Has anyone attended the Sterling NY renn faire this season? What was the
experience there? How much fun did ya have?
I see on their website that there's just one weekend to go. I've become a
bit of a history buff from watching more of the History Channel on tv the
past couple years ... but haven't yet been to any renn faire--lol! I see
that the Sterling one has been held for many years and has a large number of
"stages" and vendors. See--
Seems like this kind of festivity would keep getting better & better from
year-to-year, as returnees may tend to become more participatory in the
role-playing? Or as a character in one of Shakespeare's plays declared,
"All the world's a stage."
I also found a "Directorie of Renaissance faires" around the country at

I love Renn faires. The first one I ever went to was the Bristal one up in Wisconsin. I've gone to the Texas one about 4 times now; the last time I went I finally ended up getting a costume. I've been looking for years so I was really excited. I tried the whole thing on off a manican. It just went together so well and purple is a royal color.

I can't wait! Ours is the one in Tuxedo NY (Sterling Forest).
We usually go the second week in September when the crowds have died down and I don't get the vapors from the heat and being laced into that tight corset.

Right. This is the last weekend of the season for the one in Bristol, Wis. I'm going on Saturday (after morning Bikram).

Well, I don't like to document my staggering around the fairgrounds and slurring wit (the wenches dig it!). But you go right ahead.

Wow, I got to this thread late.
I used to go every year with my mom at the one in Apache Junction, AZ. Fun times. But then a couple years ago I started getting busy and haven't been to one in about 4 years :(

I've only ever been to one when I was a young girl with my mother. After that I had no interest, but this is silly, after seeing it on Girls Next Door, I think it looks fun. Plus I really want to dress up. I might try and convince my one friend to go to the next year one so we can get costumes and stuff like that.

Oh, and I forgot....if anyone here watches Reno 911 they'll know about these scenes. I love the scenes when they get called to the ren faire and the guy is being a complete pervert and claiming they are from the future or something. It's hilarious.

I'd never been to one before moving to this area 20 years ago. The ex and I went a few times, then we took the kids (once when one was still in a stroller!) and then many more times over the years. I guess I've been to this location 10-12 times over the last two decades.

Eee! I adore ren fair! I missed it here last year but I went the year before. I'm just hoping I don't miss it this year! http://www.lvrenfair.com/
Definitely something worth spending money on!! In fact, I think I'll start stowing away bits of cash for fun money!!!!

I love renn faires. There are two in St Louis every year. Renn faire in May/June and PirateFest in Sept.
I go... and I go in costume. Ours is a fantasy-ish one too, so I'm usually a fairy or my best friend's "pet" complete with leash.
lol. We camp out and get really wasted. It's a good time.

The one we typically go to is in Maryland. It's a lot of fun every year, and the mead flows freely!
Yes, the one in Crownsville is the one I grew up on...I love that they own the area and built up on it, etc...The one down here in Tampa at MOSI is a pale comparison, but, they DO get the Tortuga Twins (www.tortugatwins.com (http://www.tortugatwins.com)) That, and my friend actually had a friend make her a chain mail dress- very cool. :D

^^^I've only been to the one in Crownsville and heard it was the best one so I'm afraid to go to any other ones because I would be disappointed.
