PS TOO I just sent you a PM.

All Good Things
05-10-2006, 10:21 PM
There are NINE people who said in the Yahoo group that they are absolutely going to the spa and only TWO people have PMed me as per my request. The spa needs to know for sure who is coming and for what package. If I do not receive a PM from you by Thursday night, you will not be going. Sorry, but they have to get things ready for a group like ours especially considering they're picking everyone up by limo. So, if I don't hear from you by Thursday night, sorry, but you cannot be included.

DW, if your spa limo capacity is six, you can certainly confirm for that number since you have nine confirmations from the Yahoo site and at least six from postings on the board. I'm sure you could get a group of six together very easily.

Not everybody checks this thread regularly right now since the event is still a couple of weeks off. It may be worth e-mailing the confirmed people on the Yahoo site so you don't miss anybody.

Since there are so many spa options in most high-end hotels on the Strip, I'm sure there will still be openings in other locations for anybody who misses the special deal SW has put together (although they book up insanely for holiday weekends). So if you are reading this and want to go, please PM him right away!

No kidding Bridgette. This really is going to be a blast seeing familiar faces and new ones alike. It's kind of like a family reunion with family members you've never met in person. :)

Oh, btw, it looks like Poker Night is going to be on for Sunday night without a hitch. It looks as though the Excalibur will be accommodating us just fine for a Texas Hold 'Em 1-3 limit game. Just to give everyone a little lesson in poker here:

In Texas Hold 'Em, you make the best hand of five cards out of a total of seven cards. Five of the seven cards are dealt face-up on the table and are community cards, meaning that they are to be used by everyone on the table. To explain the process of the game:

One player is designated as the "dealer". This player receives a big white button that says "dealer" on it to represent themselves as if they were the actual dealer of the game. Since the casino has a designated dealer to deal all the hands, this is how it is done. To the left of the Dealer Button are two players who must pay the "blinds". The blinds are representing an "ante" and maintain constant play with a minimum pot. The person to the left of the Dealer button is the Small Blinds and the person to the left of them is the Big Blinds. Sometimes the blinds vary in amounts. On the table we are at though, they are going to be the same amount though. Once the Blinds are posted ($1 each) then the dealing starts to the left of the Dealer button (Small Blinds) and goes around the table clockwise. Each player is dealt two cards, called the "Whole Cards".

After everyone looks at their whole cards, betting starts. In a 1-3 limit game, the minimum bet is $1 and the maximum bet is $3. In No Limit games, you can bet any amount you want, but to keep the game simple and on a lower budget, we're going to be on a limit game. The pots will not be as large, but you can play for a much longer time on a smaller amount of money.

Betting starts with the person to the left of the Big Blinds. To stay in the game, you must call ($1) or raise ($2 or $3). Assuming everyone calls the bet then three cards are dealt on the table face-up. This is called the "Flop". These are community cards used by everyone. Now betting starts to the person to the left of the dealer button (small blinds) first. Minimum bet is $1, maximum is $3. You can also "check" which means you want to stay in but do not wish to bet. Should everone at the table "check", then you got a free round. If someone bets, then to stay in you must either call the bet or raise. Should someone bet or raise a bet and you do not wish to stay in the hand, you can fold meaning you no longer wish to play in the hand. If someone raises, you can re-raise them if you choose. They then have the option of re-raising you again as well, but most casinos will usually cap the bet at that point. The only exception to this rule is if there is a "heads up" situation. "Heads Up" means there are only two players left in the hand. Some casinos will let unlimited raising happen in a heads-up hand. Also on this note, when folding, betting, or raising, always do so when it's your turn and only your turn. Betting out of turn is a common way for you to seem over confident in your hand and is also against the casino rules. Bet once out of turn and you'll be warned by the dealer. Subsequent times doing it may result in you being asked to leave the table. Other forms of ettiquite to be aware of is bad language. I have yet to play poker in a casino that had anything more liberal than a 0% tolerence for swearing. I've seen people kicked out of poker rooms on more than one occasion for dropping f-bombs so keep that in mind. :)

After betting/raising has taken place, another card is dealt face-up on the table. This is called the "Turn" card. Sometimes it's referred to as "4th Street" as it's the 4th card dealt to the table. Again, checking/betting/raising/folding now takes place. Should there be any remaining players, the last card, the "River" card is dealt to the table face-up. Again, checking/betting/raising/folding now takes place. The final members of the hand still in turn their whole cards up to reveal their hand. Remember, you are making a hand of five cards out of the available seven cards (2 in your hand and 5 on the table). The cards are to be turned up in order of clockwise from the Dealer Button. If a player before you has a hand that beats yours, you have the option of "mucking" meaning you give your cards to the dealer face-down so as not to show what you actually had.

After all this takes place, the Dealer Button is moved one position to the left, the Blinds are again posted and dealing starts all over again.

I know this is a lot to remember but there is one other wrench to throw in the gears. At any game higher than 1-3, the betting works a little different. I say this because we may be put on a 2-4 limit instead of a 1-3 limit depending on the casino's discression for letting us have a reserved table. In 2-4 Limit, the minimum bet before the flop and on the flop is $2 minimum and $4 maximum. AFTER the Flop though (on the Turn and River cards) the bet automatically goes up to a minimum of $4. This is designed to help drive the pot up a little. Most likely we won't encounter this though.

Lastly, the way the casino makes their money on a poker table is done so by the Rake. The Rake is a percentage of the pot that the casino gets to take for their services. Usually it's a small amount but you will see them take some chips after every round is dealt. That's what this is for.

SO...if anyone has any questions on all this insanity, just let me know. Now all we need is to have a strip-poker game somewhere! ;)

HEHE, just sent this out on a bulletin in myspace..think it'll work?? worth a shot! lol i'm not above begging rofl!
`````````````````````````````````
HELP! Send me to VEGAS! Please READ AND PASS ON! :) $$ 4U!
ok, here's the deal. I need a vacation. I've got 3 kids, all of which I love, but also they drive me nuts. I haven't had a vacation from them in about 5 years! Plus I've been having a crapola time lately, even just had surgery yesterday! blah
As many of you know, I sell removable stripper poles for you home...VERY affordable ones too!
So here's the deal...I need to sell 20-30 poles in the next week or so, so I can afford to go to Vegas.
Here's where you come in! If you could so kindly pass this bulletin on to all of your myspace friends to spread the word..
What's in it for you? How about $5 for each friend you refer to me that buys a pole. All they need to do is to be sure to tell me your myspace account after they buy so I can get in touch with you.
So say you have 1000 friends, and 50 of those buy poles from me...that's $250 bucks for you! How easy it that! Just make sure that they tell me who referred them. I will paypal the money you earn once the sale is completed (to avoid frauds).
You must be 18 or over in order get the referral bonuses however.
Please please please help a girl out! All you have to do is repost this and tell your friends if they buy one in the next week, to put your myspace account as the referral...and make sure they reply back to you so you can keep track!
Trust me, this is NOT a scam..you can even ask any of my friends about my trustworthyness (is that a word!? ). lol
You can see my website here...
bridgette, help, i'm confused. i didn't reply to the spa message by thursday, but i had already confirmed on the yahoo group thingie...am i in or am i out? if i'm out then please put me on standby or something, in case anyone backs out i guess. anyway i'm confused b/c i don't know if the yahoo group poll was my confirmation, or if i had to still confirm by thursday too...lemme know what's up!
Bridgette
05-14-2006, 06:01 PM
I had set up the yahoo group poll as attendance confirmation, but DW wanted those going to PM him with what spa services they wanted so he could set all that up for us. I think the spa needs to have specific booking arrangements so they can plan personnel for our group. I would try PMing DW to let him know you are definitely in and what service/package you want to get.
OK,sorry I didn't update for the last couple of days.Just got back from NYC...
We already got out tickets and are staying at the Mirage (me+1),and my girlfriend (another dancer,russian as well) also confirmed with me that she is coming as well with a friend,staying at another resort.So that will be I suppose Rusdancer+3 since the other couple
are not SW members.
We would love to meet you guys for cocktails,dinner and whatever else friday night.Saturday though I'm not sure how we should plan it.My friends say they want to see a show ("O" I believe) in the earlier evening,but if it's over around 10 pm or so we would like to catch up with the rest of you guys and do whatever.But...we don't have tickets for that yet.
Basically I'll need to find out for friday what time are we meeting and where.And saturday plans for after dinner.
TOO,I hope I run into you before the event for more details,or just PM me,thanks!
Rusdancer, if you're gonna get tickets for "O" get them ASAP. It's still a really hot show. I've seen it twice and it really is amazing though. "La Reve" over at the Wynn is similar (by the same creator) and I just saw that last week.
I heard "Zumanity" sucks though.
DancerWealth
05-15-2006, 05:50 PM
Actually, Zumanity is pretty good. Of the Cirque shows, Mystere is still my favorite though but Zumanity is a lot of fun. It's all about sexual taboos. Very cool.
Also, I will be having a schedule of pickup times for the spa on Saturday. We will be going in two trips, 45 minutes apart from one another to help the spa take care of everyone quickly and easily. I believe trip 1 will be at 1:30 and Trip 2 will be at 2:15. I'll have confirmation of all this within the next 48 hours.
I want to see the Liberace museum but I'm not sure when I can, since I'm working--and I'll be at the Exotic World event in downtown Vegas. If you want to play it by ear, email me and I'll send you my number and we'll see if I can go with you, or maybe several people will go. My sisters (actual blood relatives) will be in town for EW too and I KNOW they want to see the Liberace museum.
I just posted a poll in the Yahoo group about the spa reservations and pickups so please vote in this as soon as possible so I can relay it on to the Spa. I already voted in the later reservation time but I'll be driving my own car and 1 other person if needed so that should be our overflow time if more than 12 people want to go as the limo takes 6 people at a time. So please go vote ASAP. Thanks!
Bridgette
05-18-2006, 12:49 AM
^^We should be setting up the pickup according to which package everyone is getting. Those getting bigger, more time-consuming packages should be first, in order to be sure we're done in time to get ready for Saturday night's events. Those booking smaller, quicker packages should go in the second trip.
So - DW: didn't everyone already PM you with what package/services they wanted??? I know I did. (**hint hint ladies**)
As everybody knows, we'll be using the Bellagio as our meeting area as well as the departure point for the limo on Friday and Saturday nights. It's centrally located on the strip, so that should be the most convenient for everybody.
Right now, we are thinking that both Friday and Saturday will be "dress-up" nights. We wanted to do it Friday, but there are too many late arrivals to make that possible (if you arrive late Friday, come dressed up and come find us -- Bridgette will post our cell numbers later). So we'll do it on both nights.
I'll be in Vegas a day early, and will post updates to the site from there, so if anything changes, you can find it here.
The best meeting place at the Bellagio for us early on Friday and Saturday nights will be the Fontana Bar -- it's one of the largest bars, it's near the main casino and is near the fountains. There is also food available, so that's good for Friday because the "official" dinner is on Saturday. I thought about the Petrosian bar near the registration desk, but it's going to be too small for us. None of the bars take reservations, so we may need the elbow room if it gets crowded. I will alert the staff on Friday so they at least know we are coming. The backup plan is to use my suite, which is large enough to hold everybody for a reception, and I'll order up the food and alcohol from RS.
We'll plan to get together at the Fontana Bar at 6:00 PM on both nights. That will give us 2 hours before the limo picks us up at 8:00. We can go anywhere we want, and we'll have the limo until 4:00 AM (we can probably extend -- this strikes me as a little too early for clubbing, come to think of it.) Although the limo will always pick us up from the Bellagio, it will drop you off at your own individual hotels.
I'll stock the limo in advance, so if you have drink preferences, please post them or PM me.
Looking forward to seeing everybody!
Nine people have said they were going to the Spa on Saturday and only three people have voted in the Yahoo Group as to what time. Sorry to keep hammering on this guys but if you don't vote, you don't go. It's that simple. The spa needs to have an accurate head-count by the end of this weekend as they are basing pickup times and staff schedules on YOU. So please, go vote in the Yahoo group ASAP or you'll be the one standing at the curb going, "But how come I can't go?" because you never registered properly. Forgive me for being such a bad-guy over this everyone, but we really have to know right now.
Alrighty, I'm getting the 'official' schedule together and will send out a mass email to the yahoo group members later this evening. Have to hit the gym and visit the bf's parents now...
Casual Observer
It is with sincere regret and no small amount of displeasure that despite already having paid for my SF Las Vegas travel arrangements, I can no longer attend this blessed event.
As a few here know, on 10 May I was involved in a five-car collision in Boston, and while I was the only one to walk away from it with comparatively minor injuries, it's thrown my life into a chaotic mess. And because 76-year old diabetic women drive 60MPH through two red lights and because insurance companies suck, I've been on the hook for about $6K out of pocket in cash in the last two weeks waiting for resolution of the issue and hoping to not need an attorney to get compensation for my losses, nevermind lost wages. Adding insult to injury, my rental car was broken into on Monday and the drug-addled punk stole about $4K worth of work-related equipment and software from my car, all of which I've had to replace so I can actually work to try to recoup my expenses from the accident. It's been an expensive and frustrating month, particularly when I was so excited to vacation with the SW crew in Vegas. < end rant >
I extend my apologies and best wishes to everyone and hope to see you all there next year. Have some Grey Goose for me, TOO.
Motherfuck, CO! I am glad to hear that you're physically OK, but awfully sorry about the crap you're dealing with. This is terrible.
On another note: I have bought myself a ticket for the Friday night Miss Exotic World kickoff, which will feature the talented Jo Weldon and many other performers. The show's at 7pm Friday night, which will take me away from that night's meet and greet, but I simply cannot miss the chance to see some world-class burlesque. If anyone would like to join me, tickets are available here. (http://www.ticketweb.com/user/?region=xxx&query=search&interface=ticketweb&newhps=1&search=exotic+world)
I don't know what time it will be over but I'm happy to hang out afterwards or beforehand, and of course will be participating in the Saturday activities.
