i have to watch it!!! oh my god....this is ridiculous, that outfit, i agree poking fun at strippers. she has no clue, she had a few ex-strippers on ANTM, and she was like"you're not going back to that lifestyle" All her models are so not womenly, for someone who is so into curves, the only one I loved was Adrienne, who i think is gorgeous, and her own person, and is totally about sex and getting naked, notice how she doens't promote the show, and other winners do? I hate Tyra's whole i was ugly as a child, yeah when you were like 12, she was a model by 16!!! who is she kidding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

i actually quit watching it after 20 minutes(i had it on but the volume lowered b/c i was just getting more and more upset). In my opinion she didn't do anything special or different. She just made it seem like it was all the male's problem for going to a strip club in the first place. Heaven forbid they come to the club to get away from a nagging wife. Oh no, it's not the woman's fault at all.
And the whole time she had this attitude like she couldn't believe that she was there. She just looked disgusted. Never gave it a chance...and that was the last time i will ever watch her show ever again. She needs to stop trying to "save us". We don't need saving. And what upset me the most was how she kept saying she thought they were normal girls and then she saw them on stage and realized that we aren't normal. BULLSHIT. grrr....sorry she just annoys the hell out of me.
So why not let her know?
http://tyrashow.warnerbros.com/contact.html
If you watch the show, and I say that because we know better than to stereo type, and we get all the facts first, then let the stupid girl know how you feel!
I'm going to try to find out when it's on here to see if i can catch it.
Not to be a stick in the mud, but you know any and all negative commentary will be tossed into the infamous file thirteen. If she's bashing an entire industry like that, whats to stop her from censoring everything that doesn't make her look wonderful?

HA I knew she would punk out! Well the show could have been a lot more negative, wasn't truely positive either but at least the 3 dancers were decent and could put together sentences.

I tried so hard to get mad at this crock, but I spent most of the show laughing at her. Especially the dramatic "I went DEEP UNDUH-CUVAH" mantra she kept repeating and the "What about "us" - the girlfriends?" like average women have never had to compete with her offering her bosoms up in a Vicky's Secret catalogue. Speaking of those catalogues, I'm so sure her and her crew were striking all those sexy, alluring, come-hither poses for women and not at all to sexually entice men.
If Tyra hates women in the sex industry, and she finds us all soooo disgusting, then why does she keep putting us on her show? She's a hypocritical b*tch and I plan on contacting her little show - not that I expect anything, but WTH, it'll make me feel better.
I'm glad that the strippers featured were able to dispel some myths and that the older girlfriend/wife was very nonchalant about her boyfriend/husband going to strip clubs. And yes, I agree - it'd be nice if she stopped trying to save people.
Off note: someone asked about her "gay cowboy" show. To answer: she did a show on "real-life 'Brokeback Mountain' stories. This diva's reign of terror must be stopped, lol.

This is EXACTLY my thought on the whole thing. She's nothing but a hypocritical twat. How many men have taken their wives'/girlfriends' VS Catalogs in the bathroom with them, or at least just swiped it and looked through it? What does she think was on their minds at the time?

Your chances of being contacted are VERY GOOD. I was contacted back in September by one of her producers. I was invited to be on Tyra's "Adult Mean Girls" show (Long story, but it turns out that my Sister turned me in to them.. Gah). I declined, mostly because I cannot stand Tyra, and I wouldn't be able to even fake liking for the hour. Unfortunately, I finally deleted the Producer's direct number from my cellphone just last week, or I'd give it to you. Might've helped to speed the process a bit. Heh. Her name is Michelle though---So chances are she'd be the one to contact ya.
I highly recommend contacting them, though. It would be kick-ass to see you up there laying that bitch out.
I didn't even watch the show today, I don't watch any of her shows. But I can only imagine the things she said about "evil strippers" and "scumbag men" who watch them dance.

What does she think was on their minds at the time?
"Gee, what lovely bras these are and wouldja look at how artistically they are posed?" ;)
Rhiannon, as much as I'd LURVE to give Tyra a verbal drop-kick in the teeth, alas, I have to keep my ID hidden, so my contacting her would be via anonymous letter. If someone is willing to BE "me" or represent the Strippers-Hate-Tyra movement, I'd be willing to do all the grunt work and let them be the STAH :D

Totally understand about the anonymity, though. That's the other reason I turned down the invitation.
So who's gonna do it? Someone step up!

I think Melonie would represent well , hell she could give her some good financial advise as well lol .. :P The show was ok I guess like Blade said it didnt seem to beat up on the industry to badly . It was good that she had some dancers on the show to answer questions about how and why they became dancers and what goes on in their heads . When I watch shows like this I just kind of ignore the hype and block out what I know to be bullshit . ( internal edit )

I found she focused a lot on negative aspects of the industry though(to get the ratings) thats what upset me is she was acting like we all needed saving. I just politly pointed out in the email I sent her that not all of us are coked out whores, not all of us fuck out customers and some of us actually enjoy what we do. I umm...worded it a lot more gracefully in the email lol. I agree Melonie would represent us well. I highly doubt i'll get a reply to my email but it felt nice to send it :D

I only caught the last 15 minutes..were there any couples on there that said "hey, we enjoy going to the sc's and have the best sex when we get home afterwards"? lol that'd be me and my hubby! I'm usually the one saying "let's go to a sc!". }:D
I do not like how she "felt sorry" for the girls and was just "so sick". She just constantly had a look of disgust on her face like there was shit on the floor or something ::)
I did notice how AWFUL she was on the pole! lol :O

i just watched i can't even belive what i saw when they showed the club it was blurry and they played some kinda of horror movie music to give it the look she wanted to have not a realistic view. I was tottatly pissed when she was talking about the house mom she acted so suprised that she was nice said she was like an auntie but then she rembeberd that she was not an auntie she took care of strippers like we are sub human. my god then she picks out the sleezied custys in the club to point and ask them things in such a way there answers would only point to the idea she wants to potray. I did feel kida of sorry for the girl with the boyfriend but thats becuse her man is a jerk not becuse of strip clubs. And then the finnaly tyra goes on stage she chickend out i was so baffled. I mean what the fuck i can't even belive well now we can all be proud we have more guts then the almighty tyra banks. :) and forthermore i don't belive clubs couse relinships problems those men would find other ways to be dicks to tere women if clubs wern't around a dick head is a dick out with or with out me to dance on his lap.

I watched it, too. I think she could have made a stronger statement and a much better testimonial about what it felt like to be a stripper, if she would have actually gone ON the stage. Would she actually have had to totally strip? At least she would have a better idea of what it was like!

I could give 2 fucks about what Tyra Banks thinks of strippers, but most girls first time getting up with that pole.... they are scared and ready to back out but the reality is they can't... cuz it looks worse to chicken out then it does to get your ass up there and do something, anything. Maybe if she'd have actually had the nerve to at least get down to a thong she wouldn't have had such negativity about it.... hell, she probably still would.... don't you know she never does nudes, not even showing any nip, so I figured she'd have had some way out of actually doing any real stripping. LAME.

i doubt she even had any intention of going up in the first place. The chickening out was probably just for "dramatic effect" kwim?

Let's see her go to a male strip club. And get her drunk.
Why the hell did she uglify herself?

At Least she did have real strippers on there telling it how it really is in the industry. But as for TYRA trying to go up on stage and dance, (lol;D) yea, that was all a game. I don't think she was going to actually do it. And when she was just standing there inside of the club, she acted as if she was in a SHIT HOLE or something.Tyra had the most disgusting look on her face. LOL she'll be ok though!!!!!!;)

She can't get up on stage but she doesn't have a problem struting down a runway half naked or posing half naked. She's a very good actress. Did you see that look of disgust!!
I think she quit modeling cause she's gaining weight that would explain not wanting to go on stage.
Have you seen America's Next Top Model? They always have a challenge to see if the girls will get nekkid...

HELL NO  I wouldn't want her representing me in any manner wether it be as an entertainer, a woman or even human being.
As for Tyra's show , I have seen worse and I expected worse as well.
I think she quit modeling cause she's gaining weight that would explain not wanting to go on stage.
I think you correct but I don't hold that against her. However I do think it hypocritical that she posed for Vicky Secret but has a problem with even just stage dancing.
I wonder if she feels the same way about the PussyCat Doll's show ?

OOOOOOOOO....I can't wait to watch this steaming pile of shit called a show. I recorded it...I'll watch it tonight. She's an hypocritical moron.
I'll be writing the show. But staying anonymous because my bf has worked with the executive producer and a few others......don't wanna cause any issues for him. But I will voice my opinion...this attitude of hers and others just gets me angry. She prances around a club for a few hours and she knows the industry inside and out.....NOT!
Let's see her "expose" the nasty side of modeling....oh wait she can't because that's how she made her bread and butter.......she's a snob. She should go save the girls that are anorexic because they want to be supermodels......

ok, i havent seen the show, nor did i even know tyra had her own show (never seen it down here in aussie) but....
does anyone here even know this woman? personally, as in spent a few months getting to know her? i highly doubt it. yet here you all are bitching about how she is a bitch and double standerds etc. how do you know shes not putting on an act for money just like we do every night we walk into the sc to work?!
she is running a business. a business therefore needs to profit. and if the mainstream target audience wants to see the negative side of strippers, shes gonna show that.thats gets ratings. that gets industry credits.
i dont think she needs to be bagged for her show. she might be a nice person.and to the person who claimed she "graduated from model school" or some shit- we think we have it bad in this industry,id much rather be a stripper then a high fashion model. i dont think shes an idiot- shes a melonie of the catwalk.
some of you need to pull your heads out of your ass and stop finger pointing anyone who is mildly aganist your occupation.they have their opinions of the industry,we have ours. maybe we need this negative opinion in order for the clubs to survive (imagine if it was socially acceptable, guys would hardly get a kick out of the "naughtness" of it all)
meh.
just get over yourselves really.

I am back... just in time for his post too...great points here were made. Why not any couples who actually enjoy the strip clubs?... and YES she would probably not attempt to do this type of gig for models and the "dark side." This gets me mad because we have more education to conduct a valid research study on dancers than she does. This gets me very very very mad. Is she claiming this is her first time in a strip club? I bet she has been in one back in her younger days... probably always wondered about this. I do not mind this type of stuff if it is both the positve and negative that is equally researched and portrayed correctly... just like any other profession. Actually, this has just made my passion stronger in wanting to prove people wrong and be the all around intelligent, well- rounded, independant woman and STRIPPER that I am. I am sick of backing down and hiding my interests and am becoming more proud as time goes on. I have just took my first communication research course and plan to take alot more... I then would love to shed more light on this issue...and blow commercialized canned progams/ideas like this out of the water! This board alone is more than enough to do it too. Although i may get disgusted at times when i am at work and see dancers/customers who make the whole look bad... stripper web always brightens up my perspective and helps me stay well grounded and focused, and proud of this part of my life. I do not know who all these ladies are who are writing in... but i can guarantee they secretly bash models like Tyra aslong with strippers... anything they are intimidated by. I would think Tyra would be on our side more... or be on equal sides for woman as a whole... i missed the actual show though because of class so i am not sure exactly how she portayed this all... but from this feedback i am mad. I will not forget about the men either... were there any men portrayed at all in a positive way? It really sucks when i always have to justify that i do not spend ALL night dealing with the bad guys. We all deserve to be portrayed equally and fairly.. men and women. What cruds!

Ugh, the video interview of her on cnn.com about this is DISGUSTING.
I've seen the show and am offended by how she belittled the dancers on her show and the prostitutes from the Bunny Ranch. She excused the behavior's of men who go to stripclubs as being horny and can't help it, but she literally turned her nose up at the women who work in stripclubs and refused to accept how they could sell their bodies for money. Tyra described feeling "icky" at the stripclub and carried the whole show with this air of disgust about the environment and the women who worked there.
One of the women on the show articulately spoke of her experience as a single mother and how dancing has helped her get her life on track and Tyra couldn't understand how she could be proud of her accomplishments from selling her body and that she couldn't possibly be a good role model for her kids as a stripper. When Tyra asked the girls the money question, you should have seen the look on her face (close your mouth sweetie).
Tyra even expressed her disgust of a past boyfriend who frequented stripclubs behing her back, she kept asking why men do this and said that she knew women that could probably drop it like it's hot much better than any stripper.
Tyra's close-minded, prejudice, and biased view of stripclubs and dancers was really disappointing to watch. She was very judgmental and stood on this pedestal demeaning the industry and even suggested how something must be wrong with these women for wanting to be treated like pieces of meat. Tyra expressed feeling sad for the women there and that the longer she stayed at the stripclub the more numb she felt and that she was afraid and didn't want to be apart of this sex world anymore. They even showed her refusing to dance onstage when she was deep undercover as the new girl Chanel.
It was humorous at best, but if the story is going to be told, tell the whole story and get it as close to the truth as possible. Tyra failed to do any of these and I've lost respect for her as a result!

The fakeness of the show irritated me the most. She said that new dancers don't get to start alone at first, so they are paired with another dancer until they know what to do. (Yeah right)
Then she's standing there in full ugly clothing while her "mentor" is giving a lap dance, asking the customer questions about what's going on. So he's paying her for a lapdance with some crazy looking bitch asking irritating questions? Okay. Not to mention there are cameras filming the whole ordeal. Are we supposed to believe this is really "undercover"?

Yea ummm, aren't camera's not allowed in strip clubs? Like they'd ever get through the door like that! It was totally set up. Man, I wish I'd have been able to catch the show. :(
Tyra is hot enough to get away with anything she wants.

i like how during the show there is a victoria's secret commercial, with a model wearing only bra and panties, sashaying down a runway with hair blowing all around and looking at the camera with fuck-me eyes, and then they show her dancing around (in underwear and heels) with back arched and writhing all around...i'm sorry but the only thing missing is a crowd of men with dollar bills in hand.
i guess what tyra and all those women mean is that it's fine to be objectified and to arouse men for pay, as long as the pay comes in a big fat check and as long as millions and millions of people around the world are watching, and not when they are actually watching you live and you are not coming in contact with them?
i think it was mentioned before, but she is ignoring the fact that plenty of men jerk off to her in victoria's secret mags and ads.
in that cnn interview, oh my gawd. "i had to uh...get up on the pole...sorry i'm trying to say it as professionally as i can" and the lady interviewing her says, "haw haw haw...yes there's no tasteful way to put it!" well just imagine it's one of your photoshoots, and a tiny fraction of the people who will see it are in the room while you do it. geez what a hypocrite.
sh0t-- she's not hot to me and definately not so hot that i dont' mind her saying that her version of living off her looks is somehow above my version.
one more thing.....i'm really sick of us being blamed for some asshole husband who is not satisfied at home for whatever reason.....the problem is not us, go get some marriage counseling and if that doesn't work, get rid of the loser!

Oh puh-leeze!! You girls are just hating because you didnt get to see her cry in a strip joint and because you don't get to see her old wigs (pre a month or two back) that showed the glue (and lowered to somewhere near her eyebrows) on her forehead. DON'T HATE-appreciate!!! lol

03-03-2006, 04:43 AM
I caught the Tyra show too and I agree with what pretty much everyone else said. She's a total hypocrite, and the strip club she went to had to have known what was going on, otherwise why would they allow all those cameras in? Like other people mentioned, I also hated how she made all customers out to be lying, cheating pigs and all strippers out to be dumb whores, but of course, what do you expect from a daytime TV show? There is no way a TV show would have a positive show about strippers. They have to cater to the fat housewives who watch it. There are plenty of couples who come to clubs, but they didn't show a single couple who enjoyed going to clubs together.
She sure did look different while going undercover as a stripper! And wouldn't that customer be annoyed as hell that he's trying to enjoy a lap dance and another girl keeps harassing him with questions?
Does anyone know what city and state the club was at? I think it was called Pleasures, but I'm not sure where it was located. Not really important, just curious.

I had a feeling she was not going to dance. She did a show sometime back where she was supposed to be doing something with dolphins. I think she was going to be feeding them and she was having something close to a panic attack over it because she is terrified of them. Pleassssssssssssse I think all those drugs she did way back then did away with the logical part of her brain.
