Hey, that's why I got into porn and stripping. I figured that if I had to be "prostituting" myself at some shitty minimum wage job, I might as well have fun and make a lot of money.

If you're dumb enough to go buy your shit from the street corner or get free drugs from people you don't know you got what's coming to you.
Actually, ADDICTION is a bitch.

1. If prostitution was made legal... there could be programs for veterans to mentor young girls who may be interested in this type of work.( This could decrease the use of girls ,who may be taking drugs because the job is too hard without drugs)

Not sure I agree that legalizing prostitution is really the simplest answer to drug abuse by aggravated hookers or the only way to avail counseling to vulnerable parties, lawful or not. Further, I suspect that such a proposition might be a bit of a leap from one cause to another effect.

Needle-swap programs do not depend on the legalization of heroin, and rehab clinics are not founded on the principle that they be staffed by addicts and that drugs be legalized. (While the latter operates with the expectation that patients are trying to escape the lifestyle, they also teach how to cope with the condition of being an addict, both without advocating addiction.)

A community outreach program would be just as effective and, contrary to what you indicate in the above, does exist in many communities. I'm all for female empowerment, community health, and numerous "questionable" freedoms, but am not jumping to assert that legalizing prostitution is the next social leap that should be taken and I think it might be irresponsible to stretch the effects of regulating that industry to include definite mental health benefits. Perhaps if pimps begin to offer health insurance or OSHA steps in to evaluate the OTJ hazards of prostitution, but... ;)

While detaching some of the stigma associated with the industry would make women more likely to come forward and seek information, it doesn't stand to reason that, in the absence of such legalization, street-wise girls aren't already getting a clue or being made aware that running off with a stranger while wasted isn't a good idea. I'm not a hooker and haven't gotten any mentorship from one, but know better than that...

Yes, we all know better.
There by the grace of God go I.
Been there and done that.
What the hell am I saying?
Didn't know nothing back then.
Are you supposed to know?

Cain, Cain, where is your brother?
I don't know, Lord. Am I my brother's keeper?

They know it is dangerous. They just don't care. Bliss is a "date" away and then off to the crack pipe for 20 hours of zoning out.

I agree with Nina - we have no idea.

I do know that when I was a teenager and doing similarly stupid things it was because I was a fucked up homeless kid, not because I was a "problem child."

Minors who don't have access to work permits (need a parents signature) are the ones who need to work the most. And what other option do they have in our culture but the sex industry?

I am so pissed off about this article.

What probably happened here is that the girl, who was most likely scared shitless out of her mind to be prostituting herself, ODed on coke, which was most likely given to her by the customer she went to visit.

When someone ODs on coke, they are not, like instantly dead. It takes someone a while to die from an OD, rare circumstances aside.

I can only imagine that the guy she was with saw her OD, freaked out, didn't take her to the hospital, and as a result, she died.

Her friends were probably more like her "pimps" and he called them to pick her up after she was dead.

And they dumped her in the woods.

Anyone who would see someone OD and NOT take them to the hospital should be taken out to the woods and shot.

Seriously. All these people would have had to have done was haul ass to the ER and this girl would probably be alive today.

As a note to anyone, even if you have been taking drugs, you CAN NOT be arressted for taking an OD victim to the hospital. If you are paranoid about this, then simply drop the person off outside the door to the ER and drive away. Again, no one can bust you for doing this. Once drugs are in someone's system, you can not be charged with possession like you would be if you had the drugs in your hand. Make sense?

If anyone suspects that someone has OD-ed, or even if someone that you are with is just "Way too high " please take them to the ER.

I hate the word whore, it implys something so horrible, but in reality it's ultimatly American.

It's a great word when not used to refer to prostitution, which in my opinion is the wrong use for it anyway. Have fun with it:

"You are such a Tivo-whore. Stop that shit before I have an intervention on your ass."
"My cat is such a total whore for fried chicken it's embarassing."
"Bitch, you turned me into a threadcount-whore. What's next, show tunes?"
"You're all a bunch of stripperweb-whores and you know it, but at least you're not myspace-whores."

Americans are whores. And fools. Here in Los Angeles we embrace these concepts.

edit: While we're at it, let's reclaim a few other slurs back from the haters and bigots. Spic, wetback, kike, negro, and especially nigger need to be stripped of their power to project hate. Best way to do it is for them to be used in the most endearing way possible openly. Let's add messican to the list. Throw in cracker and white boy. When a black friend of mine called me "nigger" in frustration but jest, I got it.

Oh yeah. IMO, VegasBebe Is dead on. I 100% agree with every word. If a person has a life threatening asthma attack after eating shellfish and bystanders do nothing, THEY are at fault.

Prostitution SHOULD be legal. In the one place in the U.S. that it is, things go very well.

*groan* Unless you actually work as a prostitute you won't know if it is actually working or not will you? Just wanted to point that out.

Also.. there is a BIG difference between decriminalisation of prostitution and legalisation of prostitution. Decriminalisation is the way to go not legalisation - any prostitute worth her salt will back me up on this for many reasons.

I'm all for the decriminialisation of prostitution... not so hot for legalising it.
