As long as you look classy to the customers, you are fine. If a customer's alone, he's a target. If he's with someone, he'll tell you.
To prevent what happened before, invite the customer to your stage. No one will touch him there. If he's stubborn, say that you must dance when you are done. As soon as you are off stage, go up to him, regardless if someone is there (she's not supposed to be there anyway), and say, "Let's have that dance now."

Some of that is club culture. At one club where I worked, if you didn't close the sale by the time you went on stage, you were SOL. This is because it was a REALLY slow club, and we were all just desperate to make money. Sometimes a custy woudl join you at the stage, sometimes they would jsut tell the other girl, "I'm wiating for the girl on stage". ANd sometimes he realy jsut wanted the other girl anyway.
The cool thing about that was, it was the same for everybody. We did n't fight about it b/c we all had the same attitude: If I can't separate this guy from his money, somebode else had better do it. And I worked with one girl there who was ALWAYS hauling guys she was sitting with up to the satge, and I suspect shaming them into tipping. I wish I had figured it out before I quit there, I would have been doing the same!
Back to cattiness: Some dancers will leave their drink, cigarettes, whtever with a custy they want to guard, but still work the room. When they see another dancer approach this guy, they will ZOOM over to him, claim their possessions, and start a convo with him. This essentailly leaves the approaching dancer (me) standing there with a dumb look on her face. Any help?
