Anyone else notice this is a really old thread to be bumped....just checking :)

I never do anything at work, as far as drinking/taking stimulants, etc. I have found it is easiest to work customers with a sober head, let them do the drinking instead!

(Ouch...a really bad non intentional rhyme there, please ignore)

I think that we're all forgetting that alcohol and anti-anxiety drugs are not the same thing. She was prescribed this medication for a reason and whether she needs it in her work environment or else where it doesn't matter. The only problem I see is it becoming habit forming if you use it on a continual basis... I guarantee you that you will become dependant upon it. However if you limit yourself and use your medication responsibly (which everyone should) then there is no problem with it. It is not like you are doing illegal drugs, or abusing them... You just have to keep your head on straight and make sure that you don't abuse them. If you feel in any way that you may not be able to control yourself and act responsibly with your medication then by all means don't take them!

In my opinion anti-anxiety drugs are safer than alcohol. Alcohol kills brain cells like crazy and slows down your metabolism. Alcohol is very destructive to your body and mind and can change your personality in ways that you cannot predict. Benzos simply have a calming effect when needed; they do not work if you don't need them. However I have never tried Xanax before so I really don't know the effects it would have on an individual.

Let us know what decision you've made, I'm very curious.

Take care hun! :)

Ha! i have the opposite problem. I HAVE to stay sober, otherwise I tell everyone what I really think of them. Can't make much money when you piss everyone off.

me too. 90% of the time, i stay sober at work. i only drink heavily if i'm having a completely terrible shift and have given up (which is rare), or if i'm sitting with someone i -know- i will bank on regaurdless and can relax.

I usually have a couple of drinks at work... but I worked completely sober the other night. I can't say I made a lot more money... but it was a little less fun (of course). It was also glaringly obvious how stupid some people can be! Oy!

I used to always be loaded at work when I first started dancing. For 6 months I was never sober at work. I didn't like going on stage and was always nervous on stage but the alcohol took that away which was why I always drank more more and more. I stopped dancing for about a year and a half and went back last week and didn't have any drinks and I was fine. I no longer need alcohol at work and stage feels much better sober! The only time I have a drink is when a custy offers..
