That is really messed up:( I'm not a victim of Katrina, however I have aquaitances, and my husband's company has an office there in which there was 1/2 million in computer equipment. I know how stressful it is for these poor people. Also, my sister had to evacuate her new house last year due to a hurricane. She's OK and her house is still standing, but I was really worried.
Hopefully, you will never have to witness a natural disaster.

Uh, if I walk into a club and all the girls are better looking than me, I know I probably don't fit in there. We've all got eyes and we all know the score in this business.
When I walked into the club I'm at now, I thought that all of the girls were 100 times better looking than I am. Hell, I still think so. Does that stop me from trying? Nope. Am I making money? Yes. Is what I see when I compare myself to others exactly what the cutsomers and/or other dancers see? Most likely not. We really have no idea what this girl Heaven is talking about looks like. We dont know what she thinks she looks like, or what the customers think she looks like... only what Heaven thinks they look like.
Ugly dont sell period in this industry, unless she has no teeth and can suck a mean dick in the VIP.
No offense intended, but YOU can tell an ugly/fat girl alllllllll day long she can be a stripper to be webPC,but in reality, she just freekin cant.(at least not for long)
You can,she cant, thats life for ANY performer for the general public.
If the "act"is based on looks(like ours is in this VISUAL industry that we be in)then its the foundation of the act and no amount of pc bullshit is going to change that.
I understand its hard for an entertainer to hear this, and again,i mean no offense by it(to the ugly, fat, midgets,or amputees),but this isnt middle school kick ball where everyone gets to play on a team, this is business and only the strong survive.
yes it would be "Nice"if they opened a club where ugly girls, fat chics, midgets, and amputee's could work and make a productive living, but they just dont exist,at least not that i have seen.
Funny that... I've worked with a few girls who were very less than the "standard" that folks are chattering about around here... and they did well. Was it in some Elitist club? No, but it was in clubs with a mix of girls from 5's all the way up to 10's. Did the "ugly" girls make livable money? Yup. They had rather decent followings customer-wise too. Did they ruin my money? No. Not at all.

wow. i'm not trying to be mean, but honestly try and think less about yourself. the world is not ending because some poor girl started working at your club, and it's not the end of your club either. i mean.. not only did this girl probably lose everything she has, but now she has someone calling her ugly and being pissed off because she came to work there. that could be you. besides, the person who's pocket will most be hurt is hers. i doubt it will have much effect on you at all. in fact, it probably says good things about your management that they cared enough to give her a chance.

Big Green, you must not read a lot of my posts. I understand it ALL. I understand men bette than women, in fact. I was making a point about beauty being in the eye of the beholder.

I just have to say that personality goes a long way. I've worked with some girls who were not "up to standards" but who had great personalities. They did very well. Whether WE think they should or should not be working is irrelevant. The relevant point is: are they making money and do they have customers that want them to dance? If it's yes, then everything else is simply moot.

I think we've all worked with Barbie-looking ladies that had the personality of clams. Conversely, we've worked with ladies that didn't look like Barbies that banked due to their conversational skills. It's not up to us to say who will make money and who won't. The proof is in the pudding.

Yes, I'm curious what she looks like also. Is she even still there at your club, Heaven?

well guess what. i met this girl this weekend. i work with heaven. she really wasnt ugly to me (sorry heaven) was she drop dead gorgous no. did she have a thin body and a freindly personality YES.. i was surprised that this is the girl heaven was talking about. i have danced with hudreds if not thousands of dancers that werent conventionally pretty that did VERY well. she says she's making money and likes the club.
in heavens defense she hasnt been dancing long and has only danced at one club were all the girls are pretty. in her inexperianced eyes the girl didnt fit in. to my eyes she easily could.
she is staying with family in jax and her family is all accounted for.
so now you all know!

Interesting... there's always at least 2 sides to every story, huh?

Thanks Velvet. It's always helpful to hear a second opinion.

Thanks for the update Velveta. I was starting to think that this dancer was a lazy-eyed cyclops, with missing teeth, boils all over her face, psoriasis and a prolapsed rectum.
Good to know she's just merely average-looking with a nice personality.

I don't see what the problem is. /:O
As to whether she's "ugly" or not, we'll thats for those who would spend money on her to decide.
Just what I was thinking, but couldn't come up with the words to say.

I started reading this post then got bored. They shouldn't hire a minger just because they've been involved in a catastrophe. Simple as.
wow...you guys tore me up for that one. I was just meaning that our club did something out of the ordinary that wasn't in keeping with the way things usually work there. I was actually worried about our club...by the way we have a sister club where the girls that aren't "up to par" normally are sent to work. That's the way they do it here. I can't believe someone implied I "fuck for money" just because I was worried about the caliber of the club I work for. Dude, I feel bad for what happened to the people who were caught by this hurricane, I just didn't think that it would be a reason to ignore our policies. I didn't say she didn't deserve help, or a job. Dang.
I just have to comment on this one as I myself am a survivor of this natural disaster..
WHATEVER you meant to imply by your commentary was simply uncalled for - this woman that YOU have judged as ugly should be commended for wanting to work in the first place. Some of these people were so badly injured and have lost every fucking thing that they have worked for in their whole entire lives was lost - so there's no WAY that they can even begin to think about working. I just hope that you as the self involved, smug, non caring individual that you made yourself out to be with that comment doesn't ever have to go through even a tenth of the horror that this storm and it's devastation have caused.

maybe you should try to help her out a bit. show her new ways to do her hair and makeup or take a little time to show her some new dance moves. if you really care about your club enough to be this upset that they hired her, than you should care enough to better the situation for the sake of your presious club. and i bet shes feeling lost and completly losing her confidence if shes working with people who are mean to her bc you dont think shes pretty. she could probably really use a friend.

Well said Trina.
Heaven, I saw where you were coming from with your thread but if you help the chick to fit in a little maybe you'll feel a little compassion for her.
More dancers= good for biz. Shit talking dancers= bad for biz.

DID NONE OF YOU READ MY FOLLOWUP POST? see page 4.
the girl is already a dancer. she wasnt injured. she evacuated when she was supposed to.
I read it.
Assumptions about someone caught in a circumstance not their own making really pissed me off.. what if it would of been me that walked into that club and wanted to work. I'm thin and have a pleasant, friendly personality. I am also not a beauty and am reasonably attractive. Would I be judged as ugly in the same way? Food for thought.

Yeah we got it. People were just saying to help the chick out if she doesn't think she fits in.
