^^^^ I understand the Its What You Look Like thing. Trust me. I get sick of being told to go get a tan. Sick of it. I'm at the other end of the spectrum of the samn damn idea.
Ummm except for one of those women, those are just playmates. I said how many are PMOY. Only Renee Tenison was PMOY. I was making a point that I have still not seen a black woman in Penthouse in the almost year I've been recieving it. I did not say there has never been a black woman in playboy and penthouse. I was making a point that these are very popular, mainstream magazines. They do not feature black women often. That speaks for itself.
Ummm.... no, what you said was:
Ummmm look at a penthouse/playboy. I have not seen a black woman in penthouse yet, in the almost year I've been gettin it. Not ONE, zero, zilch, nada. Not even an ad in Pent with a black woman in it. How many blacks in Playboy???? How many black girls have, IF EVER, have been PMOY??? How many have been Pet of the year??? Complain all you want about blondes being the rule, but there are brunettes in every issue. LOTS OF THEM. I have seen a lot of redheads and hispanics in Penthouse as well. NO BLACKS though.
As for Penthouse? Vanessa Williams. Didnt get issues September 1984, November 1984, January 1985, and April 1993?
Ok so here's my one burning question, magazines aside....
If you're getting significantly less than white women, are you making enough to get by? Why not go get a paycheck job if its so horrid in the adult entertainment industry? Who is making you stay?

^^^Not to stick my nose where it doesn't belong but even if a person if to make more than enough to get by, it still sucks being discriminated against for whatever reason. It sucks having to work harder than someone else just because what you look like is not what is in highest demand in the area you work in. There is probably no easy solution but it sucks regardless.

i worked at a club once, and i was dancing on stage and got off with like 2 dollars...then a black girl got on stage right after me, started shaking her ass and dancing all good, and people were throwing PILES of money up at her. i felt kinda stupid. i think it depends on the club and area.

I'm sure different Black gals will have different answers for this one Paige.
I do make enough to "get by", in fact I do well much of the time. However, I have something to fall back on, so my attitude may be better when I work, because I know I'm getting my retirement & disablilty checks every month forever.
Although it sucks when you see or deal with the "bullshit" we are talking about, I TRY, to out on a happy face, and Thank God I can work when and if I want.
So do you advocate a mass exodus of the "cheated/dissed" Black women from dancing?
I mean, didn't someone say "Liberty and Justice for all". The stuff we deal with is indeed unjust!

What Im saying is, if it sucks so much and it makes you THAT mad, why continue to stay? I personally wouldnt want to remain in any situation that brings me that much grief. ANY situation. Not just racism or stripping or both. ANY situation. I can totally understand being pissed if you walk out of a club with $50, which I do often... But if you are making above and beyond what most folks in your age bracket make in paycheck jobs, or even make enough to be totally comfy.... yanno? And if you make crap money AND are miserable due to racism, I see noreason to stay. It isnt giving in, its getting yourself out of a bad situation and into a good, positive one.

Sweetheart, that has happened to me b4 as well. Just be glad you went up before her, it's a BIIIAATTCCHHH, going on after a gal like that, and looking at the people that just tipped the girl that was on before you, and begging them with your eyes to tip! LOL

We're going to have to A2D on that one Paige. I feel, it is in fact giving in.
I'd be boycotting much more shit than I do, if I avoided all the bad situations I come across! Some of my favorite restaurants too, lol

Again you misquoting me. I said, "I HAVE NOT SEEN A BLACK WOMAN IN PENTHOUSE YET, IN THE ALMOST YEAR I HAVE BEEN RECEIVING IT." I HAVE BEEN GETTING PENT SINCE NOV 2005 TO JULY (NOW) IN THIS TIME SPAN THERE HAS NOT BEEN ONE BLACK WOMAN!!!! THATS WHY IT SAYS "IN THE ALMOST YEAR I HAVE BEEN RECIEVING IT." I NEVER SAID THERE HAVE NEVER BEEN A BLACK WOMAN IN PENTHOUSE. I NEVER SAID THERE HAVE NEVER BEEN A BLACK WOMAN IN PB. I SAID, "HOW MANY BLACKS IN PLAYBOY???" IF I GO THROUGH ALL THE BACK ISSUES OF PB, HOW MANY DO YOU THINK I WOULD FIND??? WHAT WOULD THE % BE COMPARED TO THAT OF WHITES?? I HAVE A PLAYBOY WITH A BLACK CHICK IN IT (QUIANA CHASE?) I SAID, "HOW MANY BLACKS HAVE BEEN PMOY?" THERE IS A DIFFERRENCE BETWEEN BEING FEATURED IN THE MAG, BEING A PLAYMATE/PET, AND BEING PLAYMATE OF THE YEAR (PMOY) OR BEING PET OF THE YEAR.

I am not miserable at my job. I LUV my job. I like being a stripper. I like the money I make, especially compared to what I'd make at a 'normal' job. I still do not think I make what I should make, especially compared to the girls I work with. I have honestly learned to deal with the racism. (where do u think I got hot4ablackchick) I know most nights I have to be "better" than the other girls to make some real $. I have to smile, be supersweet and superfriendly. When I first started I was a wannadance girl. I wasn't making shit. Even though every girl wannadanced. I see MANY white girls with attitudes, but don't let the black girl have an attitude at most clubs. I just HATE it when other girls (especially those who are not even black) pretend that it does exist, that there is not a difference. I AM NOT saying that black girls can't make it in this biz. The diff is what we have to do to make it in this biz. YOUR club may be different for blacks. At my club, you would do well. YOUR CLUB DOES NOT SET THE STANDARD FOR THE REST OF AMERICA. I believe the majority of clubs are not like the club you are at. Blacks are not in 'high demand' at most areas. Since most black girls completely agree with me on this area, I would say there is much truth to this sensitive subject. Clubs would not have a maximum amount of black women if there was not a difference. My managers tend to hire whoever (black, white, whatever) But the manager has often said, "it really doesn't make sense to have more than one or two black girls working here." New black girls are told by management that there money will be slow at first. New white girls are told they will bank as long as they ask for dances. I got horrible stage tips, and barely made any money when I was new, and was told by management "Not to expect much for a while, its normal" There is a difference.

Riiiiiigggggghhhhhhtttttt JustJayda!!!!!! Geez I love you. I saw what you said about "becky in the walmart lingerie" Made ME laugh my ass off. Our top earner (white chick) wears walmart/target shit!!! HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!
Just Jayda and Hot 4 a Black Chick make some good points. As a black dancer who has been in this business for a long time, I will say LOTS of variables come into play.
The caucasian standard of beauty is the norm in this country, and for the most part, the farther a woman of color veers from that in her appearance, the less marketable she most likely will be especially in dealing with a predominantly white clientele.
Selling skills, articulateness and polish mean a lot too for a woman of color. The more different us women of color "seem" to white customers compared to their race, the more "some" may reject us.
Many white men are "curious" about black women, but if they come in the club in "groups" they may feel uncomfortable tipping or buying dances from women of color for fear of being ridiculed by their peers.
All black women don't assimilate in white culture as well as they need to to be in this business. In other words, black dancers who have had limited exposure to a majority white environment, may lack the social skills and confidence needed to prosper in places where blacks are not the majority.
There are a good number of black dancers who feel racially inferior to whites who believe the only way to make money off of white men is to fuck them outside the club for less money than white women charge. I have worked with TONS of black girls on bookings who think this way.
Plus working in a club with a minimal amount or no black dancers is a plus, because it opens up the door for a attractive articulate black girl to match or even outearn the white dancers.
Black club patrons by and large are jivey, and have more game than the average white man, which is good when hiring a sales person, but tough to deal with when trying to sell them. Black men need to be more passive and supportive of women of color too, and spend as much in the club as white men. But let's face it, a larger percentage of white men lack game when in comes to picking up women. Look at our customers. A black man with game talks jive EVERYWHERE he goes knowing that after a bunch of fuck you's, he will get some takers. Many white men aren't that confident.
There is a lot of difference in the average 50 year old white man and black man where game is concerned, right?
Much of our problem is societal. Strip clubs are virtually all white male owned. Most businesses in this country of any type are white owned. Most white business owners use a quota sytem in hiring blacks no matter what type of business they run not just strip clubs. If a business needs 10 employees and 10 blacks are highly qualified and the white applicants are not, that business owner will be afraid to hire 10 blacks because he is worried about intimidating the white patrons. Total white control of wealth in this country is a HUGE problem, and we have to as black people erode it. Until our black race can learn how to make the large amounts of money that wealthy whites earn, and start to dominate businesses that they run, we will always have to beg for a job and for tips. When more white people can become comfortable with blacks, the more money will loosen up. But that won't happen if we as black people don't force the isssue. White people are happy with things the way they are.
Training is lacking in strip clubs. Programs like DW offers need to be offered on a MASS scale for a low amount of money for dancers AND club owners, in order to try to improve the situation and try to create a club environment where all races of dancers and customers can enjoy all genres of music, and where older white men can be comfortable around hip hop customers.Middle aged white club owners with a "few" exceptions are a BIG problem.
A good DJ can PUSH white guys to not be racist and tip and buy dances from women of color, but most don't. I have firsthand seen GOOD DJ's dramaticaaly change the flow of money to ALL the races from hesitant men. These types of DJ's are few and far between, and some club owners actually discourage DJ's form pushing the crowd too hard.
All of this CAN happen, but no one is making the effort to change it. >:(

I was just about done with this thread until you commented. Tina your points were well layed out and made more sense to me.
Selling skills, articulateness and polish mean a lot too for a woman of color. The more different us women of color "seem" to white customers compared to their race, the more "some" may reject us.
So true. Many white men are surprised at how smart I sound to them. Then their barrier tends to melt down. It has been a big part of how I present myself to a customer. I dont speak slang or cuss around them as I think it might add to the streotype. I dress myself according to my body type and wear colors to compliment my skin tone. Not saying that other black girls dont just saying what has helped me appeal to all customers as a whole.
There are a good number of black dancers who feel racially inferior to whites who believe the only way to make money off of white men is to fuck them outside the club for less money than white women charge. I have worked with TONS of black girls on bookings who think this way.
Very sad to read that one. I dont know if it is the inferiority that bothers me or the OTC sexual encounters does more.
Plus working in a club with a minimal amount or no black dancers is a plus, because it opens up the door for a attractive articulate black girl to match or even outearn the white dancers.
I wish more black women would look at this like that.

That made alot of sense. Problems needs change even if it is slow. At least something positive is happening. As long as black people act like victims they will be.

You misunderstood. The horse IS the problem. Not bringing it back up, solves absolutely nothing. Phuck shutting up and coloring! I don't want to change my color, maybe you do. I damn sure don't need or desire to find "ways around it" either.
Find ways around my color...unbelievable >:(
I don't live "in spite of" being Black!
Like another poster said in reference to something totally different:
Fuck it, some people just can't be saved :(
