly devastated as I don't really have anywhere else to go on the Gold Coast. There is only one club left that I have not worked within for very good reason (too rough for my tastes).

I hear that Goldie goes through phases... things will be clean then will slowly get dirty, and then suddenly the managers will crack down and fire a few girls, and it cleans back up... and then things will be clean then will slowly get dirty.... and so on.
Once again, I have never worked there myself, but I have a friend who lost her hours at Bar20 (as with a lot of other girls, it seems) and is trying out Goldies this week, so I can get some goss off her as to how things are right now.

Hmmm, Dallas is quite different from Bar20. Any one who has worked at Bar20 might want to try Men's Gallery or Spearmint, first.
Dallas is a clean club, but it's got a different vibe and a different type of clientelle, that's all.

Hollywood Showgirls has a new Dancer Manageress! ;D ;D ;D
The one I really disliked and had no respect for... well.. Karma finally caught up with her power-abusing ways! YAY!!! Now I like working at my club and find that my desire to travel elsewhere isn't so much anymore.
At the same time, the club isn't exactly taking on new dancers in a hurry as it has plenty enough working for it right now. Just FYI...

Firstly I must re-fresh my sales skills. I have fallen into a few old habits and really require my sales skills that I learnt (and eventually lost in a way) over the next few months. Why? I might be "staying put" for now and just travelling 'out of town' for 7 - 14 days (working either 5 or 10 nights) every second or third month..... just to keep myself fresh (minimise burn-out)..... winter is on its way... it is already becoming cooler now.
This is the slooooow time of year typically.

heeeeey!!!!!!!!! its me! sushidoll! did y'all miss me?? ;D
sorry it's been sooo long again. hope you didnt all think i got myself in trouble like lasttime :P
my stupid SW account was stupid so i had to get a new one.
anyways, im at home now still. im thinking ill be staying for a while too (atleast untill the end of the year.) - proberbly going to start studying again, get my pre tertertys ( :-[ OMG I can't even spell that, yeah right as if ill ever be able to do it! but im going to try). anyways, if i do (study) my mum wants to buy me a computer and pay my rent, which is sooooooo generous.
im not really sure what i want to do, but when i work it out i want to be able to do it, so this kindof seems like the right thing to do right now......
but yeah, im still definatly not cheap to run! and i do feel bad totally spungeing off of mum too. more than that though i totally miss dancing!
i could dance here. but 1. the clubs not great & 2. everyone i know would find out, and im not sure if i like that.
theres only one club here, the mens gallery hobart. i called them a few weeks ago, its the same club that i started at (worked for a week when i was 16) so the manager lady knew me. shes not too nice though, i was really sick when i was surposed to go in and she didnt believe me on the phone. but she called later and was nice. that was a few weeks ago though and i didnt call back since, because i cant really start, while im living here anyways, or my mother would catch on. and i really wouldnt want that. but i am moving out very, very soon, so i could ...........
but she wants me to work 4 nights a week (all the nights theyre open) wed, thurs, fri, sat - and if im studying fulltime i couldnt do that could i?! and if i ever wanted to go out with my friends. also the the club takes 15% on the private dances rather than house fees........ so its not the best set up. but its the only one here, and it is a small club with like NO competiton, so there is proberbly quite a bit of money making potential there.
more than that anyways im like addicted to dancing. if i go without for like 2 weeks i start getting all funny about my body, all self concious and un cofindent and un comfortable in it. maybe joining a gym could re place dancing in that way though? ...............
i could make regular trips to melbourne just to dance for a week or so and come back. or i could just go a year without, if i could afford to! i mean, you can do uni wanywhere.
i dont really care what anyone here would think. my friends would get other it i think. and my family already have really. and if they didnt theyre stupid heads :P i jusat really wouldnt want to work 4 nights a week though. but i do want to dance. i think?
should i try dancing here?
hey missh20 , your a holly too!! :D i saw your post on thebestdancers notice board! yayyyyy
rach , where you at? and how are going there?

thankyou so much for how you helped me when i was in melb.
has anyone tried out the mens gallery and spearmint rhino yet??????????? im interested in spearmint rhino but kindof scared of it too..
haha on south park last night they had a strip club called peppermint hippo OMG i nearly pee'd myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! haha...... yeah, im really bored ....
if you guys arent doing so well where your at you should all come here!!!! (dont i wish :) ) ..... its like, an untapped market! i bet all you experts would totally rake up all the money on this silly island!
or ive heard the dollhouse in perth is actually pretty big. i found my japanbestfriend on the site! im so proud! i really want to be there!!!

MGs in Hobart... I wouldn't go there unless I was paid very well. All my information is 'second' or even 'third/forth' hand however the overall general impression I received is that it is an 'untapped market' for a reason: the has-beens go there.
It isn't really worth it. That's only what I have heard on the grapevine. My experience there will most likely match my Mt Isa (run for the hills!) experience.
I've been kept up 2 date about Mt Isa.... still no good. They can't "keep" any dancers there for any decent length of time... well the good quality ones anyway. Management is the same and still won't listen to good advise.
In the end, sushidoll/hollydoll, do what you think and feel is best for you.
What you could do is stay in Hobart... study... as not having to pay rent and having a decent computer is a real decent 'deal'... and during the holidays go to Melbourne to dance. Alot of dancers who are 'uni students' do this... only dance during the school holidays.
However if you want to make the trip profitable.. work 5 nights allowing yourself 2 nights 'off' each week.
;D

thanks gcg,
i really agree about the mens gallery. the girls there, from what i remeber are very skanky. its just small, very small.
i dont think i wioll dance there, unless i get super desprate. because im starting late in the year and doing a huge tonne of work which im terrible at im not sure ill have holidays enough though, *sigh*
moving out/exercising/dancing naked in my living room will proberbly be enough to keep me happy in the end!

Hey Sushi!;D Sydney's really dead at the moment, I've actually stopped dancing temporarily as I've got my uni midterms coming up and it just wasn't worth spending six hours to earn like $50-$100 or whatever on a weeknight. Don't know how Aussie's doing at Showgirls, but I've been told this is the "dead period" so I'll give it a miss for now. Though I did go into Mens Gallery tonight and banked quite a bit because it was Members Night and there weren't that many girls on so they called me, I did six private shows, one of them for 45mins with a bunch of Japanese men. Yay!! ;D Didn't make much on the podium though, nobody was sitting at the podium! And since it was Members Night, had to fend off the usual "come to Sugareef with us" advances from the younger guys. :O
Hey if you're bored why not buy a pole and play around on that? Oh, your mum might freak out, eh. Maybe when you get your own place! ;D

any ideas why its gotten so bad? ok i know the goldcoast is seasonal, but whats with sydney? ,any dancer should be making at least $300 any weeknight or its just not worth being there.i had a pretty bad week last week too, but thats cos my "honeymoon period" was up and id just hit a wall-self inflicted.heh

Well, I've been dancing for less than a year so I've no idea about seasons and things. There's too many girls and not enough guys like Aussie said. I've been told its unusually slow for some reason. I've got exams coming up anyway so I've canned it for the time being. I'll restart when it gets quicker!

This time last year we were much busier - there is just less people around. I think things really started to slow (uh, slower...) when the value of the Aussie dollar went up a while ago - not sure how it is now but there are defiantly less back packers holidaying here this year. Last year every night of the week out club would fill up with them, now we're really struggling to get the club even half full and we're not a large club!
I personally thing the shit 2 r&b / love song cds that keep getting played over and over and over and over in our club are not helping things in out club. It just makes everyone feel lathargic, bored and too layed back, then they leave to go somewhere with a livlier atmosphere where-as before these horrible cds appeared people would bee all cheerful and lively and have a good time.
Sounds like things ain't doing so good back over there? Is anywhere safe these days!!?? LOL Sounds like the industry is turning to shit everywhere :(

Brisbane isn't too bad and it is the last place (as far as I'm aware) to not have the 3am lock in YET...... even tho' the state gov't is looking into introducing it to Brisbane.
The two clubs to give a go is Velvet Cigar and Club Minx. Otherwise try Showgirls. None of the other clubs are worth it esp. the Bad Girls clubs as you have to "work you way up" to Bad Girls Platnium from one of the shitter Bad Girls Brisbane clubs.
Just realise that the majority of Brisbane clubs take a percentage instead of having house fees.
