Another thing: There's somebody on Ebay selling 'XXX Stripper Poles' (which annoys me in and of itself, but whatever). ... Just wondering whether anyone here has tried it. I'm looking to buy a few more poles and it'd be nice to find a cheaper option. THANKS!
smittenkitten, here's a link to a post in another thread on personal dance poles...

We talk a little about the xxx-pole and it looks like one of the ladies has ordered one, so hopefully a review will be coming shortly.
(BTW - I absolutely agree with you about the lil mynx pro pole: Pole = Good ; Case = Bad)

is it my imagination or has my post gone missin?
I believe scarlet is referring to her latest post from earlier today, and I think that the last post by VenusGoddess pretty much sums it up.
Scarlet, I understand you have a grievence with PlatinumStages, and I think we can all say that we appreciate your feedback. I hope I'm not speaking out of turn, but the post may have been taken down because the mods felt it repeated what had already been covered previously.

ofcourse your not speaking out of turn. a forum is for airing your opinions in a polite way, which is what i have done even though i am over $600 outa pocket. my post was not repeating anything. it was asking why PS pole should fall down? is it because its another bad product or is it because the instructions are not comprehensive enouth. it was also surgesting to kittykat that she shouldnt be greatful to PS especialy as they sent her what looked like a used product.
the above has nothing to do with what has been said b4, this looks to me that your sponsers(PS) are perhaps leaning heavily on the modorators to not make them look bad. may i ask you modorator do you have this site for dancers to have disscusions on dancer topics or is this purely a money making venture? PS did excatly the same to and it makes me sad to think the same goes on over here.
please correct me if im wrong but im sure i wont have the opertunity as this post (which i might add the subjet matter has not been spoken about b4) will more than likely be removed.

I removed the last post because you put it completely in caps and because, for the most part, you just repeated how terrible your service with PS was.
PS has nothing to do with my moderation of this thread. In fact, if PS was "leaning" so heavily on the moderation of the forum to remove anything that made them look bad...do you really think I would have left all of this up to begin with?
I have removed the posts that are going around in circles...repeating the same thing in different words is the same as just plain repeating what has been said.
If this is going to continue, I will lock the thread and those of you who have something (anything) new to add without going around in circles can PM me and I'll open the thread, again for that posting.
Also, scarlet, while I understand that you are angry with PS for your troubles and money spent...you are not going to gain anything by repeating yourself over and over here. If PM's don't work and you've not had resolution that is satisfactory for you, then maybe you should consider seeking the counsel of a lawyer.
Again, the thread will remain open, for now...however, if these repeats are going to continue, I will close the thread.

Oh how i would love to seek counsel but i am in the UK and for $600 + it just wouldnt be worth my while and PS know that. my only way of getting somthing out of this situation is to warn others. while i take your comments onboard i do feel that i have not been rude or incorrect in my statements, and feel your treatment of me is a little unjust. perhaps you are right about my going round, but i did make some compleetly valid points THE POLE FELL DOWN is that not valid enouth?
From what I read on this site barely anyone has a good thing to say about ps Including one of your moderators.(her comment to a previouse post about PS was to say "PM me and i will tell you the problems i had with them. i cant do it on the forum as they are a sponser". is it all about the $$$$$ or should we be thinking about the safty of dancers?
if you chose to ban me or remmove this post then so be it but ive not been rude in any way but i have been truthfull!

Scarlet, when the pole fell down on me it was obviously a user error. The instructions were clear, I just did not tighten the pole enough. As I stated, I am now able to do any tricks I want on the pole. I understand your pole is different than mine, so I can only speak for the super pole in saying that it does stay up when installed properly. As far as being "grateful" for them sending a scratched base, I was only glad to see that PS offered to rectify the problem when I spoke with them. They apologized and said they would ship out a new base immediately.
I received the new base and a 24" extension (both shiny and new). I am now just waiting on a 12" extension and the case. While PS has some customer service areas that need addressing, I cannot fault them in the quality of their product. I am extremely happy with the pole and use it daily.

Okay a couple of questions here- I've been following too...
I had a pole at my old house.. that was custom built for my garage (turned my garage into a studio).. but now am in a different house, and although we have lots of room, not enough in the garage to do what I did before and not a room in the house other than the living room for me to pole... so I, was looking at PS poles, was online the day this post started and didn't order because I wanted to wait to see what reviews were. I previously had a Lil Mynx as well, but they aren't portable.. or perhaps they have one now..
I have some questions:
How heavy is heavy? And, because in my case, I'm going to be putting this thing up and taking it down daily.. does it leave any marks on the ceiling or floors? I'm only 115 pounds, so when I read your post about you being 110 and it coming "crashing" down, I immediately had visions of getting hurt..
How long did it take from ordering to delivery?
And, you said that you can do crazy tricks.. is it so sturdy that there is no movement at all? I've fallen before , not fun....
Thanks.

Hi Gynger,
Lil Mynx does have a Professional Pole which also is removable and comes in sections (and a case). Very similar to the PS Super Pole. The main difference I saw was that the PS pole had large plates on the top and base to provide a more secure fit. When you add in the cost of the case, the two poles are similar in price. The PS pole also allows for additional extensions, so you can use it in rooms with a wide variety of ceiling heights.
When the pole first came down on me, I must not have tightened it enough. I reinstalled it and it is now sturdy enough to hold me during any tricks I've tried. Only advice I have is to make sure it is really sturdy before doing inverts (or have a spotter available).
It is heavy. I'd say about 25 pounds? It is very easy to assemble so it shouldn't be a problem for you to take down and put up daily. I made small tape marks on my ceiling and floor so I know exactly where to place the pole without having to use the studfinder each time. My ceiling has a slight accoustical texture on it, and the pole did not damage it or make any marks.
The complete time from shipping to delivery was just over one month. If you order from PS, I would call and talk with Laurie first and ask her how long it will realistically take. I was orginally told less than 2 weeks, so I was obviously pissed that it took twice as long. Hopefully they have a more built up stock now and it won't take as long for new orders. When I called Lil Mynx, they said it would be about 10 days.
Hope this helps,
Kat

I dont' know if this will be deleted or not, but if you have a problem with a company in the US, you can always complain to the Better Businmess Bureau, your state Attorney General and their state Attorney General.

It doesn't matter if you live outside of the country. It matters where they are doing business. It they are in Georgia, you report them to the Georgia Attorney General and the Georgia BBB.

Well I am pleased to report that the PS super pole arrived at my door yesterday afternoon.
I placed the order on July 14th and was told at the time to expect delivery within 2-3 weeks. There was a slight delay, but Laurie kept me well informed with several PM's on the status of my order throughout the process so I still feel that I was well taken care of. She even sent me a PM yesterday morning to expect delivery that afternoon, and sure enough it was at my door when I got home.
I am still awaiting the carrying case, but again I was told that was likely to be expected.
Haven't yet had the chance to set it up and let my friend try it out, but I'll be sure to give a review as soon as possible. I can certainly say that just from the weight and feel of the pole, it appears to be very solid and looks to be very sturdy even though it's still in the box.
Hopefully we'll have a chance to give it a try this weekend.

Verfolgung, I can't wait to hear your review of the pole! I love the pole, and have been using it daily (actually just got off a 40 minute twirl around it). I am getting much better at pole tricks, and it makes for a great workout too.
The only problem I've had is that neither my husband nor I can get the two long pole pieces unscrewed now. I'll have to have one of our stronger guy friends come over to try to get them apart. Let me know if you have the same problem...

I haven't had the chance to set up my pole yet, but plan on doing so this weekend. Will let you know as soon as my friend has any feedback. :)
As far as getting the two poles apart, I haven't yet set mine up. However, you may want to looking into buying a "rubber wrench" (aka "rubber strap wrench" or "rubber grip wrench"). Here are a few links to show what I'm talking about....
http://www.storeshop.com/grip-wrench.html
http://www.toolprice.com/product/6996E
http://www.tacticalinc.com/sup/supstrap-1.html
http://www.igadgets.com/gw.html
http://www.autobarn.net/all260194.html
You should be able to pick them up at a Home Depot or Lowe's in your area or a plumbing supply store. The great thing about the rubber wrench is that it will give you extra grip and leverage on the pole without leaving any scratch marks or grip marks like a traditional metal wrench would. You may even want to pick up two so you can apply force in opposite directions on both pieces of the pole at once.
Best of luck!

Verfolgung, thanks for the tip. I bought two of the rubber wrenches, but still didn't have any luck getting them apart.
I called PS today and spoke with Laurie and Keith. I explained the problem and they suggested using a lubricant like WD-40 on the pole threads if I would be taking it down alot. Keith also suggested cleaning the threads with a brush before putting it away, since dirt/dust/lint can get caught in the threads and cause them to lock up.
I have to say, I am very happy with their customer service lately. When I told them the problem, they offered to ship out new pieces to replace the old ones. They are also sending packing materials and shipping slips so the postage will be paid. I didn't even ask for a replacement, I just asked what ideas they had to get the pole apart.
The only suggestion I would offer to those thinking about buying portable poles, is to clean and lubricate the threads after each use. I'm assuming this would apply to the Lil Mynx Professional poles as well.
Thanks, Kat

Great to hear that it seems they are doing their best to take care of you.
You may also want to try teflon tape. You can wrap it around the threads and it will help to lubricate them hopefully making it easier to screw and unscrew, and may not be as messy as constantly spraying WD-40 or using a greese.
Best of luck!

I have only removed 2 posts out of many that are on my forums about PS. One was a typical ‘same old’ string of expletives which offered nothing of any relevance and was the other was titled “lets start a hate campaign thread for a laugh” started by someone who hasn’t even got a PS product which in my opinion discredits anyone’s posts about genuine grievances.

FINALLY GOT TO TRY IT OUT!!!
Sorry for the delay in posting the review of the Platinum Stages Super Pole.
Unfortunately when I first got the pole my friend had recently injured herself and had to refrain from pole tricks for a little while. Also, we actually bought the pole as a housewarming gift for a friend.
Well last week we were finally able to set it up over our friend's new apartment.
IT WAS AWSOME!!!
It took a little bit to put together mostly because we were trying to figure out which pieces to use in order to fit her ceiling height. I ordered the extension kit, so we had several options to choose from to customize the pole from 8' up to 17'.
Once the pole was put together the friction floor plates just slipped on and the tightening mechanism is a simple bolt and lock nut.
Put together, the pole is smooth to the touch, without any gaps or seems where the pole sections meet each other.
The two ladies were able to do tons of tricks on the pole, and never once felt any slip. They also had fun with the spinning feature.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Okay, some accessories you may want to pick up to go along with your pole....
1) A stud finder - to find the ceiling joists
2) a leveler - to make sure the pole is strait up and down and not on a tilt
3) Rubber grip wrenches (set of 2) - to help grip the smooth surface without leaving any scratches (see post above)
4) Teflon tape - to help lubricate the threads without using any greese (see post above)
5) A good sturdy screwdriver to use with the tightening bolt
---------------------------------------------------------------------
How it stacks up to the Lil Mynx Super Pole......
Earlier this year I purchased a Lil Mynx Pro Pole for my friend's b-day, and she's had a blast on it ever since. We purchased the Platinum Stages Pro Pole as a house warming gift for another friend, so we've now been able to give both poles a spin.
Here are some of our impressions in comparing both pole systems:
1) The Platinum Stages pole is sturdier when up. The wider and heavier floor and ceiling plates really provide a sense of security when on the pole. The Platinum Stages pole does not have the option of using a ceiling bolt. It only has the friction plates, but we soon realized that with the plates there was no need for a ceiling bolt. Both my friends really felt they could be more aggressive with their tricks on the Platinum Stages pole.
2) The Platinum Stages system is heavier. Although this gives the pole a more secure feeling when it's up, this is something people may want to consider if they are truely traveling with it, and will be putting it up and down in different places on a regular basis.
3) Case: The Lil Mynx case was dissapointing. A simple plastic case with some foam lining. Tends to warp and twist. Not very impressed with it. I'd almost suggest not to spend the extra money for the case and get one elsewhere. I have not received the Platinum Stages case yet, but will let you know.
4) The Platinum Stages Super Pole has a spinning feature which the Lil Mynx Pro Pole does not.
-------------------------------------------------------
Well those are my thoughts based on input from two dancers who got to try out both pole systems.
Feel free to post if you have any other questions. Thanks.

After flicking through this thread I have to say only one thing regarding Platinum stages apparently not replying to certain posts in this thread. As a compnay director myself do you really think I trawl through every forum on the internet related to my my industry regarding my company for issues, for a small or medium company that would require extra staff with potentially no return for the small market. As a forum user please don't be so naive!

So how are you all with the PS removable pole liking it still? I have a lil mynx pole and love it but I moved and my ceilings are a little too high for it unless they offer some sort of modification for it. It was VERY sturdy. In fact, my boyfriend who is a little over 200 pounds flipped upside down on it and a friend of mine who is about 300 pounds grabbed onto it but it did start to shift under his weight. However, it's got a warning about only up to 200 pounds on it. I have trouble even putting it up and down because it's so difficult to get to compress. So if I can't make it longer than 10' I need a different pole and I'm weighing my options here. I rent so I can't do anything to damage my apartment. Plus, I live in an older building so I'm scared a little about hearing that the ceiling creaked under the weight of the PS pole because I don't want to break my ceiling or my floor.

I am looking at poles right now. My man said he's tempted to just look into an actual brass one, but I want to take them to parties and lessons.
BTW, I told him about some of yours falling down and he mentioned that you have to be careful because houses stretch and shrink during the day (?), but that means your pole can be set in the early morning but become gradually looser by the time you want to practice or entertain, so be careful and double check everything just before you start.

Ok, here is my two cents about PS super pole! Promise this is not all negative! ;)
My husband and I decided to purchase the pole for my christmas gift this past year. We did not get everything until January of 2006. Along with that we also had problems with damaged pieces of product. We had to send them back and wait for replacement. All in all, the process of the order and the costumer sevice was not top notch, but the pole itself once installed properly is really great.
We have a 12 foot vaulted ceiling in the room we installed our pole in so this took some patience and a really big ladder!! :D Also, we also ordered an extra plate (total of three plates). This way we could install a bolt through one plate and create a permanent ceiling mount for the vaulted ceiling for extra protection. (Our own personal adjustment) We can still disasemble the pole and put it away, we just have a permanent ceiling mount. We still have an additional ceiling mount that we can use if we want to take the pole into another room. We also set the pole up in a room with 8 foot ceilings and no permenant bolt through the ceiling plate and it seemed to work fine. I have not learned any inverted tricks yet so i have not tried any thing really complicated on the pole while it has been installed in either room. I am learning though...so if I have any problems in the future as my sills ;) increase, I will let ya'll know!!
Now that it is up I really enjoy it. It is very sturdy and does not budge. I hope this info helps any one who is consedering buying the pole!!
To PS : Your product is great once it is installed, so I have partial praise for your company. I do tell all my customers at work about it..... I just think if you would take a little more time on the customer service I think your business would have rave reviews. ;D
Thanks Everyone

I've been lurking here forever and a day and just wanted to add my 2 cents about the Platinum Stages Super Pole (removeable).
I must say despite all the negative feedback I've read about them, my experience with them was FANTASTIC!!! I'm really happy I decided to form my opinion about them by giving them a shot. Now I know it always does'nt turn out this way but, they seemed to really improve on their customer service. I ordered the pole on Monday afternoon and received it this morning. Their communication was on point and I received the pole well package, the correct size and with all the parts. I can't say much for the assembly of it because that was my hubby's job (wrenches and I don't mix. never have, never will :-\ ) but it seemed easy enough. All in all I would recommend them to anyone. They really came through.
It's a shame quite a few people had to have terrible experiences in order for them to rethink they way they do business.
Thanks!!

I have a few issues I'm tryna figure out about PS's website and business workings.
(1) Everytime I click on Poles (far left column), then click on either of the three types of poles (spinning, stationary, and removable), the next page is always gibberish! It'll be an entire page of squares and odd symbols and shit. What the fuck? I mean every single time? I'll close the window, reopen internet explorer, go to the PS website and try again-- to no avail. I'll close the window and try again the next day, same thing. But if I'm on the main page, then click on any of the groups of pole, then it's all gravy. ??
(2) What in the FUCK is up with their order policy? The first paragraph says:
"You may return your custom Platinum Stage for any reason within 7 days of receiving it for a refund of the purchase price less a 10% restocking fee. All returned stages must be unused and in original condition. -->Platinum Stages reserves the right to cancel orders for any reason and at anytime.<-- -->WE DO NOT GUARANTEE ANY DELIVERY TIME BUT WILL DO OUR BEST TO SHIP QUICKLY.<-- Platinum Stages is not responsible for any consequential losses due to non shipment or damaged packages, however we will replace any damaged parts at our expense."
OMFG please take note of the two sentences I put arrows next to. They reserve the right to cancel orders for ANY REASON AND AT ANY TIME ??? What the hell kinda security is that for the customer?
And they don't guarantee a delivery time? Damn. Can't even guarantee we'll receive the pole this year? But wait a minute, there is an option to get guaranteed 72 hr shipping on stage and pole when you go to checkout ?
Another thing that it says in their order policy is "NO RETURNS WILL BE ACCEPTED UNLESS PRE AUTHORIZED BY PLATINUM STAGES."
Ok, so that means that they can say no to a legit refund request by us? I mean, if they can cancel an order for any reason at any time, I'm sure that they also can pick and choose which refund request they will honor as well. What company does business like that.
Shit I understand when you have an 'at will' job, but to have an 'at will' company to do business with ??
It's a damn shame too cuz they seem to be the only company that has just the pole that I'm looking for. I have standard 8 ft ceilings, but also have a 12 ft vaulted ceiling. What I want is a multi piece pole, add some extensions for if I choose to move the pole and climb higher and such, and a vaulted ceiling piece I can add to the order as well. And I'm wondering if the price has gone down since everyone here has last checked. I straight put together the PS super pole in stainless steel, with 36 in extension, vaulted ceiling adapter, shipping of $50 and the total would be $438.95.
Lil Mynx's website and info is aiight. Too bad they don't have a vaulted ceiling piece or extensions to add to the two piece Pro pole. Shit and the total come to $480 with a $30 s&h charge (but there's a site that sells lil mynx poles for the same price and no s&h charge).
Not sure if I should risk bullshit from PS, or get less than I want from Lil Mynx.

I have just ordered the Platinum Stages Super Pole. I ordered last Monday (a week today) and was told it would take about 10 days to arrive. I live in Canada.
I will post a review of the pole when I have it and let you know if there are any issues with customer service or delayed receipt of the pole etc.
What I am wondering is if anyone has had issues with the pole falling? I'm a little confused when reading through all these posts. I know that there were pole falling issues with PS Poles last year or so, but have they addressed the cause? Are the new super poles better? Or are they the same.
The reason I ask is because I organized an event last week and one of our sponsors was a pole dance studio owned by a former dancer. She did not recommend the PS poles at all and highly recommended lil mynx. She said that PS poles fall. Well, I'd already ordered mine so I was a little worried. She said that the problem was using them with carpeted flooring because they aren't tension poles, so when the carpet settles a bit, the pole can come loose.
She was using a PS pole at the event (but not on carpet), and said it was easy to put together and all but she wouldn't use them on carpet.
Well, lo and behold, after about 3 hours of people swinging around that pole, IT FELL!
I had nightmares all night because I ordered from the same company. I don't know if the pole she had was a recent purchase or an older model. It rotated or stayed fixed with a pin. But I plan to do pole dancing parties and such for extra cash and I'm freaked out now about one of my clients getting hurt.
Any comments?

I was told I'd receive the pole in 7 to 10 days. Yesterday was 10 business days so i called to check the status of my order. They hadn't even sent it yet and when the woman looked up my address she said it was a good thing I'd called because they were going to send it to Ontario. I live in BC. Anyhow, I'm hoping that when I receive it, it is in good shape and works great.

You're supposed to check them and re-tighten or re-align if necessary every 30 minutes or so. After 3 hours of people swinging on it, ANY pole could fall down if it's not permanently mounted.

Hey Annie....I have had my pole now for a month or so!
I teach regularily...and I have NEVER had a problem with falling down. I have never used it on carpet...only on hardwood or lino.
You must tighten the pole every hour if used consistently! I teach 2 hr classes and tighten at the water break (1 hr). Make sure you have a small level with you when you set up, I found that if the pole is not set completely level it will loosen in less than an hour.
I ordered off ebay, from PS...I received the pole in 9 days! I had NO problems with CS or delivery. They send FedEx, so you will receive a bill from them for the duty to clear customs!

Hi Alena and Scarlett,
I finally joined Stripperweb, lol! The Naked Truth already takes up enough of my time that I probably shouldn't be finding another forum to become addicted too. But I took everyone's advice to look up info on poles in here. That makes sense about the poles having to be tightened. I must say, we pulled the pin to make the pole rotating just for me and it was AWESOME! It will probably take awhile for me to get used to the spinning because I felt nauseous and dizzy after I used it each time, but it was FUN! I'm so excited to start my business but waiting for the pole is a pain. Now they say I should have it by next Friday. That will have been 3 weeks if I finally receive it by then. Damn, I wish I would have checked out ebay first.

I bought a PS removable pole for Christmas last year. It's great and I do all kinds of inverted tricks on it and never had a problem. The only problem I have is that I cannot get it to dismantle completely, so the huge carry case I bought with it is obsolete. I use it on carpet and I have to say, I like it a lot, just wish I could break it down. I used to do parties with a g/f of mine and it was a pain in the ass, and not so discrete when loading it into a truck bed, lol. Yes, I agree, if you are not used to spinning poles, it will make you woozy. I usually keep the pin in mine. Also, I teach classes so it comes in handy vs teaching at the club. No complaints here... Hope you enjoy your new pole!

Thanks Krystal! Good to know. I will attempt to avoid the dismantling problem if I can. I don't own a truck. lol

krystal...i have the multi piece also and yes, it can be a pain sometimes to take apart..here are some tips...
first..get a cloth diaper and throuroghly clean out the threads before putting it together..use just regular rubbing alcohol...use your fingernail to push the diaper in the threads..start at the bottom and turn the pole while your nail is pushing into the threads...you'd be suprised at what comes off of it. this this to both male and female ends. (you need to do this every 4 or so times you take it apart)
then...put lots of oil on both sets of threads (mail and female) turning the pole so the oil runs into all of the threads, then be careful not to let any dirt/fabric threads into it.
to take it apart, you MUST get a pair of these... http://www.cumminstools.com/prodimg/5239.jpg they will be your best friend in taking these apart!! lol they are called either grip wrenches or rubber pipe wrenches. you can get them at lowes/home depot and probably sears....do NOT get cheap ones though...pay a minimum of $20 for a pair or they will break....i keep mine in my case!

Thank you for the advice! If I ever get it apart I will be sure to clean and oil it thouroughly. It's funny that you reccomended those wrenches cos my husband and I broke two of them trying to get it apart. There's got to be a better way....
Krystal
PS. They were probably the cheap ones though. Time to go invest in some quality ones...

Is it hard to keep the oil from getting all over the pole? (And thanks for the detailed advice!)

don't worry about getting the oil on the pole. once it's together, just clean it off with rubbing alcohol and you're good to go!
krystal..yes you MUST invest in a very good quality wrench. cheap ones will break. I think the really good ones are like $40-$50 so look for those.

If you are having problems getting it apart, try putting a bag of ice on the "male" side of the joint. You'll make it shrink slightly. You can also try heating up the other side with some hot water. Also giving it a shock can loosen it.

The only problem I have is that I cannot get it to dismantle completely, so the huge carry case I bought with it is obsolete.
I have a super pole and have the same problem. I had no problem with it being unstable and I inverted and did all kinds of things on it. But when I tried to take it apart the two biggest pieces won't come apart. I have the rubber grip wrenches and I had my very strong ex try to do it, not me. He works for a furniture company and is going to take it with him to work and either put it on a piece of equipment to try to get them apart or try to get another big strong dude to help him. I can tell you that if he can't get them apart there is no way any woman could unless she's some hugh body builder. It's pretty impossible. I know I should have oiled the pieces when I put it up but I forgot. I'll do it if I ever get them apart.
other than that I love my ps super pole. I haven't had it up for a while but am going to put it up as soon as I move and am so excited.
