The baby oil part freaked me out, especially. Oil-based lubes are far more likely to hold onto bacteria/infection than water soluble lube. Imagine having to fuck a greasy, funky cock like that.
I've actually heard about this before the books came out in bits nd pieces, but never in this much detail. I think I need to go shower now. The part about the girls getting severe UTIs and yeast infections and all that makes total sense. So gross.

I guess I'm alone in this opinion, but I think Hugh Hefner deserves to live his life in whichever way he wants.
He was a pioneer in the adult entertainment industry and he challenged boundaries! The girls that become "girlfriends" obviously are not there because they're physically attracted or just "happened" to fall in love with an 80 yr old man. They know the game. They went there willingly. They moved in knowing what he does and how he runs things. And if they don't they are REALLY naive.
I look up to him for starting Playboy and pushing society's limits a little bit. A woman's naked body is beautiful! The feminist in me wished a woman was the one who started it, but whatever.
As far as his personal life goes, who cares how many girlfriends he has? Everyone deserves to live their life however they want.
But hey, I'm a very openminded, nonjudgmental, like to rebel against societal standards, Aquarius like Hugh Hefner is. I can see how it would bother people how he lives his life, but if you don't like it, then don't live your life that way. Life's too short to spend time criticizing others for the choices they make. That's just my opinion. ;)

Lets say all this is true...
I don't mind a rich old man living with a paid harem. I've got no problem with prostitution. It's the no condom, no vd check, one girl right after the other story that irks me. Its just so disturbing and degrading. It seems so out of line with the usual progressive stance of the playboy philosophy.

yeah i had heard that she was a dancer.. shes very lucky Hef was accepting of that... he doesn't usually have anything to do with dancers.. only a few exceptions...
There are more than a few exceptions...Nobody ever tells them the truth about having been a stripper. I personally have known at least 6 girls who were dancers and became playmates and Donna D'Erico was a dancer in Vegas. I just think nobody talks about it.

It's pretty obvious to me that a very large proportion of the Playmates were dancers, certainly the ones from the 90's on.
I don't have a problem with Hef getting laid a lot under whatever circumstances, it's more the controlling behavior that is simultaneously funny and destructive to my former considerable esteem for the guy.
i mean, it's so lame to say you can fuck whoever you want, but the partner(s) can't, and actually the antithesis of the whole notion of sexual freedom he first championed. Freedom for one sex, but not the other, other than being enthusiastic in this aspect of servitude.
Let the women fuck whoever they wanted as well, and I could respect him a lot more...

I dont have much an opinion of him.. havent really thought about it

I agree with a former Playboy employee- in her mind, Hef's built his empire on the backs of other women. He NEEDS women and he's kinda spiteful for that.
On the other hand, I'm with DJoser. I don't care about him getting laid- but the flagrant lack of safety precautions, the dishonesty (if he's having people tell the new girls that everyone is tested when they're not- then that's a crime IMHO) and basically, the fact that he won't allow the GFs to be sleep, much less be seen- with other guys... that's what bugs me.

Placing limits on your sexual partners' behavior, and forbidding them to limit you in any way in the process, demonstrates a serious lack of respect for them.
I would say he likes women, but doesn't love them, lol--but it's just semantics.
He certainly likes to dominate them sexually, and treat them as inferior beings, and has been doing so for years now--just as powerful men have throughout history in patriarchical, sexist societies. This is where I have lost respect for him, and would consider that he is being counterproductive from the standpoint of the sexual emancipation of women.

^^ ditto. I think he's a smart businessman, but nothing more. I also don't think he's really done much for the sexual revolution. I think he kinda re-laundered the sexism into something more palatable for people, but nothing he's done has been ground-breaking.

^^^^
Agreed. I think he rode the coattails of the sexual revolution to become a very wealthy man. Playboy was ground-breaking at the time of its inception--the whole sexy but wholesome girl next door thing. Now, all the models look like porn stars, and they all pretty much look the same. I think the whole presentation has become seedy and tired, like the old fool himself.

this is an old thread, but i just halfway read this book and wanted to share my thoughts on it. don't waste your time. plain and simple. i skipped over many parts, i felt like it was very repetitive and contradictory. near the beginning, she writes about her boyfriend that he loves everything about canada (she is canadian) and that he loves to go there, and a page later she says that he has never been outside of the united states. um. either she meant out of the continent and it was a typo or she's kinda dumb, or she lied. and she writes about the same incidents over and over again in different chapters.
this girl graduated from law school, yet constantly uses incorrect grammar and misspells words. there are typos throughout the entire thing, too.
and speaking of lying.. i kind of feel like the entire thing can't be 100% true. even if it is.. yuck. such a rotten thing to do to put that all out there.
she complains throughout the entire book about the curfew, rules, how she never had fun. ok.. so you stayed for 2 1/2 (or 2.. she says 2 through the whole book then near the end says it was 2 1/2) years why? she complained about getting $1000 a week and said it wasnt enough. ok.. so WHY STAY? how dare someone have everything handed to them so easily and then they complain for the whole world to see. that just bothers me. she complained that the house was too dirty for her to live in, her room was too small (the room she picked and had more than one opportunity to move to a different one but chose not to), and more.
bottom line? i almost wish i hadn't read it. i don't want to watch the show now and sit there thinking it's scripted and fake and stuff. so what if it is? most reality shows are. i think it was unfair of her to ruin that for people. that sounds dumb, haha, a show about playboy girlfriends being ruined, but do you know what i mean?
anyway, i just wanted to bring this thread up instead of starting a new one because i know in the more recent girls next door thread girls were saying they were thinking about reading it. i'll mail ya the book if you want to that bad! dont spend your money on it. the only reason i read as much as i did was because it was kinda like a trainwreck and i wanted to see why she actually left the house in the end.
^Thanks for that little update/review, britt244. This book honestly sounds like nothing but a bunch of crap and utter bullshit IMO! Just another manipulative, spiteful, back-stabbing, vulture- bitch trying to bash Hef and The Girls, and cash in on Hef's success in the most debilitated way...by writing a damn book. ::) Another Monica Lewinsky. PPfffsshh...
BTW, britt...since it's a free offer...I wouldn't mind if you mailed it to meh. I'll PM you my address...just let me know if someone else wanted it first......:P

What do you mean by "another Monica Lewinsky"?
Lewinsky never did this sort of petty bashing and attempt to gain fame. As far as I can tell, she just tried to make the best of a genuinely shitty situation.

That's interesting, in a pictoral, she claimed to be a "limo driver" in Las Vegas....
Anyway, it's all the same. In Hollywood there's the casting couch. Modeling agencies are gauntlets of coked-up Dicks... If people are SHOCKED that a model used other avenues of her attractiveness/sexuality to get by in life...I mean, seriously. Think about it, folks...
IMO this hiding of truth is to market to the white bread American consumer....& That demographic is changing.

honestly i think some of it is true if you read the book and watch the first season of GND you will see what i'm talking about.

Okay...well maybe that was a little far-fetched, but she still ca$hed in on the stupid scandal. I don't want to argue about it, either.

Me too ;D
I also want to read this one about a chick that grew up at the Playboy Mansion.

^^ I have that book!!
It's pretty good. While there is a bunch of stuff about the mansion, Hef, etc., it focuses more on the author and her dysfunctional family. I didn't pick up any new Playboy insider info from it, but it was a good "sex, drugs, & rock 'n' roll" read nonetheless.

^^We could use a whole other thread on "sex, drugs, & rock n' roll" type books! They are my favorite esp for summer lounging by the pool. Can you guys suggest some more here or should we start another thread?
Mmmm, I love trashy novels!

This all just doesn't shock me very much... I assumed the arrangement between Hef and his girls wasn't as glamorous as everyone tried to make it out to be.

Ok, major thread bumpage, but I just got this book and decided to see if anyone else has read it. I'm only about half way through, but to me it sounds like she's bitching about Holly and Bridget. I honestly don't think she cared one iota about Hef, and just got jealous because Holly and Bridget were just better actresses than her and managed to win him over. That's just my two cents. But I do like the book.

I got the sample chapter of Playground for free on my Kindle. The Spaulding book is not available for the Kindle, so heck with it.
