This post was from 2006 or earlier, do people still find this part true? I personally find the opposite. I find it near impossible to close a sale in a gown, but in lingerie/short dress it's so much easier.

Doesn't matter what you're wearing as long as you feel good in it. I think there is an exception depending on the club you're at. If you work in a ghetto dive, you're gonna stand out in a bad way if you're wearing a gown.

But, again, it really only depends on how you carry yourself and what you KNOW you can get away with and how what you're wearing makes you feel.

i completely disagree with the classy vs sexy/trashy look. i think women put much more stock in that then men, especially men coming into the strip club..nobody comes in there with "class" in mind. now don't ACT trashy, but looking sexy and stripperfied is the whole idea

^ Agreed. I cant understand dancers who dress in a beautiful outfit then ruin it by swearing, slumping, shouting, etc

I've tested the classy vs trashy theory on myself. I made more money in less clothes HANDS DOWN (ime). I tested this out recently as well, one day I wore thong bikini and the next I wore an elegant two piece skirt outfit. I had to do TOO much talking in that skirt outfit. In the thing bikini my body did alllllll the selling for me. Which sucks because I personally like taking off my clothes lol! I make even more money in flashy embellished outfits. I don't really understand it because I thought that the classy look would sale better. No. Compare 1k night with a 220 night lol.

I've also tried both ideas in the same night. Same outcome.

I think it depends on what suits you. I have a million of the same 2 piece halter bikinis with scrunch bottom tie sides and it just brings out my features the best and shows off my body in an obvious way.

When I wear tube dresses, I do occasionally make money but most of the time I don't. Maybe because I don't feel comfortable, who knows.

I think you can be skimpy, but just don't look cheap. For example mis matched, holes in outfit, washed out, etc.

Guys seem to love regular lingerie but I just find it annoying to take off, etc.

Another reason why I like my bikinis is efficiency. I can take out my boobs fast and get dressed and undressed quickly and sexy. And there's lots of places to put dollars.

I find on nights when I FEEL bangin' (new outfit, new nails, perfect makeup whatever) I make less than nights when I feel like I'm dressed 'down' (like more girl next door). I think in my country guys have a tendancy to write off the super hot or 'perfect' looking girls (not to be big headed or anything, you know what I mean) as stuck up or bitchy, whereas girls who look a little more 'normal' are considered more approachable.

Maybe I just act differently though...

Very helpful. Thank you for posting this.

The girls I work with stay very close to each other and we consider ourselves a family for the most part. So much that most of us are Facebook friends and now know real names, etc. Unfortunately, this has bitten some of us in the ass in the past. I've had a jealous dancer/former friend tell a regular customer I have a boyfriend and pull up my Facebook account before. When I tried to sell to him, he said my real name and asked me how my boyfriend (by real name, too) was doing. I was creeped the fuck out. Another girl gave a customer my number and he texted me on my birthday after she told him it was on that day. Another friend has a terrible and shitty habit of introducing me to customers using my real name instead of my stage or fake real name. I had to have a serious conversation with her about it and why it isn't cool. Once I posted on Facebook about how I don't appreciate the giving out of my information to the "club girls" friends list I have on Facebook, whoever was giving out my info stopped or word got to that person. I haven't had problems since. I'm not saying I regret adding my coworkers on Facebook, but I have learned to be more cautious and it has helped me come up with new lies for customers.

If your club has a Facebook "Add Friend" page and not a "Like" page, don't friend it. I've had customers tell me they deliberately stalk the friends list of the club to find out girls' real info.

To me, it's about looking expensive, not classy vs trashy. I would never want to look trashy based on my opinion of what "trashy" is. However, my home club is not a gown club and I wear plenty of bra&panties sets and skimpy outfits. I still keep my nails done, makeup looking good, rhinestone jewelry, etc. I really try not to look cheap. Who wants to look cheap?

And yeah I also don't like to friend people on Fb who I work with. Sometimes it's good in this industry to keep the two separate!

I purposefully picked a stage name that is a shortened version of a real sounding fake name, Lili, short, cute, rolls off the tongue- if asked my real name, it's Lilith! Kinda old fashioned sounding with an empowering background. Nobody's called me on it yet ;) Would work with LOTS of other names too

This post was from 2006 or earlier, do people still find this part true? I personally find the opposite. I find it near impossible to close a sale in a gown, but in lingerie/short dress it's so much easier.

I went through a phase of wearing mini dresses, and now I wear sparkly bra/thong sets (from Victoria's Secret, or bought from our house moms). I find that I make more money wearing the bra/thong set. A few weeks ago, I was walking to the lap dance room with a drunk customer and he pointed out another girl in a lacy mini dress and said to me, "She's pretty, but she's wearing too many clothes -- must be trying to cover up a c-section scar." :O

Yep...this is the *only* reason why I don't wear any sort of dress. Every time I see a girl - no matter how beautiful she is - wearing skimpy bottoms and a top that covers any part of her stomach, I think to myself, "what is she hiding?" Even if she isn't hiding anything, that's the first thought that pops into my head.

I've thought about wearing a mini dress that exposes the stomach, but even then, I think it looks like you're hiding love handles / tattoos / whatever. I'd rather show the customers that there's nothing to hide and not risk missing out on a sale due to something so silly.

This is the one that I'd love to own but comes with the problem I mentioned above...:

I hate working at gown clubs for this reason. I just don't feel like the stripper me, instead I feel like a little girl playing dress up in my moms clothes. Mind you, I don't own any nice dresses from Kamala or other companies like that. I mostly have box set dresses that don't fit 100% right but since I don't work in gown clubs a lot, I haven't bothered to upgrade.

I do best in bikini tops and stringy thongs that I can quickly take on and off and can let my body do my sale for me. I have a girl next door lock and the bikini outfits kind of make me look like a girl from Girls Gone Wild or one of those college co-ed spring break types.

I now go by a lengthened version of my name- Lorelai (real name is Laura). Its easy to remember and unique- I've gotten tons of compliments on how pretty my name is and how guys have never heard it before!
