^^ Now if the DJ's here did that, fuckin right id tip them good! The thing is there is no stage tipping so the DJ's dont have to do anything to encourage it because its nonexistant. As for selling dances.. they dont care because it doesnt effect their income and the club doesnt benifit from it so whats the point.

Let me start by saying that everyone from the busboy to the DJ is paid the same in my club, the server salary of $2.13 per hour. The only people on a real salary are the managers, and they're not allowed to accept tips. So, I scratch the back of those who scratch mine.
My DJ's talk me up when I get to stage, remind customers that we don't get paid if they're not at the tip rail, brings customers attention to my stage if it's empty, let's custies know I'm availible for private dances, gives me great lighting & music (when I'm on the main stage), can always get me off rotation even when we're running on a skeleton crew, has girls who are on time to stage following me, and gets me off the board in a timely manner so I'm not on stage 15-30 minutes after my shift has ended. I Believe he's worth the 10% I give him.
I've noticed that they aren't as accomadating or helpful to every girl in the club, so I think it's safe to assume that those of us who get better service from them are the ones who are more generous tipping them... Kinda like how we as entertainers are to our customers.
There's also no hard rules about who and how much you tip. When you're hired, the manager gives you the unspoken tipout ettiqutte, but there's a big sign in the DJ booth and locker room that says, "TIPS ARE NOT REQUIRED".
I've worked in clubs where the DJ was merely a warm jukebox. They didn't get 10%. A gratuity should reflect the quality of the service you recieve.

At one club we had a house fee of 70-140 depending on what day and shift. No required tip outs to DJ or floor guys, but usual was 20 to dj and 5 to each floor guy, 5 to house mom.
At another, house fee is 10 dollars if you're on time, 13 to DJ, 5 to house mom, and 3 for the floor guy who walks you to your car. Those are the required fees, everything else is at your discretion. If I made over 300, or I thought the DJ did something special, I'd give him extra, but on an average night, say I'm walking with 200, I think 13 is fair. I brought in my own CD, so all I'm doing is telling him what number to play, and he's not talking me up.
I just did some calculations for the past few shifts I've worked at this second club. I've paid them between 13 and 23%, depending on the night. I'd say that's pretty fair.
