Lil Boosie/ Lil Webbie - Wipe Me Down

Not my favorite song ever, but great beat and fun to dance to.

R. Kelly and Luda's "Rock Star" is the perfect sexy song for when the club is slow, but you still need a beat. Thanks for posting!!

And the Rehab remix with Jay Z is hot! Thanks!

"Make Me Better" feat Ne-Yo (the lead single I think..)

"Rock Star" feat Ludacris and Kid Rock (cool song)

Spot On!! Taco^^^^^ Also, somebody wanted an opinion on Amusement Park, its off the hook.

Well-suited for a dancer that can do the "slow and sexy" thang tough....
Definately not for someone who dances like a "Night at the Roxbury" extra.

Okay, did a little more research..

"(I ain't your) Wild Thing" by Dizzy Dee, which was one of those "response" type songs.. so I'm assuming it'd have pretty much the exact same music coupled with the opposing point of view. The track shows up on "Enter the Rap Zone Vol. 3".. which amazon.com is selling for like 16 bucks on cd.

Cant find any sound samples or mp3's tho.. so you might search it on limewire or soulseek or something. I'm trying to find something to listen to, but no luck.

"Hey Sexy Lady ... but I gotta move on" ... Is this hot? I hear this one on the radio often and never hear who sings this

The dancers keeps mentioning some new Timbaland song with Nelly Furtado that's supposed to be hot (its not the one with Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado), any ideas what it could be called?

old school, REAL non-mainstream smooth jams? here's a few:

Twinz - Round and Round
http://youtube.com/watch?v=z_tObAiSuQk

Twinz - Eastside LB (probably one of the smoothest joints circa the G funk era)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=W6fBY6R5Hto

Lil Half Dead - 12 pac of Doja (glad I copped his cd when it first came out back in the day, still one of my faves)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=va4vl6nSWos

Whoridas - Shot callin big ballin (remix) (i have the cd single, good luck finding the mp3 anywhere though)...I could probably rip it if requested

The Delinquents - Outta Control (sick ass westcoast old school joint)

Bosko feat. Cool Nutz - Bombay (good luck finding this one though, I've been searching for ages)

Black Knights - Killa Cal Lifestyle

The Last Emperor - Secret Wars (part 1 and part 2, though part 2 has the sicker beat imo)

http://youtube.com/watch?v=5SPjPGeYlMU

Cage - Agent Orange (hip hop classic, brilliant use of Clockwork Orange themesong)

http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoID=1817877541

B.U.M.S. - elevation (free my mind)

Cocoa Brovas - Super Brooklyn

I didn't see this one mentioned...

Down - Lean Like a Chulo

"Elbows up. Side to side."

I also like Lil' Mama's remix of Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend". But it is such crap that I will have to classify it as a guilty pleasure...but I can't get enough of it.

I read this thread religiously but I never post because I live in bumfuck nowhere so when I hear a song, you guys have been hearing it for 3 months. Well, NOW I got me a Satellite Radio and I get to hear the hot new shit as you guys are hearing it. I'm LOVING it.

For example, MW turned me on the the remix of Get it Shawty by Lloyd feat. Yung-Joc. Now, my station is finally starting to play it but they play the original with Lloyd himself rapping. UGH. I feel like emailing them the remix.

Me too!!! That song is sick! The bassline is a little too much for the ride though. That's with two twelves in the trunk... Most songs sound great but with this one I find myself turning the bass down 5 notches. It's like a continuing bassline throughout the whole song. :O

While I was getting a scrumptious lap dance last week the following song played. She went wild on my lap and I immediately plugged some lyrics into my phone for reference later.

It's Huey, Bow Wow, Lil Wayne, and T Pain.

T Pain goes off.

The same CD has this song by T pain called Bartender that is really hot. It also has the song I listed above by Hurricane Chris.

If you have Soulseek or Torrents do a search for "Promo Urban Club July"

Apparently every month they come out with promo songs of singles. There also is a version called "Promo Urban Radio <insert month>"

I was gonna start a thread but I figure anyone who could answer this would read this thread anyway...

I need to know what's up with "mix-tapes". I mean, I have been downloading music for years but I never got in to this. I've seen them around but I don't understand them or the references to them. Plus, all the music on them gets talked on by the DJ. I am just too anal to stand that shit...I like a pure track. Normally, I would just ignore `em..I mean, I have for years. But...witness this conversation from some of my cousins who live in the South...

Cousin 1: ...and the second sign of the apocolypse is that Lil' Wayne is the best rapper in the world.
Me: Lil' Wayne? You mean like "Fireman" Lil' Wayne?
Cousin 2: Yeah. He's the shit.
Me: Really? I hardly hear anything from him? I mean, he had some nice features...like "Make it Rain" but I don't really hear his stuff much.
Cousin 2: On the radio? No...
Cousin 1: Yeah, you aren't in to the Mix Tapes.
Me: *shaking head*
Cousin 1: The Mix Tapes are where it's at. Trust me, you go in any club in the south, Lil' Wayne comes on and the place goes crazy! Everyone knows every word and they are singin' it. Not dancin'...singin'.

So, my question is...Am I missing out? Are Mix Tapes truly the best source of hip/hop in existance? If so, how do I even begin to know where to start?

-gen

ctstriptease1
07-12-2007, 12:02 PM
GenWar, mixtapes have been the best source of hip hop for years, since '89-90 when Kid Capri invented them and going back to when Ron G was the youngest in charge and how can I ever forget about Doo Wop and the Bounce Squad. I can't even begin to tell you how many classics have been out first on mixtapes, from that Notorious B.I.G. and 2Pac freestyle to Biggie's "Real Niggas do Real Things". I wish I would've saved some of those tapes from when I was in high school, their all classics now and worth so much

50 Cent owes his entire career to mixtapes because that's where his buzz started, he had NYC on fire like no one since KRS criminal minded days (ah, the good ol' days). DipSet and D-Block also owe their popularity to mixtapes, but the new mixtapes out are nothing like the ones of yesterday

Taco Goblin
07-13-2007, 11:22 PM
Yeah, the new mixtapes seem to be mostly bad quality.. or some goober just repeating deeeeeeeeejay spasmspasmspasm over the mix. Ugh. There's still some gems to find if you've got patience (I rarely do)..

Anyway.. my newest obsessions:

Kanye West - Can't Tell Me Nothin
Kanye West ft. Daft Punk- Stronger <--- hot hot hot
India Arie - There's Hope
Ciara ft. 50 Cent - Can't Leave 'em Alone
T.I. ft. Eminem - Touchdown <--- hot hot hot
Mims - Like This
Timbaland ft. Keri Hilson - The Way I Are
(an Oldie here) Slum Village - Conant Gardens (still sweet)

Ayep.. pretty recently.. Busta had that song "Touch It" that I pretty much hated. (I usually either really love a Busta song or really hate it.. rarely in between)

I think he had Missy Elliot repeating that loop ad nauseum...
