At least we will get SW a whole 10 hours before they do !! ;D ;D ;D
Do we? Or are they timing it so that it's released at the same time throughout the world?
Well yes, worldwide English language releases make sense, but that would mean using logic, wouldn't it? Perfect case in point - I saw "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" on a pirate Malaysian DVD a few weeks ago, and they haven't even started advertising it here yet (not that it's any great loss, but you see the point...)
I suspect that the U.S. is the primary 'test market' for distributors. If it does well at the box office in the U.S., then it's released in other countries quickly so that they can maximise their profit margin. If it doesn't do so well, then release overseas is either delayed or (for a few movies that I've wanted to see) omitted entirely and it goes straight to DVD.
Or it could be on the cinema side of things, who wait to see the box office take before they pay licensing fees for a given movie (actually, this seems more likely)

I thought it was a movie about the old "Good vs Evil"
It was interesting, crazy but interesting.
It lost me a once. It just did not seem to fit together. I thought Bruce willis died before the mug with the face of Kirk douglas died. It was confusing at the end. I guesse I don't know where ginger was supposed to have died in the scheme and the guy who was the cannibal showed up at the very end of the movie when bruce and nancy were together. I thought the guy who looked like kirk douglas killed him. cut him up.
I would have to see it again and it really is not the kind i would see twice.
It was interesting though.

Bruce wills character just passed out, which does happen in real life after somepeople get shot. Who is Ginger? you mean goldie? The cannibal guy showed up at the end of in the nancy story because that story happened before he was killed by Marv. Literally, If you want a linear timeline The nancy story happened first, then the hooker story, then the marv and goldie story.

Yea, That's it. I meant Goldie not Ginger, sorry about that.
Thanks for the timeline, clears it up a bit. I would have to see it again i seem to remember the cannibal guy getting killed twice. by marve and some one else.

Actually, all three happen at the same time.
Here's a timeline...
Hartigan saves Nancy from Junior, gets framed for what Junior did/was going to do to Nancy.
Hartigan spends 8 years in jail.
Marv meets Goldie.
The Girls of Old Town kill Jackie boy and Dwight winds up on his roller coaster.
Hartigan gets released.
all that crazy shit happens in all three stories, all at the same time.
The film ends.
That's how it is in the Comic, too.

Saw it. Loved it.
I think we're about to see a revival in Film Noir. I wasn't familiar with Frank Miller's comic books before, so I'm glad "Sin City" was made to bring it more mainstream (hopefully, it won't become TOO mainstream) so people like me are privy to it.

Couldn't believe how cold this left me. Walked out before the end. I am sorely, sorely diappointed; I like Miller and I had high hopes for the techno-fest that was this film, but really, just not good.

Mmmm...Susan, that's a pretty strong negative report, prob the first one on this thread.
Because of the rave reviews so far, I'd like to see this film but I'm not sure when it is released in Britain. I hear that the violence/sex are very exaggerated. Was it that that you didn't like?
Normally when I watch a film, my views sometimes go totally against the critics too. After all, I totally loved Oceans 12 and even to this day, think I'm the only one!!

Okay, seriously. We all LIKED this movie?
I expected something A) a little more stylish. A little more Bacall and, frankly, a little more sexy. I think actually, Jessica Alba was the best thing in the movie - and I can promise that I didn't EVER think I would say that. I don't think that her breasts really would have added a lot and I think she really successfully communicated "exotic dancer" without actually crawling naked on the stage. One of the few parts I liked was when she did the little leap off the stage. Also that one line of "Rory's". B) something a little less misogynist. Enough said. The sheer construction of the "pleasure gaze" when a woman is being smacked around, the eroticism contained in the abuse of this movie, is entirely without irony. I mean could the women be any more "possessiony"? And could they be any more facinated with the penis as a power source? Okay, I know I should have said "phallus" but they are really reducing right to the penis. C) better scripted and better acted. Enough said. It was just stilted and awkward, and not in a way that was in character. and D) really. We all liked the black/white/splash thing that much? It reminded me of T shirts and poster little kids used to like with the black and white picture, with the red rose or red lips.
I don't get it. I had anticipated actually enjoying this movie. Now I want to write them and demand compensation for that 3 hours of my life. Because that was another thing - I thought it was never going to fucking end! Bruce Willis says "The End" and I say "Finally" and then.... he changes his fucking mind (and everyone in the theatre laughs at me). What the fuck, Bruce Willis? I thought I could trust you! In Die Hard you seemed so dependable, like you would always be there when I needed you. And now, this? I don't know what to think anymore. All the things I took for granted in our relationship, I now have to question. I'm just going to need some time alone to think about this...

My Best Friend liked this movie so much that he's going to see it again when he gets back from moving his Girlfriend down here this week. He says he liked it that much---that he'll pay to see it in the theaters again. He's also told me that I need to see it, and he'll babysit.
But seeing all the reviews here, I'm not so sure that I wanna see it.. Hahahaha. We'll see..
