Question... What's "Fair Dinkum?"

Fair dinkum : true, genuine
I was sad and happy. Everytime they showed Terri and "the kids".. I cried. She was bawling 'inside' yet trying to keep on a strong face (you could see even behind those shades that she is very very heartbroken by his passing) due to the media presence. I totally cried tears of pride on behalf of Steve when Bindi got up there to say something. He would've been so damn proud of her.
All in all, it was a very very fitting tribute to him. I totally agree now with them having had it at Australia Zoo. I'm going to be 45 minutes away tomorrow compared to a 2 hour drive usually so I will try to "swing by" tomorrow and enjoy the Zoo even if it is for a few hours. That will be my way of paying tribute to Steve and enjoying his legacy ...and helping it live on. ;D

It's on right now on Ch 7 (4.30pm) at the very least. It was commercial free and shown on ABC, Chn 7 and Chn 9 at 9am today. I think Chn 9 is showing it at 5pm... if you are missing the Chn 7 one right now. You may not be able to come to Aust. Zoo this month however it isn't going anywhere.. it will be around for a long while to come IMO.. so just come up to QLD whenever you can to visit it. ;)

That's exactly when I started bawling. What a strong little girl she is.
I loved what they did with the flowers. Totally brought a smile to my heart.

Okay....voice of a wee bit of dissent here. I thought most of it was far too slick and cutaway shots and overproduced TV-style corny. I really could do without seeing what Justin Timberlake has to say about Steve. Bindi was heartbreaking, though. So was his father, Bob. The songs were nice, and I liked that they seemed to keep it fairly light-hearted in general. The one little testimonial from Russell Crowe seemed really genuine, were they actually friends? The flowers spelling out "crikey" at the end was cute, too. What was with the Wiggles guy hosting it though, just because he's Aussie? For you folks down there, what was the song about living in the bush with the ooooold rocking chaaair?

Steve was very involved with The Wiggles hence the reason why he "hosted" it as such. Plus I don't mind how "slick" it was.... it was just well organised... granted, I could've done away with Justin as well... as for the "Gimme a home among the gum trees" is a good ol' Australiana song. It's a very old, well known song here. I loved it.
I sang along with it. It's supposed to reflect Australia that song.
I think Russell and Steve were decent enough "mates" as such. He did seem genuine.

Some guys at work were saying that someone they know has seen the video and found it on the internet. Has anyone else heard of this or are they just talking shit? I think its sick some dumbass would put it on the internet.

Yeah, I figured they were in tight, because he'd been on a couple of episodes of the Wiggles (in songs and such).
Russell looked like he was genuinely saddened, you could tell he'd been crying.
I would've ditched Kelly Ripa though.. Ugh. I hate that hyper nutso broad.
Big Daddy, I hadn't heard that there was any video. If someone did get their hands on it though, it'd be fucking sick and heartless.

The blue wiggle and Steve Irwin were great friends. The blue Wiggle originally showed up in BLACK wiggle costume! :( Made me sad.

I went to Australia Zoo yesterday!! (Yes I will post pics eventually......)
I'm much more upbeat about the whole Steve ordeal now. I realise that he has everything "under control" even in his death........ the Zoo seems popular enough with people local and abroad (within and outside Australia) that it won't die just because he has... as for the Hospital... it's getting ready to move house (as such).
At the moment, it is so so small! It could hardly fit all 9 people on the tour  however we did get to see the blueprints for the new hospital and it is all good news... much much bigger and better. Steve's legacy will live on for a long long time to come.
BTW, the Zoo and the Animal Hospital are run as two separate distinct entities. The hopital will charge the Zoo if the Zoo has need of their services (the vet etc)... so if you do visit the Zoo you are indirectly eventually helping to support the hospital.
HOWEVER
If you want to support Wildlife Warriors which includes the running of the hospital (all admin wages etc are taken care of by Australia Zoo not the chairty) then do any of the "Animal Encounters" on offer through the Zoo or just support directly via www.wildlifewarriors.org
A little sunburnt however highly recommended! ;D Woohoo!!

This is Steve Irwin related hence the revival of this thread:

So Steve was a showman? We've been over this already when Germaine had a pot shot at him. In the end, it doesn't really matter how he went about delivering the message as long as it got delivered ........plus he really did know what he was doing! Damn! He wasn't stupid! He just felt that it was imperative for people to see the animals up-close and personal as such... anyway I'll stop now as I could go on and on. :soapbox:

^^ Bill Maher looks BAD. He looks drunk and ready to pass out/puke. OMG, his costume doesn't scare me, but his face sure does.

Bill Maher=dick. I understand that he is notorious for pressing the envelope, but if I were terri irwin and I saw that, my heart would break all over again.
Let's hope that Mr. Maher's life remains free of freak accidents occuring to any of his loved ones. /:O

I don't think there is anything wrong with it. And as that article said, Bindi already has her own tv program...and she's family.

I'm a huge 'fan' of Steve Irwin and even I can find the humour in how he died now. At the time, I didn't as it was just waaaay too close to home (as such) however now... over a month later... why not have a little laugh as it was a freak accident... I doubt Steve would have died in a "normal" manner (ie like in his sleep or something sedate/mundane).
;D Granted that pic is horrible. It does him no favours.
