^^The John Lennon tribute cd the Green Day cover is from is not too great. Avril Lavigne doing "Imagine"? Good lord, no.

I love this song. I love the original, too, but I prefer the timing in this one. Something about the line "There's room at the top, they're telling you still; but first you must learn how to smile as you kill." that sends a chill up my spine. That's songwriting brilliance right there.

I picked up the new Evans Blue cd. Not too shabby. It's basically more of the same, in the vein of Chevelle/Breaking Benjamin etc. I tried out a couple last night. There's a heavy cover of Tori's "Caught A Lite Sneeze".
I also picked up Job For A Cowboy, since it was $7.99. Full on balls-out death/thrash ARRRGGGH metally stuff. Quite thoroughly unplayable in the club, of course. I forgot to bring it with me to the Morrissey show on Monday night, I wanted to roll up blaring it. Things like that amuse me.
Oh, and that new Police anthology compilation double disc thingee is remastered really nicely.
I got the new Prince too, but that belongs elsewhere, I guess.

Okay. Gotta share.
I ran across this first band last year when I caught wind of a song they did that was featured on the tv show Las Vegas - "Voodoo Baby" Found out the only way to get it then was to order the whole cd,which I promptly did. I highly rec that song also. However, they've come out with a few cds since that one, and for a band that doesn't have a major label, they are doing pretty well for themselves. Anyway, gotta gets:
Hypnogaja - Here Comes The Rain Again (yes, remake, but well done, and husband is getting raves from the Mens Club when he plays it)
Hypnpogaja - Nothing Box (not on the newest album, but the one before; kicks ASS!!!!!!)
Alter Bridge - Rise Today (this one is on repeat on my iriver. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Who knew he could sing like that?? Who knew the guitarist could play like that? I sure didn't..but I haven't been paying attention to them either.) It's on the new Promo Only Modern Rock Radio cd.
I really like Sammy Hagar's new single,Open, but I don't have or want Itunes so I won't be having it until whenever it gets released generally. Go to his myspace to hear it, although the recording is shitty.
So that's about it for rock; we've been busy on the techno front mostly.
Hope these help someone.

She Wants Revenge -"This Is Forever". It sounds exactly like the last one so far. The track "True Romance" does contain a line I found hilarious for club play. "I know that you never loved me; I know that you never cared at all. Maybe just one more dance because that's as close as we're getting to a true romance."

ROFLMMFAO....Ok while I respect everybodies taste in music...It seems to me the selection is rather limited here..so I am taking upon myself to lay down some suggestions that I feel deserve to be tried out..
1.) Black Label Society - Fire it Up...[explaination of why and some tips to make it awesome at least this is what the dancer did for me when I suggested it for her.]
About 33 seconds in, after the techno noise a mellow version of the main melody comes out and cycles twice..use this time for some slow moves. After is when it comes on heavy and you can really cut loose with this..Trust me...8)
2.) Black Label Society - Concrete Jungle...Same basic setup
3.) Black Label Society - Death March...Again same basic concept..[Listen for max effect]
4.) Ozzy - Don't wanna stop
5.) Ozzy - Not going away [not so much but def. consider]
6.) Johnny Lang - Cherry Red Wine [Jazzy guitar...if not good dance musice...def. good fuckin music]
7.) Maroon 5 - Tangled and Woman....Both decent sexy grooves
8.) Seraphim Shock - Sex toy [slightly raunchy but why not]
9.) Sublime - Pawn shop[has a slow night or VIP room style groove]
10.) Cruxshadows - Dragonfly [Don't know if this is more techno, but its only for those women who don't mind dancing for like 6+ minutes]
11.) 311 - Beautiful Disaster, Creatures, Down, Hydroponic.
There you go, just a few suggestions that I thought deserved a chance..Def. check em out..They get me in the mood when girls at clubs in my city use em..Should work in other places too..
Be Cool,

Scum Of The Earth- "Sleaze Freak" --More stuff from Riggs of Rob Zombie's old band, and pretty much more of the same. The vocals are too far down in the mix for my taste on the whole cd, I don't dig the production. The songs are short, but if it was mixed better it might have a couple of playable songs. I'll give it another listen.
Puscifer - "V Is For Vagina" -- Maynard J Keenan's new band/side project thingee. If you're expecting Tool or APC, don't bother. I only got thru the first 4 songs in the car, but I was digging it. It's a complete departure, kinda sleazy, he's singing/almost rapping in a deeper voice. It's definitely more..."fun" then his other stuff. Maybe the last half of the disc is all heavy and ARRRGH and about torturous angst, but somehow I doubt it.
I heard the new Otep, too, but I don't know the title. Basically, it's Otep. Yes indeed.

first off - I wish we had more of you rock chicks at my club! 2ndly - if I ever played Lamb Of God or Cradle Of Filth @ my club - I'd be fired before the song ended. :)
That being said - there's a TON of cool club friendly rock out these days.. which is great.
If you are looking for FUN rock songs that can get a crowd going - although they are a bit old right now...
Hoobastank's - Inside Of You, Danko Jones - Forget My Name, and RA does an amazing cover of Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic. (they also have a ton of other great songs - Do You Call My Name, Rectifier from the first CD, and The Only One & Fallen Angels from the 2nd)
I was so searching through this thread to see if anyone mentioned these. If I danced (rather, if I COULD dance), it would be to these songs. And I'm still waiting to see a dancer do these songs; that girl's got all my money for the night, just because the songs kickass.

More stuff I love dancing to:
I've really been branching out in the rock I dance to since I've been at my new club. They don't play and rap/hip-hop. I never thought I'd dance to a song with lyrics like DIE MOTHERFUCKER DIE MOTHERFUCKER DIE!! But it really does make for sexy dancing, IMO.

hmm... if it's a younger crowd, is Killswitch Engage's "arms of sorrow" appropriate??? I am in LOVE with this group, and the lead singer's voice is just amazing... it's one of the only semi-ballad-like slower/rhythmic songs (where he doesn't scream) i can find by them. and yes, it would be perfect for my dancing style... i want to play this sooooo badly... is this another one of my 'better in theory' ideas? ;) :P :-\

ummm... omg.... that was played in a CLUB???? i don't mean to be insulting, and please don't take offense, but i would find that VERY hard to dance to... it's just too fast! Hard is fine, but for a harder song to work in the SC and still be sensual it has to be slower... i could listen to that in my car (although it's not the best i've heard from them... i like stuff like "holy diver" "my curse" "my last serenade" and "the end of heartache") but even with a younger crowd that'd be mighty hard to pull off.

No worries bout being insulting...the fact that it IS hard to dance to is why it and certain other songs always made money....this was on west coast in a very Xtreme sports area (snowboarders, dirtbikers, etc.) I would be more hesitant to play in an urban club setting.

I definitely dance to KSE whenever I'm allowed. "End Of Heartache," "Rose Of Sharyn," "This Is Absolution," and "Arms Of Sorrow" are the songs I'm about. A DJ in New Orleans who found out that I'm into KSE ad Renaissance Faires got major points from me for playing "Holy Diver" for me, too.
Other stuff I'm loving dancing to lately:
Lacuna Coil (I saw the earlier comments in this thread about it, but I love Karmacode)
The Misfits with Michael Graves singing, but most specifically "Scream" and "Descending Angel"
Anything by Social Distortion

I have been dancing to Mad Caddies' "Coyote" and getting the BEST response... it's totally different, has a reeeeaaallly catchy beat, and people love it! hehe I was all about Mad Caddies back in the 9th grade, when ska was uber-cool... the band changed their style a lot, and although most stuff is still not club-appropriate, this song is just perfecto.
