i love clarissa explains it all!!
and paige, my random substitution of y's for i's is a quirk i picked up from an online rp room a long time ago. i realise fully that it is entirely incorrect, and furthermore i don't care. though my other spelling mistakes drive me up the wall. i think i might have ocd.....
can the moderators see how many times i edit my posts? it's usually for typos and grammar mistakes.... if they can see it, they probably agree with me. :)

Paige VoW, you're both right!
From http://www.vampire-church.com/lexicon.html
Vampyre vs vampire: "Vampyre" is the older spelling of the word "vampire" used in the 17th & 18th centuries, thus "Vampyre" is used to refer to people who are really into the scene or lifestyle. The more modern "vampire" is most often used to refer to Hollywood, myth and fiction.

Actually, no. Vampyre is used by SOME lifestyle vampires and role players. That website is not the end all of defining. It's mostly for said lifestylers. The vampiric lifestle has taken many words from role playing, old languages, and fiction and muddled them together at their discretion. Nothing to take seriously for historical purposes.
Vampire comes from:
French, from German Vampir, from Serbo-Croatian vampir.
Oh, and BTW....
I just find it interesting to correct people on history when you dont correct your own spelling. LMAO.

I sang (I was drunk, really I was!) the "barbie" song at a karaoke (sp??)bar. :O
(here's the mom in me)...I love "Steve" from Blue's Clues...he's so funny! (note, this is NOT the new stupid guy, he's a fucking idiot).
I will sneak a twix any chance I get...telling myself it's only one (or two I should say) and that it's not gonna affect my figure :D
I still freak myself out thinking there is something under my bed and if I don't JUMP from about 5 ft away onto the bed, it's gonna grab me :ashamed:

Educate, and have an open mind....we all don't have to belive what everyone does, but if it's written and out there....It's a WORD with a real meaning!!!;) Eastern Europe...my friend, spells it Vampyres. ;D They are (were) the real deal, until Movies and such grabbed it...

...and just to bug Paige...hehe ;) , from the Oxford English Dictionary
vampire, n.
Also vampyre.
" 1734 Trav. three English Gent. in Harl. Misc. (1745) IV. 358 These Vampyres are supposed to be the Bodies of deceased Persons, animated by evil Spirits, which come out of the Graves, in the Night-time, suck the Blood of many of the Living, and thereby destroy them."

Ay dios mios.....
English vampire comes from German (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_language) Vampir, in turn from early Old Polish (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_language) *vąper' (where ą is a nasal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nasal_vowel) a, and both p and r' are palatalized (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palatalization)), in turn from Old Slavic *oper (with a nasal o) or Old Church Slavonic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Church_Slavonic) opiri. The Slavic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slavic_languages) word, like its cognate netopyr' ("bat"), comes from the PIE (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PIE) root for "to fly". The word Upir as a term for vampire is found for the first time in written form in 1047 in a letter to a Novgorodian prince referring to him as 'Upir Lichyj' (Wicked Vampire). Evidence suggests that an Upir was originally just a sort of psychopomp (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychopomp), a spirit which accompanies the soul of a dead person from the grave to the afterlife .

I'm a sap in re: movies. They suck me in .... and if any animal (even the computer generated ones lol ... yes.. Aslan.. ) die I will shed a tear or ten. I was hopeless with The Green Mile... after the mouse was squashed by Percy (grr!) I was lost... I cried alot during that movie. I also can't watch the Cajun get fried ever again. That scene has engrained itself in my head. :(
Also... Godzilla! I can't stand Godzilla the movie (based in NY) as I'm furious about how they bastardized Godzilla! Man in suit ! Man in suit damnit!!!!
Oh.. yeh.. I'm stuck in the 90s with my music tastes... and am trying to get a nice little retro movie collection happening: I have Ghostbusters I&II, Gremlins I and Willow. I will eventually have Gremlins II, Dark Crystal, Labryth (David Bowe lol!!), Ewoks Caravan of Courage and the other movie, Dirty Dancing, NeverEnding Story (only the original and the others suck!)... then I will be satisfied for quite awhile.
Oh yeh... let's not forget.. I have a "Interactive Stitch (http://www.hasbro.com/common/instruct/Lilo_&_Stitch_-_Aloha_Stitch%21.pdf)" (from Lilo and Stitch) and get my kicks saying "I love you" to him as he says "I love you" back. I'm so loved! ;D
Then I get addicted to BB every damn year even when I try to not watch it.. I'm on the website reading everything on it so I can stay up2date.
I'm strange and weird.. and proud of it. Okay.. so these shames aren't so secret... now. :)

I'm buying them haphazardly. If one of my movies is at a good price and I have the money, I will buy it. I don't believe in having an extensive DVD collection just a well used one ;D
Something about those movies that appeal to me now that I'm older. I guess I like how they aren't all that great in the FX department compared to these-days (a la SW Episode 3). Plus they're fun to watch how corny/bad they are sometimes.. esp. Labyrinth..

*Sigh*
I own the DVD in all formats.
I own all the VHS versions.
I also own a rare LD version signed by Peter Cullen, and Frank Welker, It's black with a white Rodimus firing up at Unicron, and in the black you see the names of all the Transformers who died in the great war.
I own 2 betamax versions
And all 4 of the soundtracks.
The original motion picture soundtrack
The Protoform Sessions <the out takes>
The Original Score <the score>
Artistic Transformations <the score played on classical piano>
I even have the audio track in my Ipod
It's really the only movie I still get a huge jump from really. I don't watch it as much as I listen to it, but man, when Prime started driving through those decepticons...and it had such great lines!
Anyways, I digress.

How could you NOT like a movie where Orson Welles provides the voice for an all powerful mechanical Planet-type being? Orson effing Welles :D
The metal band Manowar will also always be a "secret shame" for me, precisely because they were cool enough to get Orson Welles to appear on some of their songs.

My secret shame...I have a hygeine issue. Everytime I go to the store I buy shower gel/body wash, bar soap, shaving cream, razors, deodorant, shampoo/conditioner, and toothpaste. I usually pick up at least one of those, even though I have more than enough to support an army. When I shower, I clean with the bar soap, then shampoo and condition, clean with bar soap again, then wash with shower gel. I have this thing about smelling good and being clean.
And beautiful girls make me stutter. :-X And when I'm back home and everyone is at work and I have the house to myself, I put on concerts on my karaoke machine. My cats are my biggest fans. :-[

- I collect antiques
- I truly believe that I could produce women's clothing that is more comfotable, stylish and sexier than the vast majority of today's designers
- I like contemporary films, but absolutely love older films of the Cary Grant/Lauren Bacall/James Stewart/Rita Hayworth/Humphrey Bogart/Ingrid Bergman type
