Oh, back in the day I remember paying $120 average for a gown. But that was a long time ago in a land far far away when money was MUCH easier to make. There is no way in hell I'd pay that much now.

Of course, Nom de Plume gowns would just about HAVE to retail for $100+, because they're so expensive, even wholesale. Even though I'll probably never wear such a thing at work again, I still swoon at the fabrics, the cuts, the designs, the detail, the rhinestones all hand-attached....OMFG I am actually salivating!! I fucken love their gowns!! Those things are to die for :D

the person brining in this rule is the owner. shes old (not being mean, but shes in her 60s easy, but been a club manager since forever, and she usually knows what shes on about) shes tried uniforms before, and from what ive heard, many girls refused to wear it back then and quit.

Ah yes.. I just HAVE to interject here. I do remember the "old Player's uniform" It was like a black babydoll dress with a black Gstring... and if I remember correctly the GString had a big silver star on the front of it. It did work at the time and yes it didn't flatter all the dancers. I think the Players in Brisbane still has a similiar if not the same uniform ???

Anyway, I worked at this particular club after it had stopped using the uniform yet a few dancers kept using it anyway as it actually flattered them. As for paying $120 for the dress, it is a write-off anyway ... as long as they provide you with a receipt stating that it is a uniform.

This particular club just needs to deal with the fact that it isn't top dog anymore nor will it ever be again. It is one of the top dogs not the top dog. It was top dog for many many many years .... and I guess the owner (esp. since she is at an age that is reknown for not being open to too much change) can't get over it and move on.

As for doing this before Indy... that is a bit silly. It doesn't take a day to make a decent dress esp. one that can stand the punishment we give them by putting them on/off constantly. What will the quality of these dresses be like?? I don't even want to think about it.

If they want to truely compete: get rid of the percentage! Do fees. Provide food for the dancers esp. Friday and Saturday nights which are meant to be busy nights. Concentrate on making sure the customer service from everyone is superb. The only ones in the club that should wear a uniform is the bar tenders and drink waitresses.

A mass walk-out wouldn't work for this club as it knows full well that alot of its dancers won't work elsewhere and the only other decent club in the town won't take them on. There is pretty much nothing anyone can do except let her see the error of her ways after it happens.

Either shut up or quit. That is really the only thing anyone can do at the moment. Quitting won't stop her from implementing it.

It isn't a club manager that is doing this... it is the club's owner!!! She has owned this club for decades.

In re: changes happening at this club. I do remember that it is thanks to me and a certain incident that happened when I was working at this particular strip club that instigated one change... at one time they would confiscate a dancer's pay. You read that right. They would not pay you a previous night's work/pay if they thought you hadn't performed properly that night.

I was nearly escorted out by security however I stood my ground. I refused them to take away my Wednesday night's pay due to my shitty work (it was shitty.. I was in a terrible mood and just did not work.. kept hiding.. avoiding work) on a Friday night. I told them they had every right to take away my Friday night's pay (it was less than $100) not take away my Wednesday night's pay. I had worked well and hard on Wednesday night and thus was full well entitled to that pay (it was over $400 so naturally I didn't want to give that up!).

Well, in the end, the manager at the time saw that I was right (I was prepared to go to Industrial Relations about the matter as I knew I was right... and he did too) and gave me Wednesday night's pay whilst docking me Friday's pay. Whilst I had "won" .... I also learnt about how much power the Hostesses at this particular club have... for a fortnight I didn't have their obvious help and they even hindered me at times because they felt I had disrespected them over this incident. I did apologise however things weren't ever the same again after it ... eventually the Hostesses got over it.

Since one of those Hostesses from back then is now in a position of power supposedly no wonder I wasn't hired. LOL. They know I know my rights and don't take shit from them. They don't like me as I am too out-spoken.

It isn't just the fact that I do private parties I wasn't hired.

Anyway.... alot of the girls will grumble however in the end they will shut up and wear the uniforms. It is one of those things you have to "grin and bear it" until the owner realises the error of her ways.... which might be awhile.

What a weird concept to make more money. I swear it keeps getting kookier every new thread of these that pop up. Why are club managers grubbing for more money with hairbrained ideas? Then they are making you buy the gown too....oh god no!

Im not sure but guys like a girl with personality. Part of hers shows through her outfit. I think guys will start to chose girls they wont end up happy with. They might as well make you all wear burlap sacks. Tell us how long this lasts.

Yeah, apparently I am in the minority for not caring. Keeping in mind, I'd see it as an advantage of sorts because I'd alter my gown to fit me really well, whereas problaby at least 50% of girls wouldn't.

But the $120 price tag would piss me right off.

The costumes at the Whitehouse were $150, and they were definitely not worth it. That annoyed me.

*sigh* It doesn't take much to knock up some sandwiches or create a cheese platter or sum such. Spearmint Rhino spoils me  I always chow down on their platters they serve Fri/Sat nights.

If they charge you for food, do they have alot of decent healthy choices at least or is it all junk food orientated ?

Is the uniform still going ahead ??

the meal actually does sound good.

its a pasta and a muffin ( i think) for $10 and they do a platter thing-a few slices of chees and crackers, and salami for $10
its a good start for them, actually having that food thing is great. oh and there is a coffe machine out the back, but i always forget to use it haha dumbass!

You're avoiding the original topic of this thread... are they still going ahead with the uniform idea? Do you have any photos you can share of the uniforms if they are going to go ahead with it?

Yeah, apparently I am in the minority for not caring. Hopefully you didn't take offense to my earlier comment to this affect; non meant.

If they tried to institute this at most if not all of the clubs I've worked, you'd hear alot of stuff like this in the DR:

This is such bullshit!
WTF are they trying to do, make us robots?
How are the customers supposed to tell us apart???
Fuck this shit!!!
I'm quitting!
I'm going over to ____ club!
This is just another way for them to make money off us! Fucking assholes!
$120 for an outfit??? Are they fucking kidding???!!!
What's next, fucking mandatory tit jobs from the club's doctor?!?!?

etc...

I can just hear it now :P

I think that is crazy...about half, well at least a quarter of my dances start with a custy saying "damn, I like that outfit...can I get a dance?" Like one of the other girls said, maybe if it was like 1 or 2 a week...but that is just crazy...part of selling dances is by being an individual!

Good Luck and keep us posted!

tonight was the night!!

the uniforms came into effect, and we had NO choice but to have the money ($120) removed from our pay to buy these fugly dresses that looked like sacks on everyone.

i walked out.

no fucking way could i comprehend wearing paying for these dresses that they claim "$120 is what we paid for them, its the wholesale price" dont fucking lie to me!! i know for a fact these dresses cost less then $4 in materials!

they look like mesh sacks. cowl neck mesh sacks. mesh sack gowns. i dont know how else to describe it! its hideous!!!!

niow i have no job :(

lol easily the stupidist reason i have quit a job before!!! oh wait, except for the time i got fired for claiming ginger beer wasnt beer...another story entirely!
oh, and the dresses are indefinate apparently...

Ugh, horrible!
You know a few years ago uniforms were the norm at the majority of Gold Coast strip clubs. Sante Fe and Bad Girls had a choice of 2 different styles of white mesh gowns, Universal Girls had these blue, silver and white padded dresses with matching g-strings and jackets and Players had a few different styles at different times or sometimes a combination of a few things to cater for different body types - probably who-ever profited on the uniforms had buisness sense... Crazy Horse was the only club that didnt have one!
It's just another way for the club to make money - sometimes just another way for the manager to make extra $. As you mentioned the uniforms are rarely worth the price! Im not sure what club it is ( but Im guessing Players) They probably expect to cash in on all the girls coming up for Indy.

10-06-2006, 05:21 AM
yep, they expect all the indy girls to buy them too...and yep, its players.

now im stuck between a rock and a hard place on where to work down here... crazy horse or hollywood are my options (until speamint rhino open anyways)

thank god im only sticking around till the end of summer!!!

aussiepunkshocker
10-06-2006, 05:52 AM
Yeah, I dont like the options that's one of the reasons why I havent worked locally for so long... Im always half tempted to try CH, but I just havent got that much motivation, lol. Everytime I think about trying Players I hear another fucked up story about management or their polocies - this has been going on for years now!
When is SR opening?

mermaidnz
10-06-2006, 05:58 AM
ew. just went into crazy horse..definatly not my thing. a few girls working and only a few guys in there...

SR has a sign form the coucil RE: applications to go against it being a adult venue, submissions close oct 13th.
i guess at best it might open in time for indy.just. most likley afterwards tho.

aussiepunkshocker
10-06-2006, 06:30 AM
Oh ok, SR's hopefully not too far away then.
Shame about CH. Pity theres not more choice - although if there were buisness would possibly be terrible...

the other dancers claimed 2 nights ago that if/when the uniforms were to be brought in, theyd strike/quit.

i was the only one to do so....
